Just in case railing remains required.

Do we think extra curriculars will restart when schools reopen fully after Easter or is that still going to be frowned upon?

Lockdownbear · 11/04/2021 09:46

I think extra curricular stuff might happen after the 27th but not before.

Mistressinthetulips · 11/04/2021 09:50

In primary or secondary? I doubt secondary staff will be thinking of much other than the SQA work to be honest for the forseeable.
We're supposed to be subject to lots of "extra mitigations" to make all being in safer so I don't think mixing year groups after school would be a good plan - doesn't mean some schools won't do it of course!

Mistressinthetulips · 11/04/2021 11:12

Sorry @dancemom I sound like I'm raining on your parade I don't mean to

dancemom · 11/04/2021 11:19

No absolutely not @Mistressinthetulips I was looking for a realistic answer, just desperate for a bit of normality

runningpink · 11/04/2021 14:36

Iv managed to bring my next counselling session forward to later this week thankfully.
Iv decided that I do need more help by way of medication as I can’t go on the way I am but want to discuss with counsellor before contacting the doctor.

I just needed to post this here to make my decision ‘ real’ so to speak

How’s everyone’s Sunday going?

DD helps at Rainbows and they've been told that the groups can only meet every other week, outside, because of social distancing. They are holding off until the week beginning the 26th as the Guide Hall where they are based is within spitting distance of the Glasgow city boundary and we all know you're instantly struck down by the plague if you dare to cross into another local authority area. Her dancing class is back that week too, I think though they have split the classes so there are fewer people there at each class.

DS does drama at a theatre school in Glasgow city centre, he's not been since before Christmas. They have children coming from several different local authority areas so again are waiting until the 26th April. They have other rules too - things like masks when moving between rooms, no parents inside when dropping off and staggered start/finish times.

Sports is already allowed for children so there is no reason why football, hockey, rugby etc shouldn't be on already.

Out of interest I have been to the zoo this weekend and we were asked for a post code, though not to prove it.
I needed to show ID but that was to do with membership, I didn't see others doing this.

shouldistop · 11/04/2021 14:47

@Mistressinthetulips Edinburgh zoo?

We've been to Blairdrummond safari park and heads of Ayr this month and our address / ID wasn't checked for either.

LizzieMacQueen · 11/04/2021 15:15

Sounds a sensible move @runningpink - good luck.

My mum is in a care home 2 hours from me so visits are out until 26 April. I don't think I'd break the rules when the change is only days away. Plus the home are being super strict so would possibly turn me away - I also need a loo stop so need cafes etc open.

Otherwise Sunday's highlight is putting the bins out and watching Line of Duty. But I can cope with that low level of excitement as yesterday I had sister + niece + chocolate cake in the garden, under veranda & with the firepit on.

mibbelucieachwell · 11/04/2021 15:31

It's great to hear of extra curricular stuff starting up again. I'm looking forward to resuming instrumental lessons in my home. With social distancing blah blah, but still it's a huge improvement on online.

Lol at using the recent death of a high profile figure as part of a reason to visit parents in a different council area. I didn't realise I had such a dark sense of humour.

My current railing is at wanting to go to Dobbies, but holding off because it's likely to be mobbed and the weather. Three times this afternoon I've been about to go and weed the path in the sunshine when out of a lovely blue sky hailstones have rocketed down. At this rate I'm going to be shaking my fist at the heavens. Grin

Hurrah for jabba getting jabbed. About time. Enjoy?

WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 16:46

Sounds like a plan @runningpink. Hope you had a good time last night.

Ah Sunday - lovely sunny morning, well til about 3. Come back lovely spring sunshine!

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 18:25

I met a friend to do what else but walk round Leith. Started bloody snowing whilst we queued up outside for our food. The massive excitement of the day was a park bench becoming free and being able to sit down to eat our lunch in the freezing cold, rather than stand up.
Roll on the 26th April. Now the question is should I book us a spot in Edinburgh or branch out and go for North Berwick for post lockdown easing lunch ? We did like Continis but unfortunately the owner sends weekly whinging emails about the impact of lockdown on their business and whilst I have every sympathy for the, it's somewhat put us off eating there.

titsintiers · 11/04/2021 18:50

Definitely north Berwick rookie, love it there. Totally get your beef with Contini, lockdown has been shite for everyone.

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 19:04

And now it's started snowing again and I'm in the hot tub

UnderHisAye · 11/04/2021 19:09

Oh I love being in a hot tub when it rains, hailstones sounds divine!

Haudyourwheesht · 11/04/2021 19:10

Oh God @rookiemere - doesn't that just sum up lockdown Scotland? AngryGrin

Lidlfix · 11/04/2021 19:11

I love being in the hot tub when it snows. I pretend I am in some Alpine resort not Central Scotland suburbia. And try not to think about your brazing walk to the house Shock

StillRailing · 11/04/2021 19:14

It's amazing how lockdown has changed my perceptions of many home and garden things: hot tubs never appealed but now I'm jealous. It's all very lockdown luxe!Grin

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 19:18

Ha ha @Lidlfix today has had a bit of an Alpine feel to it as friend and I usually go skiing together, so we tried to pretend we were enjoying our outdoor lunch on the terrace of a sunny ski bar, rather than sitting in the dreech within the vicinity of the local Leith drunks.

Unfortunately due to overdoing it at my online kettlebells session yesterday my legs were rather sore so we only managed the first half of the walk book trip through some very insalubrious streets whose main claim to fame was being Trainspotting related, so I can only imagine that the latter half must have been more lovely.

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 19:19

@StillRailing we have the inflatable one - my ex boss spotted it in Tesco a whole year ago today and snapped it up for me. Gawd I miss having that woman as my boss.

Scottishskifun · 11/04/2021 19:33

I so want a hot tub!!!!

Been looking into getting a proper one given we aren't going to get a holiday abroad anytime soon!

WouldBeGood · 11/04/2021 20:20

I live in fear of my neighbours getting a hot tub😂

OP posts:
rookiemere · 11/04/2021 21:45

The hot tub is fun, but I don't know how much use we would get out of it if it weren't for lockdown. I've got a months membership for David Lloyd and once that opens I'm really looking forward to the outdoor heated pool - mind you at the minute it seems like too much effort to drive there and back when it does open.
