Does anyone have a strong sense of what we should expect tomorrow?

One of my school mum friends is getting married on Friday. Big do in Glasgow city centre. She's up to high doh with it all having had to cancel it twice previously. Feel terribly sorry for her.

FanGirlX · 13/12/2021 21:37

Non parents - particularly SNP supporting ones - will feel relieved that something has been seen to be done without impacting them.

Are you speaking on behalf of all non parents?

rookiemere · 13/12/2021 21:37

I have a hair appointment next week as well - full head of highlights. I reckon hairdressers were one of the first things to reopen not that my generous tipping seemed to help me get an early appointment so hopefully not first in line for shutting.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/12/2021 21:41

Mine is this Wednesday so fingers crossed she doesn’t move that quickly - weirdly I was in on the days both lockdowns were announced last year. My hairdresser is a total dream and got me in on opening day. I have a bottle of vodka sitting to bring him in for Christmas, assuming we’re not back to stay home by then.

LowlandLucky · 13/12/2021 21:44

I think schools will close early. A primary school in my area has closed already, of the 33 children on the register 25 tested positive for covid.

GaolBhoAlba · 13/12/2021 21:57

Mercifully, there is very little she can impose without westminster finance. Thus I think her announcement will focus on pushing boosters (with perhaps the threat of vaccine only passes being introduced at some point) and 'strong' advice/recommendation/direct requests on limiting contacts.

LovelyMondayMornings · 13/12/2021 21:58

One class at DD's school had only 3 in today. I'm assuming that must be due to the isolation rules rather than positive cases though.

I really can't see schools closing. At most maybe declaring it non teaching time and asking those who can to keep their kids at home?

I would hate to see them shut down hospitality completely but imposing really harsh restrictions (anything worse than 6 from 3) would bankrupt some places at this time of year.

ShiftingSands21 · 13/12/2021 22:00

Very interesting rookiemere. I can imagine furlough happening for a period of 6 weeks or something.

If I can do maths (doubtful) and it doubles every 2.3 days, in 36 days everyone im Scotland should have it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yellow85 · 13/12/2021 22:05

Pretty much. And if they don’t, it won’t be because the finger in air modelling was wrong. It’ll be because their restrictions worked.

frasersmummy · 13/12/2021 22:13

I really hope whoever whoever you are hearing this from @rookiemere is totally having you.on

Shutting everything by Friday would be a massive over reaction and put thousands of people out of work with a week to Christmas.

Scottishskifun · 13/12/2021 22:14

Let's hope WM stands strong she will bash them for it but my god none of us want bloody lockdown!
If she doesn't have funding she will have a huge backlash on her hands!

rookiemere · 13/12/2021 22:16

I'm regretting posting now, it is all a bit friend of a friend type information. I was just so excited to have a bit of a scoop.

frasersmummy · 13/12/2021 22:17

@rookiemere I hope whoever you are hearing this from is winding you up big time

Standing up today and saying hospitality shut Friday would put thousands of people out of a job a week before Christmas

I cannot see that happening.

TokyoSushi · 13/12/2021 22:20

Watching with interest, we have a 'between Christmas & New Year' break in Edinburgh booked, I feel like we might not be coming 😔

visitingagain · 13/12/2021 22:23

There's a thread on the main boards now about uk lockdown from Wednesday 😞

Yellow85 · 13/12/2021 22:29

Given that the Tory backbencher are pushing back on Plan B, I’d say it would be almost impossible to push through a lockdown. Also noticed it was from a poster with ‘inside sources’

Haudyourwheesht · 13/12/2021 22:47

And the wasted food and stock would be criminal. Never mind the pantos and the musicals, and the DJs booked and the Santas hired. It's like nothing is considered except covid.

it is all a bit friend of a friend type information

I heard from a friend of a friend who is generally very reliable about these things that if she'd had funding she would have locked us down last week.

WouldBeGood · 13/12/2021 23:52

I think Westminster will do furlough and lockdown by end of the week

elena3556 · 14/12/2021 00:23

I won't be able to watch Nicola's announcement because I will be working but I am not making any predictions.

Malteser71 · 14/12/2021 00:25

I think you’re all mad.

And she’s crazed

LovelyMondayMornings · 14/12/2021 06:58

Why malteser? For discussing the possibilities of today's announcement of further restrictions?

rookiemere · 14/12/2021 07:33

Something else I remembered, no restrictions on travel within Scotland and possibly not across English border as well aka no tiers, so that is something.
