Husband blocked me after he dumped me. What to do from here

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 07:57

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My husband left me out of the blue (we have 2 DD’s). He says he still loves me but he wants to forget me and move on. He has also said he wants to start dating but he doesn’t have anyone yet although he’s open to finding someone and remarrying and having more children. He then blocked me on WhatsApp so I can’t even call him about the children. I’m heartbroken I can’t stop crying. How can he say he loves me then block me and say he wants to move on. Surely if he loved me he wouldn’t be looking to be with anyone else? Also how can he block me when we have children. Please advise I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown. How can he be so cruel. How do men do this I don’t understand how can he think he can just dump his family like we’re nothing and go start again. I’m a young mum by the way and I have no support at all 😭

oh Op I’m so sorry this is happening to you. It sounds incredibly tough.

you will get through this. Focus on eating well and drinking some water. Try to get some sleep and speak to family and friends to cheer you up and lean on.

How old are your kids?

FusionChefGeoff · 27/08/2026 08:02

Oh wow that sounds incredibly difficult.

How old are the kids?

Practically speaking you definitely need to have some way to communicate with him. Can you speak to a friend or relative of his to explain that you need to be able to talk to him about the kids? I know there are parenting apps that you can use if he doesn’t want to give you his number.

Are you ok financially?? You need to try to put the emotions aside for a moment and get copies of everything you can eg statements / payslips / pension details.

As for the ‘how could he do this’ question it’s far more difficult and unlikely you will ever get a satisfactory answer Im afraid. He’s likely been checked out for a while and 9/10 there is another woman so it won’t be long before he ‘meets’ someone I’m afraid.

Do you have friends and family who can support you?

Luckydog7 · 27/08/2026 08:02

I doubt he's telling you everything. There's likely something else going on, someone else would be most likely.

Ultimately it doesn't matter because he's treating you like shit.

You need to stop listening to what he is saying and start watching what he is doing. Words are just words, his actions tell you the truth.

You need to get selfish, get angry. Look after yourself and your children. Ensure your housing is stable. Work on your independence from him, assume he won't be there going forward. Claim child maintenance, seek support from friends and family.

Don't protect him from his shitty decisions. Tell people what he has done.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I know you’re gutted (other feelings will follow) but you need to stand tall and know that there isnt you can do- his shitty behaviour is all on him. You’ve asked how can he do this- he very, very, very likely has someone else, he checked out mentally months or even years ago but you were fulfilling a need so he spend his time ‘getting his fucking ducks in a row’. Cry it out but then find your anger and strength because it’s a long road to recovery ahead. You’ll also see a nasty side to him so you need to prepare yourself. Keep posting on here for support- I found MN a balm to the soul when something similar happened to me.

Thank you 🙏🏻 They’re 6 and 8. I called his sister yesterday and explained. She had promised to speak to him and get back to me but she didn’t. He has said he won’t be supporting the kids financially as he has to deal with himself and get a new place for himself. He has told me to ask my father for help if I need it as I’m an only child and my father is wealthy. Yesterday morning he sent me a text saying he loves me and wants to work it out and by afternoon this is what he does.

I’m sorry. It’s likely he has already met someone.
Get a claim in for maintenance asap and claim any benefits you are entitled to.
What’s your housing situation?

Whyherewego · 27/08/2026 08:14

He cannot dodge his financial obligations.

This is not a good man and he's treating you badly. I would start making plans for divorce. Ensure you have all the paperwork you can get hold of, including details of his persona bank accounts etc. If you can get these.
Go and see a solicitor and start the process of filing for divorce. He doesnt love you and he is showing this by his actions. I am sorry OP but the sooner you start moving on the better

WecanbeheroeslikeBowie · 27/08/2026 08:14

I would be taking legal advice and talkinig solicitors, he doesn't get to mess you and his kids around while he's shagging someone else sorting himself out and deciding if the grass is greener, What total scum bags some so called men really are.

Firefly100 · 27/08/2026 08:15

Make a claim through CMS. It is his responsibility to provide for his children, not your fathers.
Try to look at this from the positive angle (super hard) that at least in dropping his children like a stone, you are not going to have to share them with him. That would be a worry off my mind.
Get advice from a solicitor about your options for divorce.
This situation screams that he has left you for someone else. Im so sorry but it is what it is. When you are going through hell, keep going.

Ophy83 · 27/08/2026 08:16

He doesn't get to choose to not support his children! It isn't your dad's job. Though do tell your dad/mum what is going on as talking things through with people who have your back is so important.

You need to see a solicitor as working out your finances is also extremely important. Do you own the house or are you renting?

arethereanyleftatall · 27/08/2026 08:16

Focus on practical stuff. A claim in to child maintenance today.

he is either one of two things…

  1. a really nasty selfish man who has already found a new life he wants to move on to
  2. having some kind of breakdown
Velvian · 27/08/2026 08:16

I'm so sorry @Annabel20 . I think the only reasonable explanation is that he has met someone else.

He can't decide not to financially support his children. Get a maintenance claim done ASAP. What is the housing situation and is it in both names?

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 08:17

Does anyone know how I can find out if he’s with someone else so I can prove he was cheating? He has insisted he hasn’t yet but he wants to start meeting people. He would just go to work and come home there was literally no signs of anyone else, I even looked on his phone once and nothing. He is severely depressed though and he said he wants to do this so I don’t take him back

Velvian · 27/08/2026 08:18

Regarding his sister, I would guess that either he has told her some lie about you that makes you look like the guilty party, or she has got the truth out of him and she can't break it to you.

Whyherewego · 27/08/2026 08:19

Why do you need to prove he was cheating. It doesn't affect anything from a divorce perspective and it won't really help you.
Channel your energy into things that really matter for you longer term. Housing, finances and kids.

Girlwithavibe · 27/08/2026 08:19

I would contact your husband's parents and let them know what's happening!
Someone has turned his head for sure
The I don't want U I love U is because he is not sure what's happening he wants to be with someone else and he isn't probs sure what she wants so he is yo yoing back to u because your his safety net !
Pull your big girls pants on contact his parents then start divorce proceedings I shouldn't let him getaway with this also contact CMS he is their dad he has no choice he has to pay lol 😁
And finally big hugs u can get through this x

WalkCrescent · 27/08/2026 08:19

So sorry OP. Sending hugs.

Do you work? You said you have no support but he mentions a wealthy dad? Do you have anyone to talk to?

Chesatony · 27/08/2026 08:19

Does he have money, a pension? how are you housed? Does he have savings? The starting point at divorce is 50/50 and as you have the children you may get more.

Get any financial evidence that you can. Don’t agree to any financial separation that doesn’t befit you. Hey legal advice. See if you are entitled to benefits.

what a massive twat. You are going to be better off without him. Is he older (controlling exploitative?) or a young dad (immature) too? Either way distance will let you understand what happened and what your next relationship should be like.

sittingonabeach · 27/08/2026 08:20

Is he working?

You need to start CMS claim and then get legal advice

Clarinet1 · 27/08/2026 08:20

The cheek of .the man! He doesn’t get to
decide he won’t be supporting his children any more!
You may have to work hard with lawyers etc but you will get there in the end.

Sparkletastic · 27/08/2026 08:21

Whether or not he’s cheating isn’t top of the list right now. Do you have access to a joint bank account? Start telling people that you need support.

Savvysix1984 · 27/08/2026 08:21

I’m sorry this is happening to you.

I understand your need for answers but focusing on ‘proving’ he’s cheating isn’t really helpful. Makes no difference in terms of finances or divorce.

he has been very cruel and I really feel for you and your children.
like others have said out in a CMS claim firstly and get yourself organised. You can’t make him communicate with you or have contact with his children.

you will get through this.

Gall10 · 27/08/2026 08:23

He’s shagging someone else
See a solicitor ASAP
Dont diss him to the children…you’re the bigger person here
Pour yourself a wine/coffee/juice …you’re strong, you’ll get through this
Im sorry you’re in this situation…in the long run you may be better off without him.
