@latissimusdorsi

Oh sorry to hear that *@ssd* you've been doing so well recently, getting out loads. Do you think it's change in the weather? Can you keep making plans to get out and about?
Thanks latis. TBH i think i need a walk, ive been doing well but today i was off work and just sat around, watching too much news and reading too much mn...getting out and about definitely lifts my mood, but sometimes its just a struggle keeping motivated. The change in weather doesn't help either...and the football!!!
WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 20:12

The football was not a mood booster!

ssd · 14/06/2021 20:14

Definitely not. My house is all football mad males and its on a downer now...

latissimusdorsi · 14/06/2021 20:15

@WouldBeGood

The football was not a mood booster!

True!!!!!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 20:19

I dunno, the score was shit, but it was a decent game to watch and great to see crowds of people again.

ssd · 14/06/2021 20:22

It was great to see people having a good time....till the goals went in....and the weather turned colder....ds going to London for that game and its meant to be hellish weather down there Sad

ssd · 14/06/2021 20:22

Still the pubs will be warm

I know this is the Railing thread, but I'm actually feeling more upbeat after listening to Boris than I expected to! I had fully expected the same kind of caveated language we get up here, with undefined endpoints and vague talk of protecting the NHS and needing more evidence, but actually came away with a degree of confidence that in four weeks time they will actually lift the remaining restrictions (and therefore there will be pressure on NS to do something approaching the same). They presented data in charts so you can see trends (which I wish NS would do) and made clear that the delay was to get more people vaccinated and laid out exactly what their targets for that were so we can all keep an eye on progress. They even said that they might lift restrictions earlier if the data support it. As @Scottishskifun says I was also very glad to hear them explicitly state that elimination wasn't possible, we have to live with it, and the language was clearly directed towards ensuring the NHS is protected and that's it - none of this 'suppressing as low as possible' or 'managing like Measles' nonsense that we sometimes get up here.

I truly think there is a massive difference in tone between this type of briefing and the ones NS gives - she doesn't give much hope, and any positive news is always caveated with some grave warning. To be fair to him, Boris was always clear that June 21st was the earliest date and subject to the four tests, but at least their end point is the lifting of all restrictions and they genuinely seem to want to do that. Instead our end point is 'level 0' where I still can't have my whole family round at the same time, and as far as I'm aware there is no target or plan for the full lifting of restrictions at all!

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 20:41

That’s true @SoMuchForSummerLove and it sounded good. The Spanish fans are noisy too tonight! I love a good football support 😃

That sounds fun for your boy @ssd. We are watching at home with English supporter my DS 🤣

Yes he's so looking forward to it!

Groovee · 14/06/2021 20:50

Parking my bum!

ssd · 14/06/2021 20:56

I posted earlier about a friend who registered for the vaccine as an unpaid carer a while ago, she hasn't heard anything yet but she phoned the vaccine line and they confirmed she is registered, but just has to wait for her appointment...meanwhile my neighbours daughter aged 19 has an appointment for next week and she said a couple of her pals are the same....whats going on? Are young people being done before unpaid carers now?

ssd · 14/06/2021 20:57

My friend is young too, she helps her gran out, but im baffled Confused

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 20:59

That is really weird @ssd. I reckon she should ring them again and be firm

OP posts:
ssd · 14/06/2021 21:04

She told me she did but they said they cant do anything until an appointment is shown for her. They said she is registered but has to wait for appointment!!

Lidlfix · 14/06/2021 21:09

3 of my DDs have an appointment on the same day next week 19, 21, 23. Not all same address or GP surgery. Same surname though. They all registered on the first day they could sign up. Forth Valley so a fairly average role out rate.

Agree she should call again.

rookiemere · 14/06/2021 21:10

This has happened to a few friends registering as carers, I think once you're on that list then you're taken out of the main list and it often appears that appointments are slower rather than faster than general populace. However it looks like they do prioritise you for second vaccination.

StarryEyeSurprise · 14/06/2021 21:13

Possibly, unpaid carers aren't viewed as priorities now due to nearly all over 60s being double vaccinated?

ssd · 14/06/2021 21:14

So weird you would be on a slower list than the general public. I'll advise her to call again but knowing her she would have stood her ground when she did call them..

ssd · 14/06/2021 21:15

I'm wondering if she could ask to be taken off the unpaid carers list then?
Seems daft right enough.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 21:31

It does! DD 19 getting hers tomorrow south Lanarkshire

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 21:37

Railing against trains. Ironically.
Want to get the train to Edinburgh on Monday next week and it’s nuts: over two hours, must be work 🙄

OP posts:
latissimusdorsi · 14/06/2021 21:44

@ssd she may show as waiting for an appointment but has definitely been missed. I'm know 2 unpaid carers in 20s and 30s who've just had their 2nd dose

ssd · 14/06/2021 21:56

Good grief!!

What can i advise her to do? She has called the helpline very recently and filled in a missing appointments thing online. She's feeling stuck...

shouldistop · 14/06/2021 21:57

Are there any drop ins running near by @ssd ?
