For all of us on Scotsnet who need to lose the lockdown weight!

I am going to restart slimming world tomorrow.

Got my food diary that I haven't used yet

So we can inspire each other regardless of which diet we are doing.

This is a more useful thread than my daily politics waffle - good idea.

kurtrussellsbeard · 21/02/2021 19:48

I'm in. If anyone knows anything about intermittent fasting I'd be very very keen to learn. I think that might be what I need.

jabbathebutt · 21/02/2021 19:51

no politics please. lets all be pals.

I'm going to try and get back into my online exercise classes as well and get some walking done with the poor dog. Not taking her out enough.

Hello! I’m in

@kurtrussellsbeard there’s lots of theories about the metabolic benefits of 16:8 and stuff, but when I was going to training she says it’s really all just about fewer calories and a shorter eating window helps that. Calorie deficit is the thing.

I’m going to try it, primarily to tackle extra wine calories of an evening.

WouldBeGood · 21/02/2021 19:52

@jabbathebutt yes! The dog walks.. I must get on that. It’s really boring but I do feel better when I’ve taken them.

shouldistop · 21/02/2021 19:53

I'm in, just wondering whether I should wait until 12 weeks pp to make sure my milk supply is fully established? (That will be Friday so not too long). Or am I making excuses? A few days of healthier eating before 12 weeks isn't going to suddenly diminish my supply really is it.

I think it works. I struggle to have black tea or coffee though, so it's always a half baked attempt from me.
anon444877 · 21/02/2021 19:54

Pretty much all fasting is calorie deficit - definitely. Intermittent is a more savage 5:2 where you aim for fasting (600 kcal) 3 or 4 days a week - I did mosley's 21 day diet after last lockdown and it's fast but so hard having a cuppa soup as you serve up dinner.

littlbrowndog · 21/02/2021 19:54

jabbathebutt · 21/02/2021 19:57

I don't think I could do 16/8 tbh. I couldn't do without one of my meals plus by the time DH gets in at night, its like 6.30 or 7 before we eat.

I do slimming world and lost nearly 5 stone but have put nearly 2 stone back on in lockdown and gone back up a size.

Got lovely dresses etc that no longer fit. so need to get it off for summer.

Tomorrow, I will have brown bread toast, lentil soup, maybe a stir fry for tea. Might walk dog at lunchtime if its dry.

Have you seen his new book? Recommends 800 calories now. There are some nice recipes, I'd be happy to share if anyone would like to see them.
Graffitiqueen · 21/02/2021 19:58

I'm in. Starting an 800 cal a day diet tomorrow. I've piled on the weight in lockdown and need some drastic action.

applesandpears33 · 21/02/2021 19:58

I need to join in. I'm too fat for most of the clothes in my wardrobe. I started trying to lose weight when the kids went back to (online) school and have lost five pounds so far. It isn't great progress, but for me it is completely sustainable. I worry about yoyo dieting so would rather have slower weight loss that I know I can keep up.

shouldistop · 21/02/2021 20:00

@kurtrussellsbeard I have done intermittent fasting before. I skipped breakfast so only ate between 12pm & 7pm roughly. The first couple of days were so tough with headaches etc. but it quickly became much easier and I actually felt full of energy by the end of the week.
Make sure you drink plenty of water and break your fast with a well balanced meal. I used to have things like ham & cream cheese wrap, chicken breast & hummus wrap, boiled eggs, oatcakes, cheese, carrot sticks, fruit & nuts etc. Then whatever DH was making for dinner at 5.30 and if I was having a treat it would have to be before 7pm which often meant I didn't as I was putting ds to bed.

littlbrowndog · 21/02/2021 20:00

Am doing Mosley. So fast

kurtrussellsbeard · 21/02/2021 20:01

Sounds good. I'm so busy at work I'm hoping that helps. So eat a range of healthy foods between say 12 and 7 and just water the rest of the time?

HoneyBeeGood · 21/02/2021 20:03

I'm in, I need to lose 1 and a half stone, can't do fasting as it affects the medication I'm on so I'm just going to try calorie counting and exercise. Does anyone else use My Fitness Pal?

shouldistop · 21/02/2021 20:03

@kurtrussellsbeard yes, that's the idea. I tried to stick to set meals rather than graze during that time though (mainly because grazing wouldn't have worked with my job anyway). I did however cheat and have a small amount of milk in my 2 cups of morning tea, I really couldn't do without.

kurtrussellsbeard · 21/02/2021 20:03

@shouldistop are you exclusively breastfeeding? I would guess your milk supply would be pretty established if so. If you experience a dip then fenugreek tablets really worked for me. They stink though.

shouldistop · 21/02/2021 20:06

@kurtrussellsbeard the baby gets 1 bottle a day from dh as the doctor told us to put his gerd meds in a bottle of milk, it's usually expressed milk though rather than formula.
My supply probably is pretty robust tbf as long as I don't majorly restrict my calories I'm sure it would be fine.

WouldBeGood · 21/02/2021 20:07

@HoneyBeeGood I’ve used it before and it is good. I think I’ll use it alongside my attempt at 16:8

anon444877 · 21/02/2021 20:09

Cutting milk out of my morning coffee was too hard too. There's a new series of Michael Mosley coming on c4 I read.

jabbathebutt · 21/02/2021 20:17

no one else doing slimming world then Sad

admittedly, I tweak it a bit. I've never been a big fruit and veggie person but I try to do all the other elements.

I'm a bit of a pro when it comes to the syn values of chocolate in particular Grin found a way to eat as many chocolates and biscuits as possible and still be within my syns. Managed to lose nearly 5 stone and still eat choc every day!

In lockdown however, I just thought fuck it and ate everything.

So ass getting into gear tomorrow.

WouldBeGood · 21/02/2021 20:20

I was eating weird things I’d never normally eat, like pies 😂

I’ve been a bit better but need to focus.

littlbrowndog · 21/02/2021 20:29

Yeah pies Lidl brownies

Greggs sausage rolls
