Guilt Free Railing 5

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 07:49

Just in case railing remains required.

OP posts:
shouldistop · 25/03/2021 07:55

Railing will be required for a while yet I think!

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 08:12

I’ve just seen in the other thread that that fucker Swinney is saying secondary pupils maybe not back full time after Easter, so that’s fired me up for railing.

Apparently they’ll tell us on 6th April.... mid Easter holidays. This is cruel.

OP posts:
titsintiers · 25/03/2021 08:21

Thanks for the thread @WouldBeGood, I predict some long term railing.

That's shite about schools, makes me question everything else that's been said.

shouldistop · 25/03/2021 08:24

That's really shit Sad your son is s1 isn't he would?

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 08:29

He is @shouldistop. I just can’t believe they’ve started this uncertainty and rubbish again.

rookiemere · 25/03/2021 08:33

6th April is my birthday. Second birthday in lockdown and this news to look forward to. Why bother announcing schools are going back if you don't bloody mean it ? Bit of inconsistency if most hairdressers open up on the date that our young people get shafted.

And you know they'll want primaries in and the exam years, so yet again S1-S3 will be shafted.

rookiemere · 25/03/2021 08:33

Sorry too much shafting involved Blush. I'm a bit incandescent at the minute.

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 08:35

Me too @rookiemere.

I think it’s also cos I’m angry with myself for having believed anything they say.

OP posts:
rookiemere · 25/03/2021 08:36

So what was the point of the announcement the other week then?
Roadmap out of this bollocks, then don't cancel the football which guarantees increased cases, then put on the wee sad face and deny our children an education.

It feels like gaslighting- probably because it is. I don't recall her saying cases have to go below x number for secondaries to be fully open.

ResilienceWanker · 25/03/2021 08:41

Thanks would. Yes, railing definitely still needed. I can't believe that about the schools. It would be a truly crazy decision not to fully open them. I'm holding out some hope that they realise it would be a disaster for them on election day if they roll back on their promise... Especially as England hasn't had huge case increases over the past 3 weeks. But frankly, who knows. They'd probably still win even if they demanded every first born.

rookiemere · 25/03/2021 08:45

And no way to protest as Usforthem bunch of unhinged lunatics. Got an email from them yesterday about some petition to stop mask wearing in schools, even before this latest nugget it felt a bit like Nero fiddling whilst Rome burnt.

DeepfriedPizza · 25/03/2021 08:45

So the kids are being shafted again, they can't enjoy the Easter break because they will be anxious about School. Teachers won't be able to enjoy their break because they won't know what the fuck they are doing.

Really unfair

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/03/2021 08:48

I'd imagine that the majority of high school parents would be in the 40s so maybe if they get on with vaccination of that group, it would help with reducing any transmission brought back from schools? I appreciate that it was decided not to deviate from the age groups for groups 1-9, but maybe there needs to be reconsideration for the population below to target those most at risk of spreading?

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 08:48

Exactly @DeepfriedPizza. It’s rubbish fir everyone involved.

@rookiemere I’ve emailed Swinney just to feel I’ve done something. 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
rookiemere · 25/03/2021 08:49

Well I feel a bit vindicated now in not forcing DS to do the lateral flow tests (NB if he had symptoms I would get him a proper test and keep off school )Why the f should I play ball with a system and government that treats my DS as if he's worthless?

I need to dig out last weeks speeches although doubtless there will be some weasly wording I've not spotted.

SNP supporters don't seem to care. Sainted Nicola is keeping us SAFE apparently.

rookiemere · 25/03/2021 08:56

It's in the roadmap, written down. All children back to full time education after Easter holidays. Mind you a qualifying paragraph for all of it is "provided things continue to go well". Glad we're having an adult conversation about all of this so we know what the empirical definition of "going well" actually means. I suspect it means that polls are showing that SNP support is going well enough to do what the heck they want.

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 08:58

I thought my opinion of them could not sink lower.

Presumably this means they are thinking more lockdown all round?

OP posts:
Chrysanthemum5 · 25/03/2021 09:04

We had an email from the DCs school (S5 and S2 here) saying they were planning on full time after Easter but it depended upon the Scottish Government. So now the teachers and Head Teacher will have to spend their time developing contingency plans in case they don't open - rather than thinking about actual teaching (and having a well deserved Easter break).

The low point for me was hearing comments on the radio from older people saying they've had their jab and want to go on holiday and live their lives. Not any acknowledgement that young people are continuing to have their lives put on hold to protect others - government freely admits transmission between young people at school isn't a problem for them only an issue for the older people they mix with.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 25/03/2021 10:29

My rail of the last few days: too much damned wind!

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 25/03/2021 10:31

School kids I know in England / wales are back full time from what I hear.
Mine has one day this week.

Groovee · 25/03/2021 11:04

@shouldistop they are cute. We're making them on Tuesday.

Mr G is getting there. I'm making more effort to move more. So hopefully it might put me in a happier mood.

@RaspberryCoulis I so wish I could book something but I have no idea where I stand with Mr G's health.

Bytheloch · 25/03/2021 11:51

Thanks for new railing thread #5, I’m guessing we’ll make it to double figures for railing threads!

shouldistop · 25/03/2021 11:54

Hopefully in a years time we can look back at these threads and life will be so much better.

Bytheloch · 25/03/2021 12:04

@WouldBeGood

I thought my opinion of them could not sink lower.

Presumably this means they are thinking more lockdown all round?

So much political BS tied up with this now. Do note how they’ve ramped up the power chat this week- NS cleared by Hamilton chum has enabled them to get back to business. Reassert the independence message and demonstrate they’re not afraid to use U.K. taxpayers money for a quick PR win to stab Westminster/voting bribe to the public sector.

They will contine to go it independently re tiers, further lockdowns etc. Schools? I think they’re waiting to see the data on English return, so it can be spun back and declared they got it right etc.

I’m done with them all, but I’m particularly ragey about how political the whole covid crisis has become. Anyone who buys into the ‘because I care’ chat along with the ‘insert my concerned face’ communications style is an utter fool.

Bytheloch · 25/03/2021 12:15

Sorry for the politics rage there, the railing thread is at its best without politics🙈
