Smallpiece also do cyber security I may get him to look at - he s keen to do something in computing but don’t think he really has much idea what these things involve so a way to find out more

Thanks everyone for taking my thread title fails in such good spirit! I was trying so hard to get it right this time, too!

@Oratory1 Thanks for the post about smallpiece trust.

Sostenueto - sorry about DGD's Art, hopefully, today's exam won't have a too bigger impact on the overall result.

@Alwayshiding so sorry to hear your dd is getting worse.

DD really rates this site (its very user-friendly and just £2 for the month)

AlwaysHiding I am really sorry to read your update. Will the operation make your DD better? It seems so harsh that she and you have to cope with this. When is her last exam?

DS2's year group ordered their hoodies through Mapac. DS1's year group ordered theirs through the local uniform supplier.

In both cases, each student (or parent) ordered and paid directly via the company website (rather than through the school). Because Mapac is a larger company, they were able to offer a much wider variety of colours to choose from.

Have had another smack-head-Into-wall evening trying to help DS make sense of RE. It is the epitome of dense!

Good luck to everyone for Eng Lang paper 2 tomorrow.
And any other exams I may not know about...

Leavers hoodies have the names on the back, right? So... question... how do you get 100/ 200 /300 names on the back unless you use font size 6?!

DS2 has 9 (yes, nine) exams next week. Is this normal? It seems like a lot to me.

The worst day is the Thursday which has three exams (starting at 9, finishing at 4.30). He's going to be exhausted. 😲

TheSecondOfHerName · 10/05/2018 21:58

mmzz the names of everyone in the year are printed inside a large number 18 - the font is small. They include full names in case there is more than one Joe B.

DS1 thinks the hoodies will be amusing for the kids who leave school 51 years from now (assuming they still do leavers' hoodies by then).

Wow, @TheSecond, that’s a lot of exams in one week Confused - DD has four in total.

@mmzz thanks for your kind words. Surgery would only solve the current relapse. It’ll flare up again, different areas and varying severity. Numerous drug trials available, but all have potent side effects and must be considered carefully.

I wondered that too about the hoodies - squishing all of the names into a number 1 and 8!

@Teenmum thank you for that link. I’ll sign up tomorrow as she needs all the help she can get. I did sit with her today for a while going through flash cards but I was then struck down with a migraine! God knows how she’s persevering with it all.

Leavers hoodies caused a right hop hat at ds’s school. They are organised by the kids (a committee) but the head has to approve them. The kids voted & decided on pink ones but the head disallowed that & she also tried to veto some of the nicknames. After several meetings which ended in stalemate the head has now allowed most nicknames but they have to have lavender.

Thesecond That is a lot of exams ...DD has 6 - although I suppose French Reading/Writing/Listening could be counted as 1 rather than 2..so more like 5...but no exams on Wednesday or Friday.

TheSecondOfHerName · 10/05/2018 22:07

Two of the French papers are back-to-back, so if you count that as one exam he only has 8 next week, which sounds more manageable.

The good part is that by the end of next week, he'll be finished with Computer Science and French and nearly finished with Latin.

adrinkofwater · 10/05/2018 22:12

DS also has 8 exams next week - counting the back to back French as one. By the end of next week he will be done with RS, computing and French!

Another DS with 8 next week. He is doing a countdown on the kitchen whiteboard - big 21 up there at the moment.

Only 4 exams next week (after dropping out of RS)

Sorry to hear that your dd is struggling AlwaysHiding

Hopefully your dgd has done better than she thinks in her Art exam Sostenueto

Dd and I went to a performance of Macbeth this evening - only to bail at the interval. It was a dance theatre performance with no spoken words (face palm)

Good luck to anyone with exams tomorrow...hope the Eng Lang exam is more straightforward than the earlier exam.

Well I'm ashamed to admit that DD and I took one look at each other during the interval for the NT Macbeth and headed for home. No disrespect to Rory Kinnear and Anne-marie Duff, but having seen it at the Globe and then with Christopher Ecclestone a few weeks ago, I really couldn't cope with such a bleak set and costumes made of cling film & parcel tape. Several others there from school who were forced to sit through another hour or so.

Leavers hoodies - the year head forgot to send out the letters and said the whole order needed to be cancelled. DD pointed out that nobody had had a letter, chivvied him along and got around 150 orders. They had lots of colour options. The HB & HG & deputies were allowed to pick things to fit the prom budget only for the head to overturn the whole order though, so I feel for your DD Alex.

I think I got more out of Bill Bailey's review of Macbeth at the weekend. Luckily I hadn't got tickets for the operatic version.

5 papers for DS1 next week.

Plus DD1 exams!

DS1 will be very pleased when English Language is over tomorrow. He's still in a good mood and has gone to bed quite happy.

Best wishes to all DC who aren't well and for those who've had tricky exam experiences so far.

Sostenueto aaargh! To the art exam. What on Earth was the teacher thinking?
Mmzz love the new thread title - many thanks!
I think DS has 6 exams next week.
