So irresponsible. Here we go again. Will Glasgow ever be out of lockdown?

OP posts:
ssd · 16/05/2021 10:35

You might be waiting a while @forfucksakenett

Its interesting the only thing posters here can say is 'Well it would be the same with Celtic '

Hardly a condemnation of what went in. Pathetic.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 16/05/2021 10:39

@IceSwallowCome

"It was you going on about celtic fans and people are only moaning because they must be celtic fans."

Actually that point was already made up thread by someone else. They probably weren't wrong though, since it didn't take long for the tired old "sevco" patter to get wheeled out.

"Two cheeks of the same arse? Not really."

Keep telling yourself that OP 👍

I didn't comment on what was said upthread though. I commented on your post. Seems you can't give an explanation for your tripe though. I'm guessing you were just parroting what was said by someone else (which I didn't read), and don't really have any understanding of what you mean by it.
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 16/05/2021 10:43

And as someone who couldn't give a shiney shit about football, and supports no team at all, and was never brought up in a family that did. I can say from an unbiased view that there are no fans in scotland worse than rangers fans. They always take it too far and knowing a lot of rangers fans, I can safely say than many many of them could not give a shit about the actual game. It's used as an excuse. It's pathetic!

RaspberryCoulis · 16/05/2021 10:43

Great to see sectarianism rife on Scotsnet.

As an atheist football hater I have no horse in this race. All the Celtic fans trying to make out they are superior to Rangers fans, and that the Rangers fans are in some way a different breed - can you not see how fucking nuts this is? These people who smashed up George Square are a subset of the Scottish population as a whole. Their religion and football affiliation is irrelevant. Yobs are yobs are yobs.

The whole "Oh but Celtic wouldn't do x or y" and "Celtic fans aren't like that" is just perpetuating the Catholics v Protestants sectarian divide.

ssd · 16/05/2021 10:52

No its not raspberry. There needs to be facts here. A poster asked for proof of celtic fans doing what happened last night and we are still waiting. Its easy to throw all old firm football fans into one humongous mass of sectarianism. Thats the way most non fans will loftily see this. But ime most fans are decent hard working people who just happen to love a certain club. And would be utterly disgusted at last night, whether their club is involved or not. As i said before, many true rangers fans are appalled at what happened.
As is any decent person. And theres lots of idiots on both sides as well as lots of decent folk.

I hate the tarring of all old firm fans i see so often.

thedevilinablackdress · 16/05/2021 11:00

I agree with what iminaglasscase
I grew up in Lanarkshire, went to a 'non denominational' school, one parent from. Catholic family, one from a Protestant. I've had sectarian hatred leveled at me from both sides. But Rangers fans and the Orange Order are, IME, the worst. Sometimes there's not much in it, but I know when I've felt most afraid.

IceSwallowCome · 16/05/2021 11:07

Forgive me for not being an MNs beck and call 24/7.

Anyway, a quick google search is your friend here:

Celtic fans throwing bottles at a female Rangers employee Celtic fans having a "protest" in Amsterdam

Don't bother replying, cba being told how they're "not the same", or it's different because of xyz reasons, or but big bad Rangers fans did abc, or whatever.

This was going to happen regardless of who won the league, and to kid on it wouldn't is stupid. A blind man could have seen this coming. Does that make it ok? No. Does that mean that the sfa/government/police could and should have been thinking about it months ago and tried to think of a way to at least contain it? Absolutely.

Graffitiqueen · 16/05/2021 11:13

What an embarrassment to Scotland. The behaviour last night was an utter disgrace.

ssd · 16/05/2021 11:15

Yes there's utter arseholes on both sides. But twice marching through the city streets with a police escort in their thousands, during a pandemic sort of takes the biscuit.
I agree about the police though.

RaspberryCoulis · 16/05/2021 11:19

@ssd

And if I were a Rangers fan, which I'm not, I'd point out that Celtic haven't had anything to celebrate this season and if they had they would have been the ones celebrating and trashing the city.

This is not a Celtic/Rangers problem. It's a Scottish football problem.

2pinkginsplease · 16/05/2021 11:26

Celtic fans even out protesting and abusing their own players during lockdown, they were rioting outside parkhead attacking the players bus!

It happens on both sides of the city.

This is not just a rangers problem this is a football hooligan problem that comes with EVERY football team.

Celtic fans we’re out celebrating last year’s title in the midst of the pandemic too.

If Celtic had won 10IAR the same would have happened.

ssd · 16/05/2021 11:26

Raspberry, celtic won this title the last 9 years and didnt march from parkhead to George Square in their thousands.

2pinkginsplease · 16/05/2021 11:28
@IceSwallowCome when have they then?

Where is the evidence that Celtic fans have ever behaved like this?
😂😂😂😂😂😂

You really need to take off your green tinted glasses!

ssd · 16/05/2021 11:31

Posters here need to realise the difference between the usual pig ignorant drunk fans of either side fighting in the streets as against thousands marching with a police escort. Twice. During a pandemic.

2pinkginsplease · 16/05/2021 11:33

www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-scotland-55125383

Only a few months ago!

ssd · 16/05/2021 11:37

Yes totally. Hundreds of Celtic fans gathered outside the stadium. As opposed to thousands marching from ibrox to George Square, wrecking the place when they got there.

To compare them is just stupid.

Bloodypunkrockers · 16/05/2021 11:42

I agree with a PP about what has happened to scotsnet

This thread was, I thought, about a the shocking display yesterday

Nothing to do with Celtic
Nothing to do with jealousy Hmm
Everything to do with being disgusted at Neanderthal behaviour

thedevilinablackdress · 16/05/2021 11:45

Football has been used as an excuse for thuggery and hatred in Scotland for far too long.

forfucksakenett · 16/05/2021 12:22

Jeeso @2pinkginsplease if you think they're comparable then I don't think there is the possibility of reasoning with you tbh.

OP posts:
forfucksakenett · 16/05/2021 12:24

I hope they all get charged with their vile anti catholic chants. Enough is enough now.

OP posts:
Solasta · 16/05/2021 12:37

I don't see how people saying "celtic would have done the same" is in any way relevant.

Rangers fans did end of. We don't know how last night would have gone if it was celtic because they didn't win. We know how last night went with rangers because it happened.

The behaviour was atrocious and the police let it go until it was boiling over. Blame for this sits with the fans, the club, the police and the government.

The club changed its opening hours for the rangers shop. They did this to maximise profit from those they knew would flood to the city.

A disgrace to Scotland and Scottish football.

2pinkginsplease · 16/05/2021 12:37

@forfucksakenett your green tinted glasses are shining through for all to see! 😂😂😂That was just the first one that came up when I googled, there are many many examples, but do some research before you slate all rangers fans as the celtic side of the city can be just as vile. Behaviourwise as well as chants, songs etc. This was the reason my husband stopped going to matches and refused to encourage our son too.

Both as bad as each other at times.

Thankfully the majority of football fans can behave and celebrated at home!

I hate all this oh our fans would never do this and our fans always behave! You just need to google and see that it happens to every team.

Solasta · 16/05/2021 12:40

2pink

This is exactly why I won't let DH take DC to rangers games. My rule is they won't set foot in ibrox until they are old enough to pay for their ticket and transport. Thankfully they aren't all that interested and lean towards my team over rangers.

forfucksakenett · 16/05/2021 12:51

@2pinkginsplease you're absolutely deluded which is a shame but ultimately not my problem. A good day to you!
