For all of us on Scotsnet who need to lose the lockdown weight!

I am going to restart slimming world tomorrow.

Got my food diary that I haven't used yet

So we can inspire each other regardless of which diet we are doing.

Oh this is just what I need, I'm in too! I lost weight on 5:2 a few years ago now, it was so easy because I quit smoking at the same time and instead I obsessed about logging everything in my fitness pal every day, fast day or not. It took me over a year to lose a stone but my whole shape changed, I was delighted. I've put plenty back on again and am ready to start the fasting again.

I've tried to get back on it before but keep failing. This thread should keep me accountable though! Good luck to everyone. First fast tomorrow Grin

alpenguin · 23/02/2021 00:10

Can I join you?

I started last week using my Apple fitness+ free trial and my fitness pal.

Is anyone else using AF+?

titsbumfannythelot · 23/02/2021 06:16

Is Apple fitness worthwhile? It's my last day at a v stressful job today and hoping to start c25k tomorrow.

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 07:37

16000 steps grovee that's amazing. I managed about 1000! Feeling optimistic here. I've never seen apple fitness, will take a look.

I'm starting slowly by gradually cutting back on bad habits and reducing portion sizes, to build up.

Good luck with the fast Nyx I love 5/2 if you can get into it. It's great that you quit smoking - all my family are smokers, the single most important thing you can do for your health.

jabbathebutt · 23/02/2021 08:05

welcome newbies|!

today's plan - toast, tea, soup, stir fry, some matchmakers maybe for syns and if the rain clears up a wee walk at lunch.

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 08:57

Good inspiration jabba I haven't made a stir fry in ages.

DeepfriedPizza · 23/02/2021 09:06

I only managed 7000 steps yesterday. Will try to do better today but it's supposed to be raining hard all day. I am due to run today so need to get my butt out after work.

Porridge for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, curry for dinner

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 09:29

raining hard here, it's not shouting lunch time walk at me today, but I have to go to the supermarket anyway.

Disposableplates · 23/02/2021 09:31

Hi, can I please join?
I have managed to lose half a stone so far this year by roughly following 16:8 (still far too much chocolate!) and I did a sweat app challenge which helped me regain some fitness!
Started c25k again this morning, last summer I was managing 6km no bother then I got lazy! So I know I can do it!
Would love to lose at least two stone by June! Sick of feeling lazy and none of my nice summer dresses not fitting!

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2021 09:37

Soup lunch

Cottage pie cauli topping tea

NewSong · 23/02/2021 11:37

Hello can I join please!! I decided last night to try and cut back so this thread has come at the right time!
I very loosely did intermittent fasting a few years ago and lost half a stone, wasn't even that strict.
Was more like 15:9 or 14:10 fasting or eating around 1000 calories a day twice a week. So it works for me if I can stick to it! Just wasn't in the mindset for a while, think due to family stress and illness, working as a nurse through the pandemic, etc.

Fasted 14 and a half hours today until had a cup of tea. Toast and butter is my downfall!

For people thinking about intermittent fasting or whatever, maybe build it up slowly, start fasting for 12 hours for example and work on that. I used to take an Oxo cube dissolved in boiled water with some pepper which helped with headaches.

I've started running again so doing that, also on my feet all day at work. I find if I'm in the house during the day I don't do as many steps so try and at least do some marching on the spot or watch a YouTube walking video. Have also started again the 7 minute workout app which is good.

Sorry for the essay, good luck to you all!

Nyx · 23/02/2021 11:53

Oh Newsong, I do the oxo cube in hot water with pepper too! I've been known to add a drop of worcester sauce if I've been really bored with the basic 'beefy drink'.

Thanks anon, I agree, stopping smoking has been an absolute blessing.

Do you know, this thread is working already. If I hadn't joined this thread I would have failed my fast by now. I would have just started eating as normal, telling myself I'll fast on Thursday instead. But I've come on here to say - I've had one black coffee today and am about to have a rooibos tea. I'll have a stir fry for dinner I think - I have chicken and various veggies to use up. I love having a stir fry with just light soy sauce, salt, pepper and a tiny bit of chili & ginger flakes through it.

Good luck to everyone! The weather is really rough here today (Glasgow) so I won't be out much unless the rain stops. I have to get some sort of regular exercise going. I can't run because my calf muscle keeps hurting - think it was damaged before and running causes it to happen again, every time, no matter how long I've left it and think it's healed. This is a pita because I really wanted to get into couch to 5K! So I'm going to have to do something else. I've not even done yoga for weeks and weeks.

NewSong · 23/02/2021 12:29

@Nyx hi I hurt my calf too, saw a physio who did massage and gave some exercises to do. Standing on a step on one leg, raising heel up and down. Best to rest for a while and do low impact stuff, also leg strengthing exercises. I've also got a foam roller, got it in Aldi. Good luck, it's so annoying isn't it!

WouldBeGood · 23/02/2021 12:40

Managed to to eat til twelve again- that bit is easy!

It’s appalling weather here so don’t know if I can face the dog walk.. and my little dog cries and shakes when it’s wild outside 😂

WouldBeGood · 23/02/2021 12:42

This thread did help as I had to go out to work, excitingly, and was tempted by a McDonald’s breakfast 😳

blowinahoolie · 23/02/2021 13:53

Dog walk done immediately after dropping off two preschoolers at nursery this morning. Was bucketing down but glad to have got out. Tidied up two sideboards of clutter before lunch so that stopped any snacking.

So far so good

Love it shouldistop🤣🤣

blowinahoolie · 23/02/2021 13:56

Tried on the jeans last night - muffin top look. Got a bit to lose it seemsBlush

Thanks for this thread, it's making me accountable and know that I must keep going if others are also doing the same 🙌

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 14:13

I've got an all round muffin top on mine - love handles, muffin, and what's the name for the back bulge? I'm not sure I want to know :) that's what happens of spending 6 months in unstructured dresses.

It's helping me. I've had one chocolate biscuit but otherwise I've been fairly good. Bought stir-fry for dinner.

applesandpears33 · 23/02/2021 16:38

Failed. Stressed about work and school stuff and two packets of crisps and a cereal bar just evaporated before i really knew what had happened.

DeepfriedPizza · 23/02/2021 16:53

Failed today too. Stressed about lockdown so getting a chippy. We were supposed to get one on Sunday but didn’t.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/02/2021 17:00

Don't let it get you down too much, it is a marathon not a sprint. One crap day does not = failed, you can get back on track.
