@Peppermintblue We got an offer letter from Reeds in the post on Friday and also an email Friday lunchtime referring to the offer and inviting us to an offer holder event. Perhaps worth giving them a call.

Thanks both. We are 13+. Did the email come on the same day as the letter?

As reassurance, I know people in our class who have had 11+ offers in the post from Reeds who both have and and had not had emails.

yes my initial reaction was that this email was set on a timer. also the emails were sent out in alphabetical order

@Peppermintblue the email came the day the letter arrived. I believe it was sent the day after they posted the letter.

I also checked with PHS and got the same ‘by the end of the week’ response.

I am completely shocked about the news regarding the Epsom College head. What an absolute tragedy for the family and the Epsom community. Thoughts are with them.

True! Whatever email I get first, I hope it is a positive one!! When the G&L email for interview came first, that was a relief.

By last name or first?

By last name - this was two years ago. I went through the process with two friends, one whose surname is at the start of the alphabet and one whose is right at the end. (we are approx in the middle). the friend at the start of the alphabet always heard before me, and I always heard before the friend at the end. it wasn't huge amounts of time, probably around 15/20 mins, hard to recollect exact timings now

Interesting. I wonder what was the cause for the Putney interview email delays. My dh got the email at 2:30pm and I did not get the email until after 10pm! At least now I know so I told my dh if he gets any emails to notify me immediately lol. Last time I had to check w him if he got an email and he was like oh yea, I got an email lol. He is not really thinking about it....

Last year I was awaiting news of Putney High and everyone on Mumsnet was getting an email and mine didn’t come through. It was only when I checked the portal (or whatever it’s called) that I could see an offer was made. Definitely worth checking with them to save yourselves extra hours of angst 🙈

My daughter now goes there and is very happy, so if you have any questions I’m happy to try and help.

I am sure I will have many questions if we are lucky enough to get an offer :) I am checking the portal daily even though they said by end of this week....in the hopes it might update earlier lol. It says applied atm. When you get an offer...what does it change to? Accepted or declined? Offer or no offer? Just curious really.

I heard Putney was super sporty (which is great, my dd is sporty)....but I would not say she is the top of all her sports. How is it if you are just average or slightly above average in the sports? My interest is netball in particular.

Also, what made you chose Pitney high? It is good to hear your dd is very happy there :)

@SamPoodle123 last year the PHS portal changed a good 3-4 hours before we received the email. I don’t remember the status at the top but it was very clear as lots of sections opened up with the acceptance form, scholarship information if relevant, etc.

I just checked and our PHS email came through at lunchtime on 7 Feb last year. Whereas the Athena assessment one turned up late in the evening, after I’d spent all day wondering where it was.

I’m sorry I can’t remember what it said- offer of place perhaps? I’m line with your question on how sporty it is- very! My daughter came from a state school where she was the “sporty one”. At PH, she is not on the A or even B netball team. It seems girls on those teams train daily- they are doing all sorts of extra training, playing for Surrey County, etc (a different level than what I’m able to do as I have 3 kids). That said, she is very happy on her netball team and gets to compete weekly, and the competition has made her work harder. She also does other sports, and they have lacrosse fixtures weekly (and she had never played before PH). She does a lot of other clubs too, and plays the piano, and I feel it’s been great there all around in offering something for every interest.

We chose PH for a few reasons- it was always my DDs preference, we live locally in Putney, and she wanted a girls school after growing up with brothers! (She complained that boys at school were too disruptive). We turned down offers at LU, Epsom, and WH as she felt very strongly about PH. I would say for her it was 100% the right decision despite her not being (initially) the sportiest one! She has made a lot of friends. The girls seem lovely and the ones I know are polite, grounded and seem to have a lot of fun. I hope that helps.

Do all schools send out emails with offers/ non-offers in alphabetical order?

@SamPoodle123 our portal for GHS, says 'offer of a place' with a facebook type thumbs up!

Interesting, thanks. I am going to check daily to see if I see a change before emails are sent out!

The news at Epsom is horrifying. What an utter tragedy.

@MomFromSE I can’t stop thinking about it. What a tragedy. Certainly puts all my concerns over schools in perspective. You never know what someone is dealing with and what may be round the corner. Cuddling my girls extra tight tonight.
