Speechless and disgusted. Is it thoughtlessness? Arrogance? Panic?

I actually don't think resignation would be good enough. She needs sacked and charged.

Few things have made me as angry as this lately.

I have coronavirus at the minute, and I am following the rules. It is depressing and I wish I wasn't stuck in but I'm doing the right thing, presumably because I'm not as important as her.

Crimples · 01/10/2020 18:56

Agree.
Completely undermines the message to the public and could be dangerously damaging to compliance.
Criminal and should be treated as such

sonicbook · 01/10/2020 18:57

I would have honestly hoped that post Dominic Cummings people in the public eye would have been more sensible.

dancerdog · 01/10/2020 19:04

I think the bold Margaret demanded Dominic Cummings' resignation.

dancerdog · 01/10/2020 19:07

As my local MP, she has ignored 3 emails I have sent her.(Straightforward, non-goady, reasonable question to ask my MP)

So, no impressed by her, but this beats everything!

IwishIwasyoda · 01/10/2020 19:10

Complete double standards. I also note Nicola Sturgeon has not been on TV berating her for breaking the rules many, many times over (unlike NS comments about various footballers in Aberdeen, house party organisers and students).

sonicbook · 01/10/2020 19:12

@IwishIwasyoda this story only broke on Twitter half an hour ago or so.
I hope she makes a strong statement at some point tonight or tomorrow.

OP posts:
IwishIwasyoda · 01/10/2020 19:14

And she has breached the rules more than twice, she didn't self isolate as soon as she got symptoms while awaiting results, she went into work with symptoms, she travelled on public transport with symptoms and then didn't self-isolate when result confirmed positive

PennyCrayon85 · 01/10/2020 19:16

🤦🏻‍♀️ I can’t even.

IwishIwasyoda · 01/10/2020 19:16

Story has been on national news and was in national (UK) press over an hour ago - and I'm sure NS has had the heads up before this

Chicchicchicchiclana · 01/10/2020 19:17

Hopefully she will receive the maximum fine possible and be sacked. What the fuck was she thinking?

dementedma · 01/10/2020 19:21

I look forward to the interrogation in the rose garden, Cummings style! She tested positive and then travelled to Scotland by TRAIN! FFS. Sturgeon better hang her out to dry

Callisto1 · 01/10/2020 19:24

Beyond words really...

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 01/10/2020 19:24

Only the best & the brightest in Westminster Hmm

sonicbook · 01/10/2020 19:24

Okay @IwishIwasyoda 🙄 ffs

Yes @dementedma she will really need to hang her out to dry. Of all the issues/ transgressions so far this is clearly the worst.

OP posts:
Mmsnet101 · 01/10/2020 19:27

If she's been that bloody stupid, it makes you wonder what the rest of the population are up to!

The article I read said that SNP were awaiting police outcome before taking next steps.

sonicbook · 01/10/2020 19:31

Yes would make sense. I'd expect she'll be fired but as with any employment there will be a process they need to follow.

OP posts:
RJnomore1 · 01/10/2020 19:31

Just read this, either arrogance or stupidity

RepeatSwan · 01/10/2020 19:34

She must not have been thinking clearly, as it would be bound to come out. It's a very shocking breach.

She'll have to face the music, I think the police would surely prosecute?

Chicchicchicchiclana · 01/10/2020 19:34

dementedma - I understand she travelled out of Scotland down to London by train whilst suffering from covid symptoms and waiting for the results of her test, went to work in the HOC, and then travelled back to Scotland by train. Why is the return journey more shocking than the rest of it?

BrazenlyDefying · 01/10/2020 19:36

Is it thoughtlessness? Arrogance? Panic?

No, it's fucking basic stupidity and thinking you're above the law. Idiot woman. And yes, she should be sacked. Just like Catherine whatshername who went to her holiday house. But she won't be.

TheMShip · 01/10/2020 19:39

She's had the whip suspended.

Ian Blackford:
I have spoken with @MargaretFerrier this evening who fully accepts that what she did was wrong. Margaret will be referring herself to the parliamentary standards commissioner as well as the police. I am tonight suspending the whip from Margaret.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 01/10/2020 19:41

I assume because she knew she was positive for the return journey
dementedma · 01/10/2020 19:45

As Gibbons said. She didnt know she was positive on the trip to London. She knew she was when she chose to make the journey back

Chicchicchicchiclana · 01/10/2020 19:47

She knew she had Covid symptoms on the way down to London too, so much so that she'd had a test. I just don't see that as any different in terms of rank stupidity, it certainly isn't in terms of merrily sharing the virus around her.
