Just in case railing remains required.

@rookiemere I keep worrying that I won’t be able to be arsed to travel to the gym. It seems such a major effort now.

I know @WouldBeGood I feel like my horizons have shrunk too much.

But then today I feel I haven't done much, but actually I went on walk with friend, purchased bacon and made bacon rolls for friends, got bus into town walked to Leith, got bus to Morningside bought wine and then got bus home and used hot tub.

So actually that's quite a lot Wink. The thought of going on a ski holiday terrifies me now. All that packing and exercising.

WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 22:03

That sounds like a good day @rookiemere!

I’m sure we’ll adapt quickly - I really really need the gym.

Treadmill tomorrow though 💪

@rookiemere i think the outdoor pools at the dl are already open in Scotland. We’ve been going with the kids for nearly a month, changing rooms are closed though. So it’s a quick towel down and into dressing how to drive home. Crossing fingers for no accident Blush

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 22:38

@tiredoftiers yes my friend has been going she says it's great as reduced membership cost and pool is all she uses, but I've only got a months gift membership- too tight to pay for a regular one as also go to neighbours outdoor classes - so I want to wait until the cafe is open as well.

tiredoftiers · 11/04/2021 22:39

@rookiemere quite right. Get the full benefit of it. Not too long to wait now albeit a frustrating one

user1487194234 · 12/04/2021 06:22

So envious of all the people in England getting out and about to shops, pubs and restaurants today
While we remain under virtual house address

tiredoftiers · 12/04/2021 07:37

Honestly if Nic came on today and said you can travel out your council areas it might be enough to swing my vote hopefully she is reading this Grin

riverrunning · 12/04/2021 07:43

I suspect she's storing up exactly that feeling for 26 April! Last week of the Easter holidays - fingers crossed for good weather, no freezing wind.

Yip, yet again we have had a harder/stricter lockdown and are no better off for it as we are still stuck with little to do.
Coquohvan · 12/04/2021 08:52

Railing and most likely (rule breaking) against how weak my arm muscles are. Been painting our DD & her DH gym in preparation for opening up in 26/4 2wks behind English gyms (sigh)
Next will be the big clean up, machines checked oiled & disinfected.
Bring on the 26th

LizzieMacQueen · 12/04/2021 08:58

Yip, yet again we have had a harder/stricter lockdown and are no better off for it as we are still stuck with little to do.

I know, what progress did we make last year when we were far stricter throughout? It all ended back at Square 1 anyway.

rookiemere · 12/04/2021 09:09

@Coquohvan the back of my thighs is still aching from the fairly modest kettlebells workout I did on Saturday. Clearly my running and outdoor classes have been missing certain bits of me.

Scottishskifun · 12/04/2021 09:15

I think England and Wales lock down was harsher on restriction of movement and fines for even travelling a few miles from your home for exercise compared to Scotland but had far better set ups in terms of support options and travel/opening up now.

Scotlands was also pot luck as if you live in a large local authority its a lot easier!
I am mostly frustrated with the lack of clarity from SG on multiple things.
No idea on travel restrictions border, Islands have zero info on travel, indoor play areas god knows, offices? Who knows it says some offices reopen from end of June.... What does that even mean?! There is no info and it's bloody annoying!

rookiemere · 12/04/2021 09:20

Yes @Scottishskifun there have been some elements that have been less strict during lockdown in Scotland rather than England mostly I think around exercising outside or being allowed to sit down or something.

But increasingly my frustration grows over these marginal differences. Scotland has around 8% of England population- why can't we just follow the UK rules and be done with it ? As others have said, it's not really resulted in any great difference in numbers.

I can just see England opening up international travel and Scotland not, but we'll still be hit by any new variants so what's the point of having separate policy.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 12/04/2021 09:24

It's weird isn't it. In Scotland people could play golf throughout, but not in England, then we open hairdressers a week before them, but gyms 2 weeks later.
Can't get children's feet measured but can go to the off licence, and now you can buy plants in the garden centre instead of B&Q. There is so little logic. Bearable for 3 weeks, not bearable for 4 months.

How many of you have children back to school today?

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 09:24

@rookiemere I really do agree that a UK wide policy would have been much better. It’s pointless having them separate as our infrastructure is so interlinked; the UK is small; it’s divisive and confusing; and the determination to be different and “win” has been shown to be hopeless.

Absolutely no information, except for the number of fans allowed at hampden. There’s so much that makes me really cross, and no clear guidance at all.

Apart from maybe 12 days in the run up to Christmas the central belt has been in effective lockdown since the end of November. The travel restrictions have been hugely discriminatory, higher density areas do not have the same freedom of movement as the lower ones. I feel there should have been some equity, some of my family in Stirling can walk in our local hills given the 5 mile from local authority boundary for exercise but in turn we cannot get anywhere close to where they stay. If you look at the areas people living in more rural areas can travel for exercise it’s huge, but folk within high density areas have much much smaller areas of freedom.

runningpink · 12/04/2021 09:26

I actually feel like I need a 1:1 discussion with Nicola to get all my anger and frustrations out and I guess some answers to the amount of things that have had no logic.
Know that will never happen but I think it would make me feel better.

Yes! That would be so satisfying.
OP posts:
runningpink · 12/04/2021 09:31

Do you think there will be potential for another lockdown in the near future? Whether that’s for the whole of Scotland or individual council areas?

Also has she indicted anything about stopping social distancing and masks? Both these things will still really restrict anything I will be able to do going forward.

Surely once everyone who is able to has been vaccinated these things should be a choice not law?

I couldn't be trusted to keep a civil tongue in my head if confronted with that woman.

And of course she hasn't said anything about relaxing social distancing and masks. Just wait to see what Boris says and know that it'll be another 3 months up here.

Very jealous of my charity shop volunteer colleagues in England and Wales who have opened up to the public again today.

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 09:43

I don’t know @runningpink. I’m not sure they’d get support for another one, but who knows?!

I’d like SD and masks to go too. I want to go to galleries and fun shopping, but not with masks. Or booking time slots. Spontaneous fun is what I’d like. That will probably be outlawed anyway though, if she gets back in.

My friend in France sent me this. Gendarmerie patrolling motorways at least we don’t have this (yet)

I now am wondering if I dreamt it but I'm sure I read somewhere that Chile are heading into a third wave / lockdown despite a very high vaccination rate. Sad
