Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

Good work on the walking and running @runningpink! I need to work some exercise into my day as my space at home for working out is out of action for a couple of days. Posting for accountability is great, I know it helps me. And when I read about other people's exercise it spurs me on!

WouldBeGood · 17/05/2022 16:53

Your steps are always so good @runningpink ! Well done on getting back on it.

Hope you fit in a bit of exercise @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

how you doing @mapleleavesreturn ?

I’ve been to the gym for weights, leg day. I felt a bit like a giant heifer as there were a few perfectly formed teenage girls on doing weights too, but then I realised I could lift loads more then them, so yay for my ancient sturdiness! 🤣

runningpink · 17/05/2022 20:35

Brilliant @WouldBeGood!

Im only working part time at the moment so I have more time for steps/exercise

Final tallies for today
24k steps
Just over 6 miles waking
3 mile run
Fitness class
2 lites ish of water (I lost track a bit)

Food wise…I’m going for a 6/10

mapleleavesreturn · 18/05/2022 07:54

24k steps running wow!!! Ooh look sun, sun, suuuunnn!! Not bad here, lots of salad eaten this week, not a lot of exercise though, busy week on the domestic admin front.

TeeNoG · 18/05/2022 09:42

Your exercise levels are awesome @runningpink - I hope you start feeling all better for it soon.

I'm still calorie counting and exercising as much as I can. Calorie counting is not the evil master I thought it would be, it's actually really helpful 😊 so thanks to those who brought it to my attention!

Going a run with 2 friends tonight, loving that the sun is out!

runningpink · 18/05/2022 10:27

It’s only because I don’t have full time work at the moment that I can do as many steps.
Working today so will be lucky to hit 10k steps.

As I do so much running, cycling, classes etc calorie counting just doesn’t work for me as I need more calories than the allowance.
I have meatballs and orzo for lunch and will have eggs or soup for tea.

Sun is out here as well but it’s very windy. We had some amount of rain last night. Good for the garden if nothing else

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/05/2022 14:57

Good work, I'm still not quite back on the boil yet, but getting there. I need heathy bbq ideas for sunny evenings (if we every get any). I should have my exercise space back from tomorrow and my energy is better so hoping to get back to where I was in March and then shake off a few more pounds in time for the summer holidays!

WouldBeGood · 18/05/2022 16:20

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Fish on the bbq is the perfect healthy option, but I think maybe you’re not a fan??
Also veg, like charred asparagus, broccoli, peppers, corn, even lettuce are nice and fill your plate, maybe with a nice greek yoghurt dressing and pitta, and a little bit of meat.

can you tell I’m hungry? 😃

I was the same as you @TeeNoG and have resisted calorie counting for years. It’s been a revelation! Good on you for running with people, good motivation.

Well done on the food @mapleleavesreturn More than half the battle.

@runningpink i have plenty time to get the steps in but just never do 🤣

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/05/2022 11:24

I'm not a big seafood lover but we do sometimes have scallops on the bbq!

I've got my workout space available again from today so looking forward (well, sort of!) getting a class in later.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/05/2022 20:16

Bodypump done, did a very short walk after dinner (just 2k) to get some steps in and some active calories, and managing to stay on track for 2nd day in a row. Gotta start again somewhere...

DH and I planned a (relatively) healthy week of meals for next week too.

How are you all doing?

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2022 23:26

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

i did my last run on my app today: 30mins but so bloody slow.

was pleased though as I’m not feeling great and was also annoyed by work. The exercise helped, though I’m shite at running.

Poor day calorie wise, cos wine.

PT tomorrow and hoping heel better

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/05/2022 12:51

Great work on the running @WouldBeGood - how are you feeling today?

I'm going to get a bodycombat in later, been good on the calories today to allow for wine later!

WouldBeGood · 20/05/2022 16:15

Thanks @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I’m feeling a bit under the weather, but still went pt and did a PB for the deadlift- obviously the preparation of a night of wine and a burger is the answer 🤣

Good luck with the combat, I do enjoy that. Keep thinking I’m go back to it, but think will stick with the jogging/weights for another couple of months and then see.

how’s everyone else doing?

runningpink · 22/05/2022 18:30

Amazing work @WouldBeGood on the running!

114k steps this week/16k average a day
Also First race completed since lockdown, it was slow but I don’t care

Lots of walks, four runs, one weights session, one fitness class, two Pilates classes

Food wise been up and down.

Need to drink more water, incorporate more weights and sort the food out!

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 18:55

Oh well done, @runningpink ! You are on it!

I’ve spent the weekend carousing, and stinking and eating. On the plus side, used loads of calories out dancing at a gig 🤣

Right back on it tomorrow

runningpink · 22/05/2022 19:16

Feel like I’m getting there
exercise wise but I really need to make more effort food wise.

I was hoping to cycle tomorrow but the way my body feels not sure that will
happen!

I’m assuming stinking is drinking?!
Im having a medicinal wine for my aching body!

Any websites you guys like for recipes? Meals/food don’t excite me so that makes it difficult as well.
Bakign cakes on the other hand I have no issue with!

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 19:49

Oops! Yes! Drinking. Not today though 😃

Meals: I try just to think about protein and calorie targets and plan the day’s food accordingly, just accepting that some isn’t my favourite, but is still tasty and filling.

i use turkey mince a lot, to make chilli for tacos; feta and turkey burgers. Also been eating a lot of fish and prawns, tuna too. I have lots of books, but to be honest I often just use the bbc good food recipes.

Eggs and bacon medallions for breakfast; tin of tuna in a pitta with veg and salsa for lunch; chicken fajitas for tea would be a typical day, with protein high snacks like the Lidl puddings, light babybels, a shake or a bar. Still loads of calories left for wine 🤣

mapleleavesreturn · 23/05/2022 10:01

Way too much drinking this weekend, and delicious Middle Eastern food, and idleness. This week though, my halo shall choke me at last!

But I put on a dress last worn last summer and it fits slightly better and doesn't look awful!!

I'm sauntering through Nigel's real fast food today but I mostly google recipes despite an impressive vanity cookbook selection.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/05/2022 15:45

Hi everyone! Lots of indulging at the weekend here too.

Recipes - we use pinch of nom a lot. Usually have eggs if some description for breakfast midweek and soup for lunch. Which is a bit boring but low in calorie so helps balance out the week. About to do body combat!

Well done on the race @runningpink and yay! for the dress @mapleleavesreturn

😂 on @WouldBeGood stinking!

WouldBeGood · 23/05/2022 18:02

Hello! It’s stinking me back! I actually probably do stink tonight: I went to gym to do weights and then got huckled into doing a charity spin class. So, good day despite my weekend.

Sounds like we all enjoyed the weekend. Middle Eastern food sounds so good @mapleleavesreturn And that’s great about the dress, makes it all worthwhile.

hope combat went well @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo . I’m definitely not trying it after a twinge in my knee after leaping around at the gig 😳😳

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 24/05/2022 13:16

Good work on the exercise @WouldBeGood though it's a shame that knee is still twingy!

I've just had lunch, yet STARVING. Harrumph. But I want to lose half a stone by the time I go on holiday in 6 weeks so need to keep focused!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/05/2022 15:41

I haven't lost any weight this last week, though I haven't put any on either. Need to work a bit harder to break this plateau! 6 weeks until my holidays and I had a goal of half a stone!

How are you all doing?

WouldBeGood · 25/05/2022 16:05

Hello, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo and glad you’re still on it. Not bad after covid and recovery.

luckily. leaping around with my great weight whilst pished seems to have had no lasting I’ll effects on knee. Been sticking to calories this week, attempted a run yesterday but was pants, gym today for legs in between work. I’m feeling bloated- suspect might be the drink 😳

But it was nice on Saturday to put on my outfit and find it too big! Change of jacket and I was away. Must try on the outfit for the wedding next week..

How you doing @TeeNoG @runningpink @mapleleavesreturn ??

mapleleavesreturn · 25/05/2022 16:34

Not bad so far, could be better but no major diet busting moves so far this week! Trying to find motivation to finish strong - so nice when you put something on and you're not hoping the zip doesn't break!
