For all of us on Scotsnet who need to lose the lockdown weight!

I am going to restart slimming world tomorrow.

Got my food diary that I haven't used yet

So we can inspire each other regardless of which diet we are doing.

Fasted over 14 hours yesterday and Tuesday, was working last night so having a night off! Will do some exercise tomorrow. Really noticed it with fasting again, had a bit of a headache as well as feeling hungry! Have been eating too much rubbish and put on weight so really need to get a bit stricter.

anon444877 · 25/02/2021 20:03

Well done on the fasting - not the best pair of days but going for it tomorrow.

FuckingHateRats · 25/02/2021 22:31

Hmm, mixed bag.

Today I've had:

two skinny lattes
A small baked potato with tuna/skinny mayo
A slice of seeded toast with Nutella
Steak, wedges and seared red peppers
Two mini Aldi choc bars (130 cals each)

So I'm probably over but I'm due my period tomorrow and I've also walked 15500 steps. I'm okay with this.

I had lost 0.5lb this morning, so 7.5lb in total since Xmas.

Groovee · 26/02/2021 07:45

Lost the plot thanks to Dh stressing me again 😭😭😭

jabbathebutt · 26/02/2021 17:31

been good today. toast, tea, 99 flake (2 syns), chicken for lunch, some matchmaker sticks (about 6 so 6 syns). might have some soup for tea.

How's your first week of the new job been, @jabbathebutt? I hope you're settling in ok.

I hope all is ok now Groovee. Don't stress about food when DH is stressing you, that's too much stress altogether!

jabbathebutt · 26/02/2021 18:31

Its been okay thank you. I think the job is too easy. I wanted something easy after a shitty previous employer to build my confidence but now I'm thinking maybe I should have looked for something a bit more challenging. Its only a temporary contract though so I can keep looking to see what else is out there.

Have lost 3 1/2 lbs since Monday and already feel a lot less sluggish. I find that fitting 3 meals into an eating window of 7/8 hours doesn’t leave a lot of room for snacking which is my downfall. Will be interested to see people’s experiences of intermittent fasting.

jabbathebutt · 27/02/2021 11:31

I wonder if you can combine 16/8 with SW? I might see if I could combine the two....can you drink though outwith that time? like tea maybe?

I've been terrible but definitely on it today. I genuinely disgust myself.

Well done to everyone and I'm loving the addition of inspo pics!

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 14:53

Oh I missed this :)

I've lost weight before with myfitnesspal logging and then moved to intermittent fasting. I have actually still lost a bit over lockdown even though I've not been sticking to it religiously.

It's my lack of movement that is a big issue too. You can't outrun your fork but my average is less than a thousand steps a day.

The benefits of the fasting aren't just calories deficit. I still manage 3 meals. 12, 5 and 8. So basically having breakfast at about 8pm. I'm finding lasting until 12 harder now I'm at home but it was fine when at work.

Other benefits of fasting are allowing your sugars to be more regulated and can help with pre diabetic issues as well as actual diabetes. It's also supposed to be better for your sleep etc too.

I'd recommend a combination of calories logging and intermittent fasting if that is manageable.

I'm on holiday this week, had a nandos last night so not bothering too much this week, but feel my jeans getting tighter again so want to stop it in it's tracks.

I'm tall and at my lightest adult weight (pre kids) I was 9 and half stone but that was very thin (BMI 19). At my heaviest (about 6 years ago) i was nearing 16 stone. In the last couple of years i got down to 11 and a half and that felt great (BMI 23). I'm back up over 13 stone so am aiming to get closer to the 11.5/12 and take me down a couple of jean sizes.

So I'm looking to join in from next Monday. Hoping you all are doing well Smile

jabbathebutt · 27/02/2021 15:01

Hi @WaxOnFeckOff welcome. I think I might try to do some intermittent fasting alongside SW and see how I get on. Do you need to do it every day for maximum effect? I'm not sure I could do it in an office environment but could maybe do better whilst WFH.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 15:03

My top tip is cheapo wee ice-lollies. Not many calories, mostly flavoured water but because they are solid it feels more like a treat.

Also omelettes, keep you full but low calorie and can chuck in a bit of ham and muchrooms or peppers etc with not too much to add on.

Nice meal suggestion is the hairy bikers Spanish tray bake - delicious and low calorie.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 15:07

The first couple of days are hard but you get used to not having breakfast (that's my preferred method) pretty quickly and I found it easier in the office as can't just keep checking out the fridge etc. I'd have a soup and a roll for lunch and then dinner at 5 ish and then maybe have some toast or cereal or something prior to 8pm. it's easy enough to adjust if you have a later evening meal etc so pretty flexible but I'd try to do it as a lifestyle rather than just every so often.

If you do want to do something just occasionally, you might be better with an occasional proper fast?

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 15:09

Meant to add that a friend who has suffered from various food allergies etc and had cut out milk and gluten and was feeling much better, then switched to intermittent fasting after I was doing it and having changed nothing else about her diet/routine, has lost gradually lost over 4 stone over 2 years. She is much better disciplined than me though :)

WouldBeGood · 27/02/2021 16:53

Mini milk ice lollies taste like a proper treat.

Miso soup sachets are also great for a really low calorie snack. I add chilli flakes and ginger sometimes too.

WouldBeGood · 27/02/2021 16:54

I am suggesting these, but have been rubbish this week as so stressed.

jabbathebutt · 27/02/2021 17:13

right I'll give it a go, might try 10 til 6 or 11 til 7. Not sure I can wait til 12. Will report back on how I get on. Will be doing SW alongside it.

I do it alongside WW jabba It is definitely doable. Concentrating on meals helps me cut out the snacking and grazing. I do it every day as it does become a habit. Amazingly you don’t wake up hungry and the first thing I think of is no longer food! 😄 I probably have 3 cups of tea with a splash of skimmed milk before I eat at lunchtime and one after I stop eating at 8pm.
WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 18:19

I know I would snack in the evening if I stopped earlier hence the 12 lunch (or near enough) Smile

FuckingHateRats · 27/02/2021 18:21

Probably done enough to maintain, not to lose.

Two skinny lattes.
Slice of Nutella/banana seeded toast
Handful of kettle chips
Homemade burger with skin on fries and corn on the cob

Walked 11k steps

jabbathebutt · 27/02/2021 18:28

that's good I can still have some tea, I think I might manage without lunch until about 10am maybe

I want to walk more too but think its unlikely, when WFH, to manage 10,000 steps a day.

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 18:34

I went for an illegal walk with 2 friends, did nearly 5k and it was still only 6k steps. that's about an hour walk, if that gives you an idea of how much 10k steps would be

FuckingHateRats · 27/02/2021 19:05

I am WFH at the moment (teacher) but I do a lunchtime walk and then walk for an hour or so when I put my laptop off. It helps me turn off and when I come back, I'm 'home' not 'WFH'. It usually takes me 90m-ish of walking to get me to 10k, but some of those happen naturally throughout the day.

jabbathebutt · 27/02/2021 19:54

right that's me telt. get more steps in. try intermittent fasting and SW and see how I get on. Move my ass.
