Just in case railing remains required.
@Scottishskifun England may be getting their freedoms back but Boris, mixed message king extraordinaire, has been warning folk to be extra careful because according to him and his scientists the low numbers are as a result of lockdown and not the vaccines.

Great. Go out but don't go out. Open shops but try not to shop.

At least our messaging is clear.
I would still prefer the option to choose and not be spoken at like a naughty school child with the continual lecture!

Report progress. Advise of change in relation to travel and outdoor meetings
221 cases yesterday
133 in hospital
20 in intensive care
3 deaths

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 13/04/2021 12:10

What a lot of shite 🙄

Icannever · 13/04/2021 12:13

Do still need to be cautious.
Rates have been higher than in rest of U.K. but that is improving. Hairdressers are open. Schools returning. Have to be careful not to do to much all at once. Variant more infectious
However because data in last two weeks in encouraging we are in position to do something
Level 4 will move to level 3 on 26th for almost definite
Island communities - already in level 3. No universal opinion but will align islands with mainland for a period so travel will be allowed

Icannever · 13/04/2021 12:15

More generally expect whole Country to move to level 2 on may 17. Move to level one sometime in june, end of June level zero.
Tables will be published to show what levels involve today.
Later on in summer we do hope that level of normality well beyond level zero will be possible

Icannever · 13/04/2021 12:18

Here’s the change at last 🙄. Cannot throw caution to the wind (again)
Particularly boost mental health and wellbeing. Travel within Scotland. Can now leave local authority areas from Friday 16th April. Can travel anywhere within in Scotland for leisure or socialising.
From Friday 6 people from 6 households can meet outside. (This would have been very handy during the school holidays ☹️)

Icannever · 13/04/2021 12:19

Woohoo travel to England and Wales to be allowed from 26th April

UCOinanOCG · 13/04/2021 12:24

Is this different to what had been proposed earlier? I can't remember now.

Wbeezer · 13/04/2021 12:42

I dont think we were supposed to travel outside our counties until the 26th originally.

UCOinanOCG · 13/04/2021 12:48

Fair enough. I was planning to travel from Fife to Dundee on Sunday and had no idea it was not allowed. But now it will be fine!

mibbelucieachwell · 13/04/2021 12:51

Great. Our plans for DD and partner to have a barbecue in our garden on Friday will now be legal. Grin

I'm very pleased for people who've been holding off until 26th though.

RaspberryCoulis · 13/04/2021 12:58

Just posted on the other thread - this will make zero difference to me as we have been breaking this ridiculous "stay in your local authority area" rule throughout. Because it's mental.

Travelling tomorrow well out of my local authority area to see my (fully vaccinated) parents who haven't seen the kids since August.

StarryEyeSurprise · 13/04/2021 13:01

Has she mentioned self catering or is that still 26th?

RedactedTaeFeck · 13/04/2021 13:04

I've not being leaving my local authority but not because of fear of getting covid or of getting caught. I've not left as I can now barely leave my house due to the mental impact of the restrictions.

No judgement on anyone else though :)

Also, if case reductions are not due to the vaccine why are the vast majority of the cases now in the unvaccinated population?

RedactedTaeFeck · 13/04/2021 13:08

Interestingly. The last lifting of restrictions allowed for leaving home for non essential purposes and almost immediately we had issues with parking at local beauty spots. Now locals will have no reason to avoid those are we were allowed to go to those for exercise, so really the only difference could have been people coming from outside the local area, so anecdotally, I'd say that people were pretty much taking the last change to mean that they could travel anyway.

I don't think she said it wasn't down to the vaccine - she said it wasn't solely down to the vaccine. Which is true.

But it will make a difference to lots of people! I think it's great news Grin

That's still 26th as I understand. She said travelling outside the council area was only to allow meeting/ exercising with other people and not shopping or holidays, I think (or something like that... I got a bit distracted at that point).
ScotlandUnited · 19/04/2021 15:27

first day back at secondary for DD and she's been texting us all day saying she's bored, not getting any work, and being told to just play on their phones! Angry

they might as well have stayed off!

DD also says no social distancing. Everyone hugging. Crowding together etc.

I really worry about DD and her peers falling behind and losing interest in school as a result of this past year.

Mistressinthetulips · 19/04/2021 16:02

No idea why they'd get no work? I have a very full day planned for mine! Could be something to do with "exam" planning I suppose. There will never be SD in school with full numbers.
By own personal rail would be that we were told over and over that other things had to be kept more restricted, in order for children to return fully to school, reopening schools is the priority. And yet lots more things are reopening and many (most?) people seem to have stopped following any rules/guidelines and yet schools are still "safer" than anywhere else. Fingers crossed they are right.
