Is erotic incest literature considered PORN?

I would just like to hear as many views as i can about whether erotic literature of this type is considered porn. Its something i have discovered on my OH's phone. I don't know what to think as he says its nothing and just something he was reading cos he was bored and lonely.
But the page he had bookmarked was a story about Mother and Son incest. I felt abit sick really.

it is porn, of course

whether you would consider it appropriate is another matter

some sites recommended on here eg. Literotica (aimed at women) have a rather alarming amount of incest porn

I would feel a bit sick too, tbh

CoronaAndLime · 10/06/2010 20:07

I would consider it to be gross!

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 10/06/2010 20:09

I would consider making my husband my ex if he read any of this.

AhLaVache · 10/06/2010 20:09

Yes, porn. And vile.

Um, is he close to his mother?

Hassled · 10/06/2010 20:11

Gross, porn and yuck.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 10/06/2010 20:12

Well, of course it's porn. It also makes me get a bit sick in my mouth

AhLaVache · 10/06/2010 20:12

I went on Literotica after it was recommended on here...it was the very opposite of erotic. And literature for that matter.

IMoveTheStars · 10/06/2010 20:14

My sister used to call is slash-fic.

I have heard the term 'twincest' in relation to slash fiction written about the harry potter twins

[shudder]

zerominuszero · 10/06/2010 20:35

Well, yes, it's porn, but that's not the point. Some porn can be perfectly acceptable. The question is whether for you, this is a kind of porn that is unacceptable.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 10/06/2010 20:45

Erotic and incest (quite a contradiction in terms anyway) in the same sentence, and you're questionning whether or not it's porn?

PortiaNovmerriment · 10/06/2010 20:52

Ok, but how many people grew up on Flowers In The Attic?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 10/06/2010 20:55

I remember that Portia I was about 14 when I read it, and it left a very nasty taste in my mouth.

rosieposey · 10/06/2010 20:56

Portia, all of her books were a bit I read the first Phillipa Gregory (I loved The Other Boylen Girl) 'Wideacre' book and thought it was pretty gross - i had bought all three needless to say i didnt get to the 2nd or 3rd Yuk!

I would be very concerned about the dodginess of this porn if i were you OP.

Whippoorwhill · 10/06/2010 21:04

My MIL reads (and writes) erotic fan fiction, based on the TV show Supernatural, which involves the two brothers in an incestuous relationship with each other and sometimes their father.

I cannot watch that show at all any more.

I'd be pretty grossed out if it was my husband.

SolidGoldBrass · 10/06/2010 21:06

What, like Ian McEwan's The Cement Garden?

Given that what you are talking about is text rather than visual media ie something that required people to act out the concept, I don't see why this is any worse than (for instance) the average Val McDermid/Shaun Hutson/insert name of blood&guts&lingering&dismemberment author of your choice.

(Mind you anyone of a delicate or even actually quite robust disposition is advised to steer clear of Harry Potter slashfic as even I nearly shat my computer chair when I accidently found some while searching for something else...)

CaptainNancy · 10/06/2010 21:11

yes... the HP slashfic... that was an eyeopener! I was searching for something completely unrelated, but because of the '/' in the search something entirely unexpected came up... I only clicked because it was around the time deathly hallows came out... erk.

UnquietDad · 10/06/2010 21:12

Quite unusual for someone to come on here and say they have found porn on their DH/DP's computer/phone and it's TEXT! We're conditioned to think that it's women who prefer the "erotic" stories and men who prefer the "visual" stuff... ho hum... Black Lace novels, anyone?!

squirrel42 · 10/06/2010 21:16

"Slash" in my experience isn't usually referring to incest, it's a term for any type of same-sex relationship fanfiction.

Nemofish · 10/06/2010 21:17

SGB I had a real visual when you said 'shat my computer chair.' It nearly made me anally swallow my scatter cushions.

On a serious note my stepfather had some really dodgy books on the 'Lolita' type theme, 'nobody was as good in bed as daddy'
That tells you all you ever need know about my mothers taste in men, urk...

Tbh I found it hard to believe at the time that it was legal, but obviously, the 'fiction' thing sidesteps a whole load of ishoos.

Alouiseg · 10/06/2010 21:21

In defence of Literotica, topics are compartmentalised. You would be very unlucky to read about incest unless you specifically go to that section.

If you end up on there it wouldn't be by accident iyswim.

If you were sexually abused by a father as a child it can seem normal even if your head says it's as bit off.

AnyFucker · 10/06/2010 21:37

louise, the incest comes up when you search on "most read"

it don't take that much of an accident < ahem >
