So irresponsible. Here we go again. Will Glasgow ever be out of lockdown?
@Weareallabitcomplicated well said 👏.

Plenty people don’t want to hear it though as it doesn’t suit their “agenda”. Faux outrage at the big bad Rangers supporters while what happened at Parkhead is swept under the carpet.

Was there some disgraceful scenes yesterday at George Square? Of course there was, no-one is denying it. But the reason is hardly just a Rangers problem but a west of Scotland as a society problem. Drink, drugs, gangs etc is a blight on the community as a whole and due to the sheer number of fans Rangers have compared to other clubs there will of course be elements of scumbags within the support.
Show me another team in those numbers marauding through a city centre wishing death upon a section of society.

I'll wait. I'll wait a while I would imagine.

Why was my comment deleted?

Celtic are knee deep in an ongoing legal claim about co-ordinated child abuse at their club that went from the top down and was/is a massive cover up.

Jim Torbett, the founder of Celtic Boys Club, has just been charged again yesterday with more crimes. It is horrific.

It is the biggest scandal in Scotland.

But let's all focus on other clubs.

Selkiesarereal · 16/05/2021 17:28

Bloody hell, this thread is really frightening to read with “sides” so entrenched in their whataboutery rather than the normal thing and agree that it was arsehole thugs who caused absolute carnage last night.

Of course a proportion are doing it in the name of their glorious team but as with all of these things, the hangers on always come out. And no o am not condoning their behaviour in any way.

The sectarian shite truly runs deep.

The old firm is quite horrific and o would love to know what Edinburgh did to stamp out the hooligans of hearts and hibs.

Christinayangtwistedsister · 16/05/2021 17:28

There is now goi g to be a police enquiry into a number of people driving through a Jewish area shouting " fuck your mother", why is sectarian abuse not investigated here?

Christinayangtwistedsister · 16/05/2021 17:32

I'm glad your comment was deleted, using historical sexual abuse as a weapon was totally inappropriate, bringing the ops children in to it was a new low .

Broxigirl · 16/05/2021 17:33

@forfucksakenett show me another team in Scotland with same amount of supporters as Rangers?

What about the other mob who sing about glorifying terrorists and killing British soldiers?

Just you pick and choose what offends you though, we can all do it too.

2pinkginsplease · 16/05/2021 17:35

@forfucksakenett not deluded. Just a realist.

I've worked in pubs and clubs for the last 19 years. I've seen the vile abuse on both sides of the coin.

I'm not looking at this through my own clubs tinted glasses. I'm looking at it as someone who has worked through it, lived through it and both clubs are as bad as each other. End of!

eatsleepread · 16/05/2021 17:36

Absolute scumbags.

Serpenta · 16/05/2021 17:36

I'll tell you what offends me, endless orange marches. One of the best things about 2020 was their absence. Any sincere steps towards tackling sectarianism in the West of Scotland should start by banning those,

Selkiesarereal · 16/05/2021 17:43

And now child sex abuse cases is being brought into this discussion. What a fucked up place this is.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 16/05/2021 17:46

@Weareallabitcomplicated

Celtic fans organising a gathering today

Zero irony Grin

I hardly think it's the same. They may be gathering, but I doubt the will be passing all over the streets, knocking 7 shades of shit out of each other, trashing public property. Comparing the two is actually a bit embarrassing. Also, so glad to get that second hand input from your dh. Glad we have the higher authority that is your dh, telling us all how it is. We couldn't possibly make up our own minds.
frasersmummy · 16/05/2021 17:49

Yes football is tribalism.. if course it is ..it's about rallying round your club colours ..it's about rivalry and passion
And rivalry and passion run high.on derby Day...in all the leagues ..Clyde partick, st.mirren Greenock Hibs hearts
The wee clubs celebrate wins as well ..of course we do ..and where there is drink there is drama and idiots . The small clubs just have less idiots as they have less fans so it's not so much of a problem

But ..and this is a huge but ..the tribalism in West of Scotland is underpinned in our 2 biggest clubs by a deep seated religious hatred which is cancerous not only to the game but the west of Scotland in general

Christinayangtwistedsister · 16/05/2021 17:52

Frasersmummy

Totally agree

reprehensibleme · 16/05/2021 17:52

Serpents, agree totally. We were caught up in the middle of one in Glasgow a couple of years ago and the saddest aspect was the number of children taking part - perpetuating the problem down the generations. Sad

ssd · 16/05/2021 17:53

15,000 fans gathered yesterday. Jesus christ.

Christinayangtwistedsister · 16/05/2021 17:55

15,000 and 25 arrests, the numbers don't really add up

Quincie · 16/05/2021 17:55

But the 'deep seated religious hatred' is by non practicing oiks with no interest in the bible or it's teachings.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 16/05/2021 17:57

Fucking hell could we think of another phrase other that "the tinted glasses". That's getting boring to read!

ssd · 16/05/2021 18:02

@Christinayangtwistedsister

15,000 and 25 arrests, the numbers don't really add up
On the bbc Scotland news they said there are more arrests to come.
Christinayangtwistedsister · 16/05/2021 18:05

I'm glad as 25 just doesn't seem enough

dancerdog · 16/05/2021 18:05

But ..and this is a huge but ..the tribalism in West of Scotland is underpinned in our 2 biggest clubs by a deep seated religious hatred which is cancerous not only to the game but the west of Scotland in general

I have been on the end of religious hatred, all my young life. It was one sided. We didn't hate those who insulted us, we feared them.

The team that I support has NEVER had a religion - excluding signing policy. Another team did have such a policy for about a century. That is deep-seated religious hatred.

Well no, let's focus on the topic of the thread.

Start you're own if you want to discuss child abuse.

If your DH agrees, that is.

What about.......

Truly, truly pathetic

Broxigirl · 16/05/2021 18:11

@dancerdog religious hatred is one sided? Not what your own player Nir Bitton says after him and his wife were abused by your own supporters!

Solasta · 16/05/2021 18:12

The old firm is quite horrific and o would love to know what Edinburgh did to stamp out the hooligans of hearts and hibs.

I know quite a few people who were hearts casuals in years gone by. Blanket lifetime bans for those causing trouble was one thing that seemed to help.
