Just in case railing remains required.

I think I've become institutionalised..... Watching the TV of the high street there is so many people it's made me feel slightly anxious just looking at it..... What have they done to me?!
The worst part of it all is that it's completely irrational I have the most protection at this point now thanks to positive covid then I've had in 12 months...

Arghhhhhh that's my big railing for the day the govt have affected my rational brain! 😂

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 15:06

@Scottishskifun oh no! 😂😂

@Scottishskifun I was reading postings over on the Covid boards over the weekend (I knowBlush) and they were discussing advice to the Gov by behavioural scientists on SAGE last year. Because they couldn't/wouldn't make people adhere to restrictions by force the suggestion was do it by fear. And the daily briefings with number of deaths and hospitalisations was suggested method! Well it worked very well at scaring the population and in Scotland they did it for a whole year. I thought they were keeping us updated on the pandemic but it would appear notConfused

Scottishskifun · 12/04/2021 16:08

@latissimusdorsi 😂 good to know that I've been brain washed by behavioural scientists rather than me just feeling bizarrely anxious!

Also slightly annoyed they have done this in the first place!

StillRailing · 12/04/2021 16:12

I expect that I am going to feel odd when I go back on public transport. It will all take a little bit of reajustment after the non stop messaging to stay off it and stay home.
This is where they find it's easier to scare people than reassure them. But presumably the experts know this.

It has broken my lifelong habit of going into town by train to do a mix of things. Unless the internet breaks I may never bother again.😅

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 16:16

I used to love taking a sneaky day off to get the bus into town, have a wander, treat myself to lunch and a beer, etc. Wonder if I'll do that again!

StillRailing · 12/04/2021 16:20

Yes that was my type of thing. Mooch around a big book shop. And pick up some things I'd been waiting to get while I was there. Have a look round the department stores for ideas for gifts. How very last century that seems!

UnderHisAye · 12/04/2021 16:21

Oh yeah, lunch in Waterstones and a read of a few books before I made my final choice. Those were the days.

ResilienceWanker · 12/04/2021 16:43

I did a Big Walk this afternoon to collect a part from a bike shop, and I thought I'd have a takeaway coffee and maybe a cake while there, and then walk back. However, I neglected to consider my bladder, and by the time I'd walked the 3 miles there I was feeling really twitchy that I didn't know where the nearest toilet was. So I cut my losses and got the bus some of the way home, without the coffee Sad I Failed at having a nice afternoon in the sunshine and I'm annoyed at myself for being middle aged and not being able to hold it all together.

rookiemere · 12/04/2021 17:11

@ResilienceWanker i hate that my walks and outings are so dictated by the availability of public conveniences. I almost cried with gratitude when the lady at the counter of the specialist ale shop in Leith ( where I got DH a beer he'd never seen before) let me use the toilet , and it was properly nice and everything not a horrible Edinburgh council one.

ResilienceWanker · 12/04/2021 17:22

Awwww, that was lovely of her! I don't like the idea of having to throw myself on shopowners mercy like that though. I just want to do things the Proper Way... go in for a surreptitious wee and buy something on the way out Grin Which is kind of scuppered by the barriers at the doors and bouncers taking your order.

Icannever · 12/04/2021 17:48

They are ten and eight (but about to turn 11 and 9) and we have membership to a local one but it was kind of all we did last summer for fun and we’ve been a couple of times recently. They still enjoy it as long as we go with their friends but they are outgrowing it a little. They probably enjoy climbing trees or playing capture the flag better just now. Anyway there’s nothing more adventurous locally for their ages.

Icannever · 12/04/2021 17:48

Sorry that should have said @StarryEyeSurprise 😊

Icannever · 12/04/2021 17:51

Lunch and a browse in Waterstones sounds so good. And I have the exact same toilet problem 😬

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 20:05

I think the toilet thing is exacerbated when you know you can’t go!

I've heard ' capture the flag' is v popular at the moment! I'm going to use it for outdoor PE once we're back.
runningpink · 12/04/2021 20:47

I’m a nightmare for the toilet and definitely worse knowing I can’t go anywhere.
I’m getting good at going behind a tree! Although bib shorts when out on a cycle make it so much harder!

WouldBeGood · 12/04/2021 20:51

@runningpink that reminds me of some middle ages male cyclists I passed by in France by the roadside 😱

Also, I rang my GP today and they were lovely and super efficient. Got a script for beta blockers and diazepam for my lockdown induced anxious moments and sleep problems. She was really understanding: think she may be in the same boat!

@StarryEyeSurprise we’ve been playing it for years 😊 but just before the holidays my oldest played it at school for pe and it was apparently the best school day ever

rookiemere · 13/04/2021 07:00

@WouldBeGood I hope the prescriptions help Daffodil.

titsintiers · 13/04/2021 08:15

Hope you managed a restful night @WouldBeGood.

Only four more days of the do nothing holiday to contend with.

dancemom · 13/04/2021 10:52

Update at 12 today

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 13/04/2021 10:57

I swear if it's something shite like meeting 6 people outside I will lose my mind.

I need the gym I need to attempt to sort myself out and process the year. Phoned the doc because of how I have been feeling thinking maybe need medication and he basically said you have been isolated for a year (just the nature of my circumstances at the minute) what your feeling is just your bodies reaction to it. Felt good to hear that but I need a purpose again.

Sorry that was just a big poor me rant

dancemom · 13/04/2021 11:02

Rant away @IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021

titsintiers · 13/04/2021 11:10

Absolutely, get it off your chest. This Easter break has been absolutely shite for everyone hasn't it.
