Does anyone have a strong sense of what we should expect tomorrow?

It feels like March because I remember st work watching infections tick up, the first death, social groups closing electively, inch by inch... I still remember saying they don’t close the schools. They can’t close the schools not just for learning but for child safety...how naive I was.

TeenTraumaTrials · 13/12/2021 12:53

@MLMshouldbeillegal

I have reached that point too, Parkhead. I won't be stopping seeing people inside and won't be stopping my kids from doing it either. I won't be staying in my local council area.

I've had my 2 jabs and a booster.

She can fuck off to the far side of fuck and then fuck off a bit more if she thinks that closing schools will be taken lightly. I have a S5 child doing her Highers - the end of S3 was fucked. S4 was fucked. I'm damned if I'm letting Nippy and Useless fuck her S5 chances too.

ENOUGH.

Here here. I'm going to be using 'she can fuck off to the far side of fuck and then a bit more' - that just about sums up my views right now. DD is also S5.
MLMshouldbeillegal · 13/12/2021 12:58

Prelims are scheduled for January at our school. They are always January. Worried for DD.

Also worried for DS who "started uni" in October and so far has been in three times because of Covid.

Toottooot · 13/12/2021 13:06

I can’t get my booster until January as my local vaccination centres have zero availability so she can fuck right off if she thinks she can blame a slow booster uptake for whatever ridiculous restrictions she introduces tomorrow.

ecceromani · 13/12/2021 13:08

I think she'll extend vaccine passports to pubs, restaurants, cinemas
And from X date in January we'll need 3 doses for the passport

kikidee · 13/12/2021 13:08

Just wondering what those of you who would like Nicola to fuck of to the far side of fuck etc etc are actually going to do to express your displeasure if schools do close?? I've got a boy in S6 who has not yet sat a formal exam, other than last years 'not exams', and has not done this year's prelims yet so I totally understand the frustration but what exactly do you propose as an alternative? I'm not sure schools will be able to effectively operate soon given the new isolation rules and the number of missing staff that will create.

lonsdaleshorts · 13/12/2021 13:09

Without furlough, I don't believe she can do much beyond getting people to test more and having Covid passports and possibly ensuring people are working from home.

I'll be fucked off if they shut schools early. I think there will be an outcry if they do. Ditto that being in January.

casinoroyale4ever · 13/12/2021 13:13

Restricting indoor numbers is something they can announce as a guideline that won't cost anything. Reckon they'll go there.

Indoor meetings have been a real lagger here compared to England so they clearly believe they are a key covid driver.

I don't care if schools finish end of this week but if they go back later in Jan that'll be so so depressing.

RJnomore1 · 13/12/2021 13:13

I don’t think there will be an outcry; macimi 3/4 days in the last week before Xmas is probably the most palatable closure possible.

I’ve got an S6 too, she’s had a horrible couple of years. She’s so happy just being at school just now 🙁

rookiemere · 13/12/2021 13:16

I think many will be quite happy if schools close end of this week. Teachers and DPs of older DCs who are worried about them being pinged or catching Covid.
Non parents - particularly SNP supporting ones - will feel relieved that something has been seen to be done without impacting them.

Obviously leaves working DPs of primary aged DCs with huge childcare issues.

I suspect she'll say if you don't absolutely have to send them to school next week, then don't.

Pootle40 · 13/12/2021 13:16

What actual difference would it make to close schools for 3 days? Utter made up bollocks.

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 13/12/2021 13:17

I reckon schools close on Friday too.

user1487194234 · 13/12/2021 13:19

Indeed
So maybe not bring that rule in ?

RJnomore1 · 13/12/2021 13:21

The entire response except the vaccines has been made up bollockz, why stop now!

God knows but you'll definitely see me on the news during a protest with a very large banner 🤷‍♀️
DavidSPumpkins · 13/12/2021 13:22

Rookiemere, I’m a “non-parent” and I wouldn’t be pleased. At my work “non- parents” have to cover for the people who have to take time off for childcare.
And we aren’t all completely bereft of sympathy for the young people in our lives who have had their education disrupted.

NinaProudman2022 · 13/12/2021 13:27

In England where we are our Secondary Schools close at mid day on 16th Dec. I wish Bojo was more like Nicola.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/12/2021 13:29

Even the doubt is going to spoil our Christmas plans. My mother is immune suppressed and had a very low bar for avoiding people last year.

Without LFTs to show we're negative I don't think she'd take the risk of coming for Christmas. If I say "no, it's fine, we're all careful and vaccinated" then she might feel obliged to come, and as she's got older she's lost the ability to hide her displeasure, which is no fun for any of us.

I think our Christmas is gubbed even if we are allowed to meet up.

frasersmummy · 13/12/2021 13:31

I reckon we will be back to the rule of 6 /3 families mingling inside and back to 2 metre distancing from other families

I also think she will say you cant travel out with your local area

she will urge wfh till the end of January

There will be a lot of preaching about how we must stick with the rules and she understands its hard.

There is nothing else she can really do so there will be whinging about wm not giving her money to close the economy down

I dont think they will close the schools early... but I do suspect they will be late back in January.. sigh.. another exam year fucked

rookiemere · 13/12/2021 13:33

@DavidSPumpkins I should have said "many" non DPs, sorry.

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria - agreed, my DM has already said she doesn't want to see us for at least a week after our Christmas visitors who are relatives from England, so as we're planning to have a few people round on NYE we'll need to go up and visit them during the day. I mean she sees us at the minute and DS goes to school and I go out to restaurants, the gym and the cinema.

I suspect by the time Christmas period comes she won't want to see us at all, which I suppose is fair enough, but DF 88 would be keen to see us regardless of the risks of catching covid.

Yellow85 · 13/12/2021 13:34

@Pootle40

What actual difference would it make to close schools for 3 days? Utter made up bollocks.
I imagine it’s just 5 days extra non contact days before Xmas for teachers. Might give them a chance of avoiding it. Plus my kids school basically only do crafts and watch movies the last week or so, so no real ‘educational loss’ for their age (7&5).
Nonono11 · 13/12/2021 13:41

I actually feel ill thinking about the possibility that schools could potentially be shut. I don’t mind them breaking up a day or two early, but the thought of a repeat of last year - as let’s face it it’s never “just 3 weeks” is making me feel really unwell. I had a breakdown last February and had just started to get my life back on track. I knows it’s pathetic but I can’t do this again to myself or my family

GoldenOmber · 13/12/2021 13:44

I hear you Nonono11. I don’t know how I could manage again if they close schools (and nurseries, like last time). Miserable bored angry children and trying to work at the same time. Just awful awful awful.

rookiemere · 13/12/2021 13:46

It would be ludicrous to close schools and restrict household numbers whilst big Hogmanay party still going ahead and nightclubs still open. I hope she spots this before any announcements.

ParkheadParadise · 13/12/2021 13:49

I'm meeting up with my 5 siblings on Saturday for drinks and dinner. She better not think about messing that up.🙁🙁
