Punctuation fail on the thread title. That's my SPAG marks gone (again).

Kingscote - the geography question was on Arctic fauna not flora apparently Confused

DS did CIE igcse biology and the main question was in regulation of body temperature and not heart, kidney, nervous system or all the usual things which was a bit of a curve ball

Thanks for the new thread Stickerrocks....love the title!

I'm here! @brainmelt - yes he did the Bronte. He could have done the Larkin but was quite happy with Bronte - this from a boy who hates poetry.

He also thinks he will have got big ticks for talking about racism and sexism as themes in his My Antonia essay.

Apparently one boy only did half of the exam - which is very surprising.

sandybayley · 22/05/2018 22:03

Thank you @Stickerrocks !

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:04

So. Physics tomorrow. DD wants to study it at University and her heart is set on a grade 9. Her Physics teacher very sensibly refuses to predict Grade 9s, but did nominate her for a Physics award at our local University last year so he's obviously got confidence in her.

She feels like the knows the topics inside out, but doesn't always spot what the mark scheme is trying to get her to say. Therefore she got 7s in her mocks and was quietly disappointed even though her teacher told her in the nicest possible way to to get a grip. I'm trying to say all the right things about how 7s and 8s are still truly excellent grades, but can I please confess to you lovely people that in my heart of hearts, this is the one that I really hope she nails!

mmzz · 22/05/2018 22:04

Thanks for the new thread, Stickerrocks. Love the new title.

LooseAtTheSeams · 22/05/2018 22:05

Finally caught up with DS when I got home - seems quite chirpy about English and geography. Sense of impending doom about physics But he can see the funny side and is hoping for lots of maths-style questions!
Love the thread title Stickerrocks and don't worry about the punctuation!
Haven't forgotten you Sos but the R+J and Frankenstein response will be in the morning!

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:07

Carrying on from previous thread I agree with stickerocks about being realistic concerning hoping to get 9s across the board.

mmzz · 22/05/2018 22:09

AChickenCalledKorma I recognise that feeling! Paying lip service to how they're all important, and how doing your best is what to be proud of, but really, deep, deep down, there's that one subject that you want a particular mark in more than all the others.

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:09

Thanks loose
And love title too sticker!

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:10

Yep agree mmzz I WANT THAT 9 IN GEOGRAPHY!!!!Grin

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:12

And in maths, chemistry..........no not really!Smile but definitely geography!

hmcAsWas · 22/05/2018 22:12

Great thread title Grin

Dd did the poem on Trees too Brainmelt - "because its shorter" - Hmm great criterion for selection!

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:14

Being as prize giving is based on GCSE results it will he a damn shame if dgd doesnt get top prize for geography in year 11 Sad

Teenmum60 · 22/05/2018 22:16

Thanks for the new thread @stickerrocks - love the title.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow...off to bed!

androbbob · 22/05/2018 22:17

Wow I just wrote a message and then the thread was full, so I had to start again!

DD enjoyed Eng lit today - Christmas Carol and Inspector calls - did tell me about the questions, but it hasn't sunk in. Free afternoon so two hours of psychology was done. Then at home anther two hours of same and some physics, ready for tomorrow.

Then Thurs and Fri to go - maths and History I think? Half term brings a welcome break and a concert in Manchester and then two revision sessions in school, before the onslaught of the final two weeks starts.

DD has gone to bed early with a headache - long day tomorrow for them with two exams - hopefully goes well for them.

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/05/2018 22:20

DS2 would love to get a 9 in Physics. He wants to study it at university. He got 89% in the mock (highest in the year) so I'd like to hope that a grade 9 is a possibility for him.

He would also love to get a 9 in Maths. Only got 85% in the mock but he knows where he went wrong there. He's in the top ten in the year, and about 30 in the year above got a grade 9, so again would like to hope that it's a possibility.

In other subjects (Geography, English x2, Computer Science) he is crossing his fingers for a 7.

AChickenCalledKorma · 22/05/2018 22:22

Do they have prizegiving after results day then Sostenuto? What if they go elsewhere in year 12?

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 22:22

Well after Friday no more RE for dgd! That's 2 subjects gone forever, art and RE.Grin she is chuffed!
Off to bed night all good luck to all tomorrow.Flowers

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/05/2018 22:23

AChickenCalledKorma have a look at the British Physics Olympiad website, there's an AS Challenge that your DD could enter in Y12 if she's interested.

BlueBelle123 · 22/05/2018 22:24

thesecond how incredibly hard your DS has been working and for so long he certainly deserves them on effort alone.............30 grade 9's Shock.......can see why the grades are so high for 6th form!!

Stickerrocks · 22/05/2018 22:24

Physics tomorrow, maths & RS on Thursday and Eng Lit on Friday on the standard GCSE pathway. Apologies if I've missed anything like drama or PE.
