Hey lou, you said hi once when I was new here. Now I'm here to offer advice about your toilet

If you have a trustworthy local plumber, fine. S/he will be able to deal with it.

However, if you want to see if you can clear it yourself, one easy / cheap thing to try is to grab a plunger, stick it down the bog, and pump up and down like mad. That may be enough to loosen the blockage. To check it is clear after you have done your pumping, try pouring several pan fulls of water down (easier to stop than a flush in full flow).

If you have several loos in the house and more than one is blocked, the blockage probably isn't in the u-bend, but further down the waste pipe and will need rodding (it's often where two pipes come together). You can buy rodding kits from DIY shops, else pay the plumber.

Hope that helps a teensy bit.

PS - I seem to remember you're supposed to be flying on the 8th. You may want to give the airline a call, explain things have gone ape / make up a terrific excuse and see if they can reschedule / refund your ticket. You stand a better chance of achieving this the earlier you speak to them.

I'm so sorry. It's good to read that there are some mnetters nearby. Wish I could do something to help. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to you and yours

Lou so sorry to read this and never thought it would be you. I agree with those who think your dh has had some sort of crisis.

Glad that you have some support from ks and the others local to you.

On the practical side - the loo - stick some caustic soda down it, it'll be fine. And I hope that doesn't sound flippant but you've got enough on your plate.

lou33 · 31/01/2005 15:22

am talking to him now

toilet is a recurrent problem and needs rodding, it's somewhere en route to the main pipe.

thanks all

I'm so relieved.
I have to confess I wondered whether he had flipped badly enough to have done something REALLY stupid.

Hope it goes well, Lou.

Just seen this Lou. So sorry and not a little stunned. Am glad that you are talking now though, and really, really hope you can sort things out. Thinking of you. xxx

cupcakes · 31/01/2005 16:17

Glad to hear that you've located him to talk.
I was wondering (like you said earlier) if this could be some kind of reaction to his mum's cancer. Does he feel like he chose you over her in the past and now feels guilty? He seems as if he is wanting to punish you for something.
Not that I know anything about the situation, just a guess.
Hope you can talk things through.
