Any appetite for a continuance or have I missed the new thread?
There was quite a heated squabble respectful exchange of views so I am sure there is more to be said......

This is pro independence too Grin

Nyx · 21/03/2017 08:49

Sorry, make that thousands of times each Hmm

QueenLaBeefah · 21/03/2017 08:56

Business for Scotland? Didn't that used to be run by Michelle Thomson? No creditably from the get go.

I think the biggest problem with the SNP is that they operate in an echo chamber. Dissent is not allowed with in the ranks which can give the impression of strength but if those in charge are leading then in the wrong direction (as now) it ultimately highlights immense weakness.

Still 2 days debating an independence referendum that they've already been told isn't happening when they could be discussing education, police Scotland, late farm payments, the named person fiasco, NHS waiting times instead.

Does anyone know the results of the biggest listening exercise in political history? The SNP have gone strangely quiet over this. Do they only listen when they hear what they want to hear? Certainly seems so.

Thegruffalowswife · 21/03/2017 08:57

That is exactly why unionists need to get behind ruth

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 21/03/2017 08:58

SNP politicians have signed a petition against an independence referendum thousands of times? Hmm

They each have thousands of different email addresses do they?

QueenLaBeefah · 21/03/2017 08:58

Are SNP politicians really signing a petition thousands of times?havent they got better things to do (like running the country)? Frankly, if they are it just shows them to be astonishingly immature.

Also, how do you know this?

Thegruffalowswife · 21/03/2017 09:00

Yes 2 DAYS!!! What an enormous waste.

Scotland's largest listening excercise vanished in to thin air when we did not tell them what they wanted to hear.

Thegruffalowswife · 21/03/2017 09:01

If they have the dear leader has told them to shut it.

Calyx72 · 21/03/2017 09:06

I was coming back on with my next link re: finance, the Scottish National Investment Bank and how it will save billions for the public purse but looking at these replies why bother? Bye guys Biscuit

Thegruffalowswife · 21/03/2017 09:06

Is that the petition where apparently SNP politicians have each signed hundreds of times

I would If I was an snp politician..NS is about to fuck up the chances of independence happening and the success of the snp tremendously.

Also they should be sacked and disciplined for interfering with the petitioning process of the westminster government.

Thegruffalowswife · 21/03/2017 09:11

Please post it calyx It sounds like you have information that might help us to convert to the yes side.

I will if it is good enough Grin

QueenLaBeefah · 21/03/2017 09:12

A big thank you to all those SNP politician who signed it thousands of times. Maybe they are seeing the light after all?😂

Nyx this '10 economic 'facts' link is 3 years out of date, which makes it worthless in economic terms. Tell me why you think we should get out of the UK at precisely the point where it's massively benefiting us?

BTW I was talking to an Edinburgh financial services recruiter for tech jobs yesterday and he said he'd had a lousy 6 months trying to place people. Scotland's economy's hardly booming under the SNP.

I prefer relying in the IFS's view that Scotland is currently enjoying better protection from economic shocks than anywhere else in the UK.

NoLotteryWinYet · 21/03/2017 09:26

Calyx why do we need a Scottish national investment bank when we've got a competent, ancient and respected bank of england backing us up? That's real macro-stability, they did a fantastic job calming the market after the brexit result. Why trust something new and untried and likely to suffer from a credibility gap?

unlucky83 · 21/03/2017 09:28

So...if SNP politicians are signing that petition thousands of times ...why are they not signing this one too - wouldn't that be time better spent? To show 'the will of the Scottish people' rather than the SNP Scottish parliament - surely that should be at more than 200,000 signatures too?

Omg Jim Sillars!!! Can't believe my eyes. But v v interesting.

Sorry, what was the big listening project?

Fontella · 21/03/2017 10:24

Food and drink exports in the many billions

The Food and Drink export story is a success for the whole of the UK not just Scotland. The SNP make mileage out of it as if it is a Scottish only triumph when in fact the entire UK has performed well.

Scotland makes up approximately 25% of the total UK food and drink export figure - which is fantastic of course but is largely down to Whisky and growing exports to China and India. There are detailed figures out there for anyone who wants to research it.

Scotland's excellent food and drink trade would benefit an independent Scotland and I put it there as part of a response to someone asking how could Scotland afford to be independent.

Fontella · 21/03/2017 10:40

Omg Jim Sillars!!! Can't believe my eyes. But v v interesting

There are quite a few interviews with Jim Sillars.

He loathes the EU with a passion, for reasons that I largely agree with. It's not the principle behind the creation of the EU but the insitution itself that is inherently flawed, and without major reform is itself in danger.

He considers leaving the UK to sign up the EU to be the ultimate in stupidity:

"So, the SNP seems to have had some sort of love affair with the EU and they are so entranced by it that they are incapable of looking at it and seeing it for what it is - an undemocratic organisation run by an unelected elite"

"That's something that's unacceptable to me, and about 400,000 others in the independent movement"

NoLotteryWinYet · 21/03/2017 10:40

can you explain Calyx how the food and drink trade would benefit an independent Scotland over and above how it's benefiting Scotland as part of the UK?

Thegruffalowswife · 21/03/2017 10:41

I could sell my knickers but it wouldn't pay the mortgage
