A new thread to take us through the exams

Rufus I agree with you that there should only be one exam board. But given we're stuck with this system, the grade boundaries even things up if one board's paper has been much more difficult/much easier than another.

DD was happy enough with Biology this afternoon - the antibodies she'd learnt yesterday, so wasn't entirely confident Wink, but they had done a practical about potatoes in sugar (?) but were faced with dissolving eggs instead.

She also had the 100 islanders yesterday in computer science, and managed a reasonable answer including difficulties with privacy due to them not knowing not to post everything you do and think online, then it being there forever. She thought about talking about porn, but (thankfully) decided not to Grin.

She knows any of these exams could be a lot worse - few years back DD2 did her GCSEs with a scribe as she'd sprained her shoulder, and had to dictate an answer about about gay prawns Grin.

So, what's on tomorrow for everyone?

Edexcel Judaism here, worth 25% of the total mark.
This must be DS's weakest paper (that he knows about!)

AlexanderHamilton · 15/05/2018 17:49

Everyone is saying that cystic fibrosis is a clear paper 2 topic so how was it allowed to be in paper 1?

Dd has Edexcel Islam tomorrow.

Cherryburn · 15/05/2018 17:51

Nothing here tomorrow mmzz. Monday's marathon RS exam was the only RS paper for DS.

Chemistry paper 1 on Thursday is the next exam for him.

snozzlemaid · 15/05/2018 17:54

Nothing tomorrow for dd either.
Chemistry on Thursday next.
The twitter comments on #aqabiology are hilarious.

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/05/2018 17:56

DS2 has the day off tomorrow, which is good as he needs to save his energy in preparation for Thursday: three exams, first exam starts at 9am and last exam finishes at 4.30. 😳

cubscout · 15/05/2018 17:58

RE Themes for ds tomorrow then Chemistry Thursday then final French Friday. Then a blessed 3 day weekend (though school revision session organised for Monday morning.)

Cherryburn · 15/05/2018 17:58

Gosh, that's a long day second. What exams does he have?

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 15/05/2018 18:00

properly LOLing at #aqabiology on twitter Grin.

beenrumbled · 15/05/2018 18:02

Nothing here tomorrow, Chemistry on Thursday, then French writing on Friday

Sostenueto · 15/05/2018 18:11

R.E paper 2 tomorrow on Judaism 25% of exam . a breeze dgd thinks as long as you know all the Jewish terms etc ( which she doesn't).Hmm. Chemistry Thursday morning so have to drive her to school as she will have 10 minutes to run to school ( over a mile) from station uphill and if train is late....besides she doesn't want to be hot and sweaty. Nothing Friday so hip hip hooray! 4 exams done only another 20 to goShock yep cystic fibrosis came up. Can't ask what last question was as she is done talki g about exam.

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/05/2018 18:14

Cherryburn
Chemistry (AQA triple)
Computer Science (OCR)
Latin literature (Eduqas)

It is a long day. I think there's a ten minute break between the Computer Science and the Latin, where an invigilator will take him to the loo if he needs to go.

Stickerrocks · 15/05/2018 18:18

Welcome back snoozle. Leap in the car & head to the beach. I'm about to drop DD for an hour of hitting tennis balls hard.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 15/05/2018 18:19

No exams tomorrow, but DS3 will be going in for lessons. There's a Chemistry revision session after school as well, that he'll go to.

Chemistry AQA and CS OCR on Thursday and nothing Friday. Next week is busier, though, but still just one exam a day. DS3 has 18 exams altogether, if you lump the Chinese listening and reading, and the History ones together.

Aragog · 15/05/2018 18:40

Dd doesn't really like science and finds it difficult so wasn't overly keen on today. Said she didn't enjoy the Biology paper and found it a bit tricky, though further questioning suggests she has attempted all questions and hopefully got marks on most, if not all.

Day off tomorrow so she will be revising for Thursday - two exams that day with chemistry (another subject she dislikes and finds hard) and computer science (the harder of the two papers for dd as she is very much into the coding rather than the theory. Another reason why she was so disappointed over the coursework fiasco, where she was looking at having got pretty much full marks.

Aragog · 15/05/2018 18:41

She then has drama on Friday.

So will be 5 exams down and 4 subjects completed: computer science, drama, biology and chemistry. And will have 10 more exams to go.

callitwhatyouwill · 15/05/2018 18:45

Did anyone's DC sit the AQA Higher Level French today, or the Edexcel Higher Level Biology? I'd be interested in feedback from anyone who sat those...

Another day down and well done to everyone.

Sostenueto · 15/05/2018 18:48

Arrangements for prom nearly done. Friendship group meeting at one of friends limo ordered which we all chip into there are 5 so won't be expensive and dgd can stay overnight so we can come home after photocall so all is well! ( didn't fancy hanging around for 4 hours)Smile

Sostenueto · 15/05/2018 18:54

Glad every DC survived today. What is done is done and fingers crossed they all did well as I know each and everyone awesome dcs! Star

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 15/05/2018 18:59

DD thought Biology was ok today (apart from the rogue CF question) but French was quite tricky. Those comments on twitter are funny Grin
RS tomorrow.......

hmcAsWas · 15/05/2018 19:02

Dd thought AQA biology was okay. PE tomorrow and quite confident. Expecting a major nose dive in confidence level for Chemistry on Thursday

Sofabitch · 15/05/2018 19:03

DS has Physical Education exam tomorrow. Chemistry (Aqa) Thursday. And then a drama and PE clash on Friday so 2 exams back to back.

Stickerrocks · 15/05/2018 19:05

Giggling over the #edexcelbiology twitter stream. It wouldn't have occurred to me to look it up. I've received more feedback on Weightwatchers, gastric bands, Fat Kev and something to do with surface area than I've got from DD!

EdWinchester · 15/05/2018 19:07

Today my ds had 2 french exams that he said were hard.

Biology was not too bad. He did say there was a lot about egg shells, potatoes and cleaning fluids! (AQA Higher)
