His thinking:
she’s so controlling, won’t let me go out on my own when I want.
complains when I spend my money on my tattoos
insists I babysit when I should be out with my mates
I’ll show her. I’ll leave, have the kids half the time so I don’t have to pay her anything.
it’s dead easy, just give them a screen, get a Maccy D, drop them at school or wherever, sweet.
I can do gym, tattoos, seeing all the ladies I want.

then:
what? She’s out on a girls’ night? a likely story, she’s probably shagging around. And I’m stuck babysitting??? That’s not fair.
and she’s still asking for money, I should be able to spend my money on things I want.
bloody hell, Maccy D mounts up,
they never go to bed before 10pm,
I’ve got to sort out a costume for World Book Day, fuck that, put on some fake John Lennon/NHS glasses and he can go as Harry Potter.
why is my mum never around to help with the kids?

IT’S SO BLOODY UNFAIR.

Good, init? 😄

sherbetlemonade · 15/10/2026 23:47

I agree, I think he thought 50/50 would just be a bit of easy-peasy 'babysitting' from time to time, and he could rope his mum into doing it. Piece of cake, he thought. What could possibly go wrong?😂

PinkEasterbunny · 16/10/2026 06:44

As someone suggested earlier, I think he thought doing 50/50 would mean doing 50% of what he used to do (ie, not very much) rather than 50% of everything.

i would be amazed if his life has improved since the split.

Goaliestar · 16/10/2026 08:57

Silence is so powerful.....and so irritating to twats when they are on the end of it.
Well done.

Agreed, this 50/50 lark is not turning out as he'd expected. Should we take bets on how long before Twatoo comes crawling back telling you that you've made a huge mistake and been very controlling allowing him to go and have a miserable time of his own making, and that he will very kindly return to your joint home and let you control him more by taking complete charge of all the parenting again, whilst allowing him to lead the life of Riley with no parental responsibilities, @mummy917?

Tilluna · 16/10/2026 09:53

If his new single life were so exciting and fulfilling, he wouldn’t be so jealous of yours.
He’s tense and intense; in many ways he’s his own worst enemy.

All power to you @mummy917 - thank you for the new thread.

And I'll bet it's a Quorn cocktail sausage at that (no discernible useful meat)... 😉

I’ll need some extra-effective screen cleaner now after an unexpected coffee/screen interaction 😂Taking up bigboykitty’s inspiration and running with it!

hope you have a lovely
Weekend! X

PinkEasterbunny · 16/10/2026 12:08

When my first DH left me, he was convinced it would be one long sh&g-fest and party, party, party. It wasn't. It all fell apart with the OW, once she was no longer forbidden fruit, they both lost interest. And nearly all his mates were married with young families. They weren't available for pub nights each week.

He actually told me he'd started going round car boot sales on Sunday mornings "just to get out the house". Poor love.

mummy917 · 16/10/2026 16:34

Thanks everyone, I’ve only just managed to pull myself round from finishing nights this morning.

I am very much looking forward to having a day with my friends tomorrow 😊 I went straight to the hairdressers this morning when I finished work for a little pamper.

And yet, despite seeing all of that, at least a few of his mates will do the same thing, convinced it will be different for them!

The delusion is very strong with them.

SpidersAreShitheads · 17/10/2026 13:53

I know this is an unpopular view but I would have responded to his text. Not giving him any details but just a simple plan “I’ll have my phone with me but the signal might be patchy so in an emergency you can contact my mum” - or whatever you need to say.

The reason is that you’re giving him an excuse to not respond to legitimate questions that you ask.

In a good 50/50 co-parenting relationship (I know yours isn’t) it would be reasonable to let the other parent know you’ll be away but contactable/not contactable.

I absolutely wouldn’t have told him where you’re going or who with. And I realise that he’s not asking out of any practical consideration but because of jealousy (or control). The trouble is that I don’t think “will you be contactable and is there a plan for emergencies?” is an unreasonable question to ask.

For that reason I would have answered (by text only) but without any of the details he wanted because now he can throw this back in your face if at any point in the future you need him to give you answers.

Enjoy your night out and I really hope he doesn’t try any dickhead shenanigans.

Mix56 · 17/10/2026 17:15

I feel, silence is perfect, if OP was to be UN contactable, it is then she would need to inform ”Knacki balls”

AmandaHoldensLips · 17/10/2026 17:51

The only response here, when in person rather than point-scoring via text, is to remind him that the number to call in an emergency is 999.
