Does anyone have a strong sense of what we should expect tomorrow?

I’m not liking the emails and vibes I’m getting st work this morning.

OnceUponAWhine · 14/12/2021 08:03

Just leaving this here, for when we are told what we should fear and the doom-laden announcement done because politicians care…

Sturgeon could always take the £350m she’s ringfenced in the budget for the next independence campaign to support hospitality if she’s going to enforce restrictions.

Can you give me a breakdown of that. I can't get into Twitter.

WouldBeGood · 14/12/2021 09:00

@RJnomore1 what’s the vibe?

WouldBeGood · 14/12/2021 09:01

Good point @Catsolitude, especially with her weasel words about being “sorry about the sucker punch dealt to hospitality”. The one she hit 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yellow85 · 14/12/2021 09:03

Just been on the news that it’s a restriction to the indoor mixing numbers (households)

Coolcoolcool · 14/12/2021 09:10

@Yellow85 what did they say?

I don’t understand that though, because their rationale behind household mixing was that it’s the place of least SD, but there’s no SD requirements in hospitality etc either, so surely they need to bring those in first?

rookiemere · 14/12/2021 09:20

No way I'll be adhering to restrictions on numbers in the house if events like NYE party in Edinburgh and night clubs remain open.

We're meant to be having 12 of us for Christmas, relatives from England so we don't see them often. Most will have had their boosters. Everyone works from home or is retired.

I need to see what the new rules are, but sure our group will be too large.

Yellow85 · 14/12/2021 09:21

I’m sure they’re coming too.

Basically just said ‘Clyde news understands that in an attempt to slow the spread of Omicron the First Minister is due to announce a limit on household numbers mixing indoors’

I assume the limits will also apply to hospitality. Gutted all my son wanted for Xmas was hot wheels live tickets. 3rd Jan. that’ll be that out the window. He’ll be gutted if Santa doesn’t bring them!!

JorisBonson · 14/12/2021 09:24

Watching with interest. Booked to come back up the road on Christmas Eve - 27th. Triple jabbed, haven't seen my gran in 2 years.

ecceromani · 14/12/2021 09:25

@rookiemere what a disincentive to have the booster that is!
You've all followed the recommendations and had your boosters but you still may not all be able to meet up within the guidelines Confused

tigger1001 · 14/12/2021 09:28

I just honestly feel crap today. Like zero point in planning anything.

Not sure I can even muster any enthusiasm for Christmas. I have got tickets for a concert for my son and have been looking forward to seeing him open them. It's not until the summer but just not sure I can build it up like I want to just in case.

OnceUponAWhine · 14/12/2021 09:29

Think this through- it would and could never be policed, other than your neighbours snitching.

If you’ve had vaccines even if you haven’t that is still your choice and you’re a grown up, make your own decisions.

Onemorefortheroad · 14/12/2021 09:31

So much hate for Nicola Sturgeon 🙄

As if she enjoys having to put restrictions in place. People need a bit of a reality check here, it's a virus that has mutated and they are still trying to ensure that an already stretched NHS doesn't get any worse. Other countries have restrictions, it's not a Nicola Sturgeon thing.

People moaning about not getting their night out - absolutely ludicrous.

GoldenOmber · 14/12/2021 09:33

I would be slightly worried about neighbours snitching because one of my neighbours utterly lost it in the first lockdown and was demanding the army come and patrol with guns. But probably not worried enough to not see people anyway, even with her.

I wonder if the drip drip of doom effect is actually backfiring now. Presumably what they want is for people to voluntarily cut down contacts and be more cautious. But doesn’t work if people respond to each new vague warning by thinking “well if you’re going to stop me doing that next week then I’d better do all I can now”

rookiemere · 14/12/2021 09:51

@Onemorefortheroad no it's right to point out that no political party would have wanted Omicron to arrive and I guess the biggest compliment I can pay to Nicola Sturgeon is that I'm fairly sure she's not a psychopath and genuinely does want as few deaths as possible, the jury is out on Boris.

I do feel a bit more credible opposition to debate any proposals would be helpful, a resistance to getting in wee jibes about how much better Scotland is than England and trying to work so that Scotland and England are vaguely similar in approach ( difficult I know)

No one should be trying to make political capital out of a pandemic.

Doesn't affect her though does it? With her safe job, still able to go to work every day, meet her SNP mates, sit without her mask at work?

Very easy for you to put in a load of restrictions which won't affect you. What REALLY gives me the dry boke is the attempts to empathise and the hollow "I know how hard this is" bollocks when she quite clearly hasn't a clue.

Odious woman.

WouldBeGood · 14/12/2021 10:01

The hate would go towards any government putting in these restrictions now.

The constant drip drip and keeping you safe message up here doesn’t help, like we’re all babies.

Just like at the responses on sm now. People have had enough of threats and promises.

And a night out with friends, family or colleagues is a big deal. Social contact and fun is important to humans, especially in dark winter after a dark two years.

Rassy · 14/12/2021 10:02

@Yellow85 BBC website saying that advice re social mixing etc will be guidance not law. No doubt NS will present it all with a huge dollop of stern emotional blackmail/fear etc etc...

RJnomore1 · 14/12/2021 10:04

Some rumblings about hospitality restrictions, limiting household restrictions, possibly enhanced guidance for CEV soon but not today. It’s more of the general feeling and tone of things than what’s coming today really, that it could be a step to something else rather than “it”.

WouldBeGood · 14/12/2021 10:05

Plus we’ve had more and longer lasting restrictions, lockdowns, masks and vaccine passports, with no positive effects despite the promises.

People can see it’s bollocks.

Totally agree. The bile is quite something.

Thanks. Reading that it doesn’t actually sound like she’s adding much at all. Try and social distance in shops again (been doing that anyways), maybe best you don’t see too many people in one day (tick) and no extension of covid pass scheme.

So nothing really?
