Husband blocked me after he dumped me. What to do from here

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My husband left me out of the blue (we have 2 DD’s). He says he still loves me but he wants to forget me and move on. He has also said he wants to start dating but he doesn’t have anyone yet although he’s open to finding someone and remarrying and having more children. He then blocked me on WhatsApp so I can’t even call him about the children. I’m heartbroken I can’t stop crying. How can he say he loves me then block me and say he wants to move on. Surely if he loved me he wouldn’t be looking to be with anyone else? Also how can he block me when we have children. Please advise I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown. How can he be so cruel. How do men do this I don’t understand how can he think he can just dump his family like we’re nothing and go start again. I’m a young mum by the way and I have no support at all 😭

Why do you need to prove it? I’d be more worried about proving the financial facts and not letting him run off into the sunset with all your marital assets

This. It is a mistake to waste your energy on this.

Is it really worse if he cheated than if he just decided a life with his kids isn’t for him? The fact he no longer wants to father his own children is what makes him the biggest shit.

Thanks everyone. We’re currently renting and he has left me to pay the rent. We recently sold our house (it was a large amount) and I have now found out he has put the money from that in an account abroad. He had told me we would be repurchasing a house but that turned out to be a lie. I have a feeling he’s planning to move abroad and he has made it clear he won’t be helping at all financially. I do work and I have some savings and as he rudely said I’ll be fine because I can always go to my father if I need help according to him 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have only spoken to my mother about this at the moment as my father lives abroad and she is as shocked as I am. He’s 5 years older than I am but mature enough to know better

This isn't a recent thing.

This is premeditated.

There is someone else.

He is ripping you off and dumping his children.

Get angry. Go legal as soon as you can.

Do not be nice.

This is awful. If your dad will help, get him to pay for a solicitor. Make sure you tell your mum and dad all the facts about the money (sold the house, refusing to pay the rent or anything for the DC, making plans to get out of having to support the DC long term).

everyone keeps telling you to apply to CMS here’s the link - https://www.gov.uk/child-maintenance-service

Absolutely. The timing of the house sale is not a coincidence

Ok, not depressed then or having a breakdown, a selfish manipulative narcissist who has been planning this a while.

book a solicitor today op. Any assets in either of your names are joint and the base split is 50/50.

Firefly100 · 27/08/2026 08:37

Oh OP I get the human need to understand why but honestly the sooner you accept this and realise it doesn’t matter what he is doing with whom the better.
Let’s assume he still does ‘love’ you - would you honestly want him back after this? Even if it doesn’t work out for him with someone new he changes his mind. Could you trust him? Do you think that is the relationship you want to model for your young children? What is to stop him doing this again next time his head is turned? After all you have proven you will take him back after the worst behaviour.
You would honestly be better off accepting he is gone and focussing on the practicalities of what comes next. If his texts are not related to the children or financial support, ignore them - or block him back if they upset you.

Thank you 🙏🏻 No I will never go back to him or trust him. I just wanted clear answers for my own sanity. I gave up so much for him and married young against my family’s advice so it’s incredibly humiliating 😭

You don't need to prove he was cheating in order to get a divorce. All divorces now are no fault. The only reason you can give for divorcing is that the marriage has broken down irretrievably. You do not have to say why it has broken down or give any evidence to support that. Your husband cannot prevent you from divorcing him.

If you divorce him you will be entitled to a share of the assets of the marriage. The starting point is a 50/50 split but a range of factors are taken into account. Given that you have young children, you may well be entitled to more than 50%.

Whatever he thinks, he will have to pay child maintenance. Child maintenance will be harder to collect if he moves abroad, but it is possible, particularly if he moves to one of the countries that have a formal agreement with the UK to recognise and recover child maintenance. That covers most of Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, India and many other countries.

Financial abuse.
You need a solicitor, Women's aid and get advice about reporting this to the police.
This was absolutely planned.

You have no time to lose.

LastOnePlease · 27/08/2026 08:46

If your dad is wealthy, he will have connections. You need excellent, fast, high-quality legal advice urgently. Someone highly qualified will know the steps to take next. This man isn't your husband, he is a criminal and a con artist. You need to look at how you were manipulated here as why on earth would you sell your property, allow your husband to control where the money went and agree to move into rented? You now need to act to protect your children and your own interests. For now, the relationship is not important, legal advice is. You can grieve what you thought you had after you have done the above.

StartleBright · 27/08/2026 08:47

You don’t need to prove anything. Get a lawyer if you can afford one, start your divorce proceedings, register for child support, split your finances (joint account? Check he hasn’t already cleared it out), register with your bank for a pause on the mortgage if you need to (and can). Get as much physical support around you as you can, if you are helped to feel strong you can be there for your kids.
You don’t need to understand why he is doing this, you just have to see that he IS doing this, decide that it isn’t acceptable - and that you have to be strong.
His family are probably not going to help you (they may… but….dont count on it).

I am sorry this has happened to you.

Firefly100 · 27/08/2026 08:47

Just read about the house - get to a solicitor - today! Before he leaves the country will all your (and your children’s) money. This was premeditated. His intention is to cheat you and he is currently ahead of you.

Dorothyperky · 27/08/2026 08:47

OP you need a solicitor today. He's stolen your money. You need this reported to the police.
Do not communicate with him. Get advice today.
If he'd still in the UK you have a chance of getting that money.
Do not let him see the DC unsupervised.
Hide their passports.
He sounds jealous of your family money and now he's going to steal from you.

Thank you 🙏🏻 They’re 6 and 8. I called his sister yesterday and explained. She had promised to speak to him and get back to me but she didn’t. He has said he won’t be supporting the kids financially as he has to deal with himself and get a new place for himself. He has told me to ask my father for help if I need it as I’m an only child and my father is wealthy. Yesterday morning he sent me a text saying he loves me and wants to work it out and by afternoon this is what he does.

“has said he won’t be supporting the kids financially”

unfortunately for him he doesn’t get to make that decision as it’s his legal obligation. CMS will deduct from source if necessary.

Dolphinnoises · 27/08/2026 08:49

You need to speak to a solicitor immediately. You are hurting, they will be able to think more clearly than you. He will have been hiding assets for a while. If he has sent the money abroad he may be planning to go abroad too, so the sooner you move on this the better.

His sister will have been instructed not to call you back and will be in a very difficult position. She may well also have been lied to about the circumstances.

Sassylovesbooks · 27/08/2026 08:49

Forget about proving your husband is cheating or not, at this moment in time you have other priorities. Your top priority is to seek legal advice. If he's banked all the house proceeds into an account abroad, it means he's likely thinking of leaving the country or thinks he can stop you from getting your share. You also need to claim for child support.

Ignore the words your husband is spouting, they are mere words, that mean nothing. It's actions that count, not meaningless words. I suspect that your husband has another woman in the wings. Men rarely leave a relationship, without someone else being involved.

Your priority has to be securing your finances, children and housing. You can file for divorce, yourself too.

This. Please see a solicitor as soon as possible, to stop him stealing the money from your house sale. Please do this NOW. Your future self will thank you. As hard as itcwill be, please put your energies into this, rather than finding out if he is cheating.

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 08:49

Thanks everyone. I spoke to a family friend who’s a solicitor last night as he moved all his funds abroad. I believe he’s planning to move to Dubai possibly straight away. Apparently it’s very hard to get funds back once it’s been taken aboard, they will need forensic accountants etc and it could take years. If he’s in Dubai it is impossible to get anything back apparently and if he wont pay child maintenance if he’s abroad I don’t think there’s much I can do. I will go after him legally but I think it’s too late. I will be filing for divorce today. It’s all too much to process I’ve been incredibly naive I’m just so angry at myself 😭

Absolutely this.

Tell your father. Get a good solicitor and stop him spending half the assets asap.

As for the children, do your best not to bad mouth him but you can't be making stuff up to soften it either. It's very hard. What an absolute shit he is. I'm so sorry.

So sorry to hear OP. I'm afraid he's a terrible human being who doesn't deserve you or his kids. He will lose his relationship with them and I certainly hope he lives to bitterly regret it down the line. What a POS.

Dorothyperky · 27/08/2026 08:53

Is he British?
If so you need to report the money as stolen. If you have no access to it that is what he has done. Time is if the essence here.
If he's moved it abroad you'll have a hell of a job getting it back.
Fraud is possible between married couples don't let anyone tell you it isn't.

Dolphinnoises · 27/08/2026 08:53

Forensic accountants are expensive but not as expensive as being cleaned out and left with nothing. If he’s not yet abroad I wonder if he can be instructed by a U.K. court to move funds back? He won’t want a court order against him back here. Move fast.

FlorenceLawrence · 27/08/2026 08:53
