@WouldBeGood

Help! Is it still the case that you can’t go to hospital with someone? My dad has had a fall but it’s hours for me to travel and no point of can’t get in
When Mr G was in he named me as his nominated visitor. I had to phone to book an appointment as they only allow visitor per room at once. His mate turned up unannounced and was turned away for not being me.

So I would call the ward in the morning.

Scottishskifun · 08/07/2021 22:03

@StarryEyeSurprise too early to say as its new research and a new virus.

Most of the antibody information coming from other studies into covid antibodies from people who have had the infection is approx 8 months easy detectable antibodies. After which point they have T cell memory (the memory cells which will then release antibodies at detection of a virus) so although a few people are catching it a second time its not that many and majority are either mild cases or asystomatic (this was before vaccines) so data is looking good 😊

Either way some protection is better than no protection!

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 22:36

Thanks @Groovee. It’s four hour round trip. Bloody hell.

Sorry to hear your dad is in hospital @WouldBeGood
I hope he is doing ok and you are able to visit at some point

My gran has been in hospital a few times over this last year and it’s varied each time about visitors.
One nominated, no visitors and the small local hospital anyone as long as you make an appointment

WouldBeGood · 09/07/2021 09:02

Thanks @runningpink. I hope to find out today what will happen. The nurse last night was very clear that no visitors! It’s a Covid hotspot. We shall see!

latissimusdorsi · 09/07/2021 09:10

You'll probably find it's the hospital that's Covid hotspot!
Friend has parent in hospital at moment
In Lothian it's one designated visitor can book for one hr visit per day

WouldBeGood · 09/07/2021 09:14

Yes, I reckon it will be! Not ideal, but he’s double jagged though very frail. He’s in Tayside.

Oh no. Sorry to hear about your dad wouldbegood Flowers It does seem inhumane not allowing visitors Sad Would he be up for a video call or similar if there is someone to arrange it for him?

latissimusdorsi · 09/07/2021 09:16

He's double jagged he'll be fine
Hope things improve for him soon

titsintiers · 09/07/2021 10:17

Sorry to hear about your Dad @WouldBeGood hope he makes a speedy recovery.

riverrunning · 09/07/2021 10:19

Yes good wishes to your dad wouldbegood

Anybody else thinking of booking a holiday post 19 July? Might wait for Tuesday and then see...

Icannever · 09/07/2021 10:27

We’ve been to hospital in Dundee in the last week to visit an elderly relative on her last legs. Hope your dads feeling better soon

Icannever · 09/07/2021 10:28

The costs of tests still puts me off booking a holiday and living in fear of testing positive, can’t cope with the disappointment.

latissimusdorsi · 09/07/2021 11:13

It's fear of one of us testing positive on way BACK and not being allowed on plane that puts me offConfused

StarryEyeSurprise · 09/07/2021 11:32

I would incase the country's moved to red when you're there ( aka Portugal and others) and you have to pay a fortune for early flights home or quarantine if you can't get back in time. Not worth the stress for me.

StarryEyeSurprise · 09/07/2021 11:32

*wouldn't

Icannever · 09/07/2021 11:39

Yep looking forward to a holiday and planning what we’ll do etc is as much fun as the holiday for me and covid takes all that pleasure away as your too worried about not being able to go or being stuck there 😬. Life sucks

forfucksakenett · 09/07/2021 11:44

I can't wait for a foreign holiday. Seeing peoples pictures is making me sad! First world problem for sure but I do miss it.

titsintiers · 09/07/2021 11:57

Me too @forfucksakenett just going somewhere with some almost guaranteed sun, different food and drink and a change of scenery is good for the soul.

Scottishskifun · 09/07/2021 12:09

I think we will see what is happening in Sept then book a last minute trip. But we will be flying out of London anyway as my DPs take the dog so might get us around any Scottish travel regs!
I don't mind sorting a test out if it's straight forward and some of the companies are cheap

riverrunning · 09/07/2021 13:30

covid's brought out my inner holiday gambler - in reality, if you go with tui, jet2 and have good travel insurance it's a pretty low risk endeavour imho.

The weather has sucked so badly here recently - everyone is in a bad mood today and the cloudy, muggy, midgy weather is a large part of it.

forfucksakenett · 09/07/2021 13:35

Bimbo bread with jam and freezing Fanta 😭

ResilienceWanker · 09/07/2021 14:34

Grin Right, I have to ask. WTF is bimbo bread. Is that a Scottish thing that I don't ever have a chance of understanding being a dirty incomer?

forfucksakenett · 09/07/2021 14:41

Noooo! It's Spanish. Might actually be specific to the Balearics but I don't know. It's just a really popular Spanish loaf.

ResilienceWanker · 09/07/2021 14:45

Ah Blush - whoops! Shows how well-travelled I'm not. I assumed it was something like bread dipped in sugar and lard and deep fried or something. And I'm quite glad that that doesn't actually exist.
