For anyone who is still offering messages of hope, wisdom and general loveliness 🥰

OP posts:

Ahhh….now I understand!!
I think it’s a given that ‘Ellie’ will get a call from him then …

ItsCloudyToday · 14/10/2026 11:10

Bottom line is he wants to know if you are out with another man.

Lizchapman · 14/10/2026 11:13

mummy917 · 14/10/2026 11:06

“Ellie” is aware 🤣 and has said she will answer after a few cocktails saying she isn’t out with me. Got to get a few laughs out of this somewhere along the way I suppose!

And if he does ring Ellie rather than you @mummy917 you’ll know immediately that there is nothing wrong with the kids he’s simply after information. In a genuine emergency why on earth would he not just ring you 🤷‍♀️

LeebLeefuhLurve · 14/10/2026 11:14

The audacity of twattoo is never ending. He chose to leave and wants to know if you're dating. Yep, you're the controlling one, despite showing zero interest in his personal life. I agree with PP that your kids probably get questioned a lot about what you're doing. At least Ellie can have some fun with him, and do expect an attempt at sabotage.

bigboykitty · 14/10/2026 11:15

I'd ask Ellie not to answer his call either. Make sure his number is saved in her phone. Mister you're-trying-to-control-me will be apoplectic. What a shame.

Purplebunnie · 14/10/2026 11:17

No reason for him to know what you are doing but I'm suspicious he may try and use this against you. I don't trust the little worm

If it is an emergency he can leave a message as to the nature of the emergency and then call his mum. Which he won’t.

bigboykitty · 14/10/2026 11:21

If it's an emergency, he should contact the children's mother. He's just trying to make a power play. He's dickswinging with a cocktail sausage.

TheThingOnTheIce · 14/10/2026 11:24

The fuck! 😂 surely if there’s an emergency he’d ring your mobile phone like he would if you were at home or anywhere else . Twat

GordanoServices · 14/10/2026 11:26

In fact I wonder if he dropped in the possibility that he might call Ellie as an attempt to make you nervous in case he does call her and catches you out not being with her. Perhaps a bit far fetched but...I'd just not respond at all. And Ellie shouldn't pick up either. You'll probably be in a restaurant in a basement with no reception - I expect.

Heylittlesongbird · 14/10/2026 11:29

If he rings Ellie she should simply ask him if he’s lost your mobile number and offer to reprovide it.

I love, love, love that he’s done this.

Freeyourmind · 14/10/2026 11:30

Just as I thought though, the tone is colloquial too, like you're friends who share life details! And it will be right up until you engage then it'll swiftly change.

Be ready for the "well you can afford to go out, so surely you can afford x, y, z for the children". He's not finished yet. At least he's predictable.

Enjoy your bottomless brunch!

Woodfiresareamazing2 · 14/10/2026 11:34

Hi @mummy917 , glad you've got a fun weekend planned.

I thought what he wrote was very interesting - he mentions "staying out" three times, and "staying away" once, in what is a quite brief paragraph.

He is clearly obsessed with where you're going and who with - you're not following the script he wrote in his head.
And he obviously hasn't yet realised that you no longer need to run your plans past him.
There we are then...

@bigboykitty , this is going to be my new favourite saying, love it!

formigas · 14/10/2026 11:40

He is absolutely going to ring Ellie.

The restraint you're showing in not replying to the breathtaking asshattery is commendable.

My answer to that would be “and you can afford tattoos so surely you can afford XYZ for the children”. He’s literally got no comeback here, not that that will stop him trying 🙄 He wanted free time, but didn’t want you to have any.

Ive absolutely choked on my sandwich laughing so hard at “dickswinging with a cocktail sausage”. I so needed a laugh today, not so much the choke, 😳🤣

But agree the ' no reply ' is a reply after all

He dreamed of Saturday nights enjoying the bachelor life, but his mates are at home with their wives and children, and he’s at home with his own children while you are out having a marvellous time.

Honestly, his leaving you will probably be the best thing he has ever done for you.

If there ever was another woman I suspect she is now long gone,

PetulaGordeno · 14/10/2026 12:43

Honestly if twattoo here is child free does OP ask oh I heard you are staying out if there is an emergency shall I rang your friend Nigel?
No.
I think he’s sold himself a lie about bachelor life.
I think it would be a brave/stupid woman to take on a man in his situation, and he’s realised it.
And he wants to blame OP.
He has shown his hand here, hasn’t he?
Ellie sounds great, by the way.

QueefofSheena · 14/10/2026 13:10

I understand keeping silent but I'd be inclined to ask where he got his information from. If he admits its from a child that's a whole other conversation.

And I think he’s beginning to realise he was a fool to leave you, OP. And the next penny is dropping that he can’t even get you back, so he’s stuck.

Hats off to you!

There’s nothing to use against her. She’s going out with her friends and staying overnight. OP cannot live her life paranoid about what her ex husband may do or not do. He wins if she does.

JonBonJ · 14/10/2026 13:54

Op's strength is in her silence. Every conversation or response ends up with him getting the upper hand.

Stay strong op. Do not rise to any bait. You don't know it yet (I suspect you are beginning to realise) but he has done you a massive favour.
