For anyone who is still offering messages of hope, wisdom and general loveliness 🥰

@mummy917

Have a lovely weekend away! Some much needed fun and change of scene

He is likely to try to ruin it somehow, so ensure you pack your grey rock and wear your varnish.

At least his message is in writing 👍🏻 it all adds to the picture.

There We Are Then.

My son overheard me talking to my friend on the phone about it, it’s the only time it’s been mentioned when he’s been around.

Handover this morning should be fun. I’m prepared for some snide remarks.

Oh, how annoying. Still, sometimes these things happen. Well done for generally keeping stoom.

You may well, over the weekend, gather more evidence of his character, so be it. Try not to let it ruin it for you.

At least handover is fairly quick - good luck!

Lostpassporthelp · 14/10/2026 06:51

If he says something just tell him it didn’t occur to you that he’d even be remotely interested in what your plans would be whilst he’s having his child contact time and leave it at that.

Givemeausernamepls · 14/10/2026 07:09

Please keep communications focused on the children. Literally the only conversation needed.

Shelby2010 · 14/10/2026 07:10

Probably too late if you’ve already dropped them off, but what about
’Not sure why it’s likely to be a problem this time, it never has been previously when I go away whilst you have the kids?’

Sussexserpents · 14/10/2026 07:20

Grey rock at handover. Pretend you are temporarily deaf!

I love this response

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 14/10/2026 07:29

I'd be tempted to reply "No, I didnt forget" and leave him stewing. What an arrogant toad he is.

mummy917 · 13/10/2026 22:01

”You forgot to mention you were staying out Saturday night. Are you staying somewhere local, incase I need to contact you about the kids? I have Ellie’s (not her real name) number still, if I can’t get hold of you and it’s urgent. I don’t understand why you didn’t tell me you were staying out, it seems out of character for you to stay out rather than just going home. All these bank shifts must be coming in handy!”

What an arsehole. Will sabotage be his next move? Grrrr

lessglittermoremud · 14/10/2026 08:01

mummy917 · 13/10/2026 21:46

My son must’ve let slip to him that I’m going out this weekend and that I’m staying out on Saturday night and I’ve had the 3rd degree via text (none of which I’ve responded to). Part of me wishes I was staying in some luxurious hotel with a hot, rich man, but I’m going for bottomless brunch and then staying in a travel lodge with my friends rather than getting Ubers an hour back home. I don’t feel like I need to justify it with any response. It’s none of his business anymore.

Hopefully his brain explodes coming up with all possible scenarios 😂

GordanoServices · 14/10/2026 08:05

Oh what a numpty, he’s just so desperate to know what you’re doing, he must realise how transparent that is. The double standard is breathtaking.

Subsets2026 · 14/10/2026 08:39

He wanted leave!
He ended the marriage!

What a narc.
Just cannot bear that he can now see that you will thrive after him.

Twat.

PetulaGordeno · 14/10/2026 08:45

Every time OP has a wobble and misses her marriage or thinks it’s her fault this gobshite reminds her of who he is.
I have no doubt he will try to put a spanner in the works.
The thing is if OP was arranging a hot assignation she clearly wouldn’t be talking to the man in earshot of the kids, would she?
She is supposed to sit at home alone, pining for this man, until the end of days.
Let’s not forget he’s palmed the kids off so many times and nobody knows where he’s been.
Would it not occur to him that OP has friends?
No because the red mist has descended.
Tell him nothing.
I would love her to reply…. ‘Where I’m going I don’t need to worry about paying for it with my bank shifts!’

lessglittermoremud · 14/10/2026 09:26

mummy917 · 13/10/2026 22:13

I’ve got no intention whatsoever to reply to him. The audacity of him is half funny and half infuriating, but not enough for me to want to respond to him.

I would have done a thumbs up 👍 to the msg and left it at that 😂

Spaniels4Eva · 14/10/2026 09:28

He must be absolutely fuming OP that you're outwardly coping well (even if you don't always feel it), and you're having a life outside of the DC. Instead of being at home crying and begging him to come back.

I wonder if who he left you for got cold feet over a man with 4 kids 50% of the time..... and he's now juggling work/kids without someone carrying 99.9% of the mental load of it. Poor chap Grin

tinyspiny · 14/10/2026 10:05

What a knob and he has the front to call you controlling .

MrsPapillon · 14/10/2026 10:32

I’m sorry TWAT, I didn’t realise that I was supposed to inform you of my whereabouts when I don’t have DCs. After all, you’ve never told me where you are when the DCs are with me”.

Hahaha this is hilarious. He's absolutely shitting himself isn't he. The absolute audacity of the comment about your bank shifts as well. Like, how dare you spend money on yourself? Not like him who only spends money on essential things for his children. You know, important things like tattoos... oh wait.

What an absolute melt he is. One thing I will say though, do you have any back up childcare for your night away? As I would put money on him fabricating some sort of 'emergency' now or just generally trying to mess up your plans.

He clearly didn't expect @mummy917 to be taking advantage of 50/50 custody, child-free week-ends, in the same way as he was expecting to himself!

mummy917 · 14/10/2026 10:46

All your responses gave me a good chuckle! I handed the kids over this morning and then promptly got back into the car before he had any chance to say anything. I have no doubt his poor mum will be the one expected to step in if he tries to sabotage things. I don’t think he’d have the audacity to ask my mum again as he knows what her response would be.

I’ve had a slow productive morning making some homemade soup to take into work tonight for me and my colleagues. Should get us through the next 2 cold nightshifts.

He’s already said it’s fine as he has ‘Ellie’s’ number so he won’t be calling OP will he now…

I am thinking there is chance he might just ring 'Ellie' so he can check that Mummy917 is really out with Ellie and not a new man. But then there is not much I wouldn't bet against with him.

@mummy917 make sure Ellie is briefed to say she hasn’t seen you - while you sit next to her stifling your giggles 😂😂

mummy917 · 14/10/2026 11:06

“Ellie” is aware 🤣 and has said she will answer after a few cocktails saying she isn’t out with me. Got to get a few laughs out of this somewhere along the way I suppose!
