Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo that's a solid plan, I may change my weigh in day! Hope you're feeling better later, it's rubbish feeling exhausted all the time.

@WouldBeGood thanks 😊 and yes, I DO feel better for it. Mentally I feel better, and physically I feel trimmer. Onwards!

runningpink · 25/04/2022 10:16

Hi all,

Sounds like you are all making progress in the right direction. well done!

Im hoping life will be a bit less hectic now so I will have time to chat with you guys and get my bum I’m gear. Realised iv hardly eaten a proper meal in weeks so meal plan has been done

Running is going ok. Have managed to increase the distance but being very cautious.

I seen photos of myself at the weekend and I look awful. Also going away for a night at weekend and nothing fits. Im
so annoyed with myself for allowing this to happen

I think if I could shift 1/2 a stone I’d see a
difference and a Stone is feel
comfortable again.

Making a change takes time, at least we're all making an effort - mine isn't always as fast or continuous as I'd like but compared to lots of the lockdown I'm not ploughing several g&ts and many crisps several times a week so I feel good about that.

running sure you are your own worst critic as I am and the photos are a lot nicer, just frustrating when you can see you're not where you'ld like to be!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/04/2022 18:09

Of course, I could be feeling rubbish because I do actually have covid...

WouldBeGood · 25/04/2022 19:30

Oh no, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ! The lurgy!

TeeNoG · 25/04/2022 20:30

@runningpink , @mapleleavesreturn is absolutely right, I'm sure you're the only one who thinks you look bad in the photos, be kind to yourself ❤️.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, time to rest up! Hope you feel better soon.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/04/2022 05:58

Agree you are probably being unn cessation hard on yourself @runningpink I do understand how it feels when you are unhappy with photos - funnily enough I was looking at some holiday photos from a few years back and almost can't bear to look at them. I said yo DH that we should go back to get some better pictures of ourselves (he want on best form either) and he agreed!

Half a stone is a good goal though, even with a slow and steady pound per week that's achievable in time for summer.

Thanks for all the good wishes re covid. I'm feeling a bit grotty but hopefully will recover soon. Keen to get back on the exercise and calorie counting (I'm not going to count whilst feeling under par) so that I can also try for another half a stone by the summer and enjoy looking at the photos!

WouldBeGood · 26/04/2022 08:13

Oh, @runningpink I agree with the others, don’t despair! I’d love to just have half a stone or a stone to lose 🤣

Quite right @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo and I hope you feel better soon. It’s interesting you felt washed out before positive, that’s what happened with me. Try to take it easy and I’ll make the effort to do my “run” as you can’t.

Hope you’re doing ok @TeeNoG !

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/04/2022 09:26

Thanks @WouldBeGood - yes, the baton is with you this week! I'm definitely not going to overdo it.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/04/2022 09:26

Thanks @WouldBeGood - yes, the baton is with you this week! I'm definitely not going to overdo it.

mapleleavesreturn · 26/04/2022 11:36

Same here, knew I was coming down with something before testing positive...

Closer to 2 stone has crept on in the last 2-3 years here!

Still, the scales were promising this morning, I do not think 'that's still 7.7 Kg over your previous pre pandemic worst weight of all time' 😂

WouldBeGood · 26/04/2022 13:02

@mapleleavesreturn good to hear!

I went the old lady jog, despite not feeling it! Went ok, but oh, the bloody hills 🤣

runningpink · 26/04/2022 15:44

Oh no @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo i hope you feel better soon

I just know that I can see the weight iv gained in these photos so there is no hiding/denial anymore

I’m sure I need to lose more than a stone but 1 stone would make a difference to being comfortable and more clothes fitting.

5k run done this morning was hard and slow but it’s completed

mapleleavesreturn · 26/04/2022 17:00

My last run was two years ago so well done would and running

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/04/2022 18:27

Focus on the short term goals peeps! That's my motivational chat from my sofa anyway Smile Lots of rest here, feel marginally better than I did yesterday (I think).

WouldBeGood · 28/04/2022 13:48

Hope you’re feeling better @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo and that everyone else is on track!

I went to gym for leg day yesterday, and finished Wk 3 of the running app. It’s a bit different in that it’s always one minute run, one minute walk. 40 minutes today and it went well, got that good feeling!

TeeNoG · 28/04/2022 20:30

That's fab @WouldBeGood, well done.

I'm feeling very well and full of energy this week. Not sure if it's the fasting or just the weather changing! Will see what the scales say next week, hopefully they'll match my feeling.

How are you @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo? Hope you're feeling a bit better.

WouldBeGood · 28/04/2022 21:29

Thanks @TeeNoG and glad you’re full of beans!

Hows everyone else doing?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/04/2022 00:28

Thanks all! I am much better, just in that fairly routine 'getting over a cold' kind of feeling. We are going away for the weekend tomorrow after much deliberation. I am as confident as I can be that my risk of being infectious is low (successive close contacts make it difficult to start my 7/10 day count) and I don't have a continuous cough, fever or loss of smell.

I am feeling a bit cheated though. Friends with covid reported weight loss and I have largely been ravenous for carbs!!!

WouldBeGood · 29/04/2022 02:59

Have a great weekend @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ! That’s annoying, but carbs are the best, and a great comfort when you’re feeling ropey 😃

mapleleavesreturn · 30/04/2022 09:37

Ha no covid weight loss happened here what !! Hope you continue to feel better.

A bit too much wine last night but back at it today!

WouldBeGood · 30/04/2022 13:19

PT yesterday, it was great, lifted heavy things! Run today: Wk 4 started. Had lots of wine last night but today ok so far!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/04/2022 16:03

Well done @WouldBeGood you are properly on it. We're away for the weekend which is lovely and restful, but it is revolving around food. But I have got 18k steps in so that's one mouthful of cake worked off... 😂

runningpink · 02/05/2022 15:00

Im back from a weekend away in England! It was so nice to have normality for the most part, no stupid announcements, very few masks etc

Lots of waking and running and I covered 23 miles over the two days!
Had alcohol and cooked breakfasts but overall not too crazy.

But I am back on it today 1 million percent even if it kills me!

How was your weekend @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo?

Amazing work on the running and weights @WouldBeGood

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/05/2022 16:05

That's a lot of steps @runningpink well done!

Really enjoyed our weekend, though I was exhausted in the evening. A bit of post-covid tiredness I think. Ate fairly indulgently, but light-ish on the booze and managed around 25k steps between sat/sun. Scrapped a planned walk today and headed home early, partly due to tiredness and partly due to weather, but actually we've had a productive afternoon and I feel organised for the week ahead.

Work on the house means I have no exercise space until Thursday (I hope), but will try to keep active and eat well tomorrow/Wednesday before getting back on it properly on Thursday. Countdown to the summer holidays and beach wear now!!
