Husband blocked me after he dumped me. What to do from here

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My husband left me out of the blue (we have 2 DD’s). He says he still loves me but he wants to forget me and move on. He has also said he wants to start dating but he doesn’t have anyone yet although he’s open to finding someone and remarrying and having more children. He then blocked me on WhatsApp so I can’t even call him about the children. I’m heartbroken I can’t stop crying. How can he say he loves me then block me and say he wants to move on. Surely if he loved me he wouldn’t be looking to be with anyone else? Also how can he block me when we have children. Please advise I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown. How can he be so cruel. How do men do this I don’t understand how can he think he can just dump his family like we’re nothing and go start again. I’m a young mum by the way and I have no support at all 😭

He must be absolutely sociopathic to do this to you and his own children - he has £millions and yet still sells the house, dishonestly tricking you into moving into rented, thus meaning you have no housing security. Then takes all the money and puts it offshore.
He couldn't even leave you the house to live in, or at least half the proceeds, to house his own DC?!!
He's a multi-millionaire property developer, but can't pay CM??
I don't even have the vocabulary to describe men like this.

I've got the vocabulary for him!
The word begins with C and rhymes with Hunt!

ConfusedNoMore · 27/08/2026 09:03

Wow. So he's had an eye on the exit from the start then if he's had your house down as a company asset. He is some kind of flipping psycho to act as he has. Cold doesn't cover it.

You need specialist advice and fast.

I don't know about psycho, but he is a massive, manipulative, duplicitous arsehole. He must have been planning this for months, the utter shit.

How can he put his kids through this, ffs?

I'm enraged on your behalf, OP. I hope whatever job offer he's got lined up in Dubai or wherever he's going to hide falls through, and he has to come back with his tail between his legs.

Thank you 🙏🏻 They’re 6 and 8. I called his sister yesterday and explained. She had promised to speak to him and get back to me but she didn’t. He has said he won’t be supporting the kids financially as he has to deal with himself and get a new place for himself. He has told me to ask my father for help if I need it as I’m an only child and my father is wealthy. Yesterday morning he sent me a text saying he loves me and wants to work it out and by afternoon this is what he does.

So sorry Op! Sorry to break it to you, but he has someone else! If I were you, I will FORGET him. He is only capable of loving himself !

My friends husband did this. Moving all the money abroad. He fled with the other woman. They bought a business there. She never saw a penny or him ever again. He did contact his daughter when she was an adult.

I hope she told him to fuck off!

You don't need to prove that he is cheating, it makes no difference in a divorce now. He has proven that he is an absolute selfish shit! Keep your head up high and get your financials in order. Unfortunately, he cannot pass the buck of financial burden onto your father of his children. Don't let him call the shots, you've got this xxx

He's worse than a cheat, he's a fucking thief.

And he's a thief who has effectively stolen from his own children. I don't think he could stoop much lower, the utter worm.

Mulledjuice · 27/08/2026 17:39

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 08:17

Does anyone know how I can find out if he’s with someone else so I can prove he was cheating? He has insisted he hasn’t yet but he wants to start meeting people. He would just go to work and come home there was literally no signs of anyone else, I even looked on his phone once and nothing. He is severely depressed though and he said he wants to do this so I don’t take him back

What would this achieve? It won't make a different to the divorce settlement.

Sodthesystem · 27/08/2026 17:48

It’s odd the bar for so many women is cheating. On the top ten list of awful things a partner could do, cheating isn’t even top three.

You don’t owe him any kind of loyalty if he isn’t cheating. It doesn’t mean he cares about you if he isn’t cheating. It doesn’t mean he’s a safe person to take back if he isn’t cheating.

It really doesn’t matter who he is sticking it to. He stole from you and your children and abandoned you. That’s way worse than screwing someone else.

Sodthesystem · 27/08/2026 17:51

And lol, depressed? Is he shit.
How would a depressed person manage to plan out and execute this plan to abandon you with nothing so easily? That’s pretty productive for depression.

You do know abusers tell people they are depressed all the time. For various reasons. Like needing to be the centre of attention. Or simply to stop you calling them out on their awful behaviour.

He’s not depressed, he’s just a git.

He doesn't have a choice not to support the kids legally he has too get onto CMS ASAP or CSA whatever it's called now.
I know youre hurting terribly and upset, youre bound to be,we've all been hurt by men at some point, you need to be strong, for your children, get your affairs in order go and see a solicitor start divorce proceedings, do not under any terms take him back ,he's made his bed,he can lie in it xx hugs

Abhannmor · 27/08/2026 18:01

Blocking someone like this is so cowardly, selfish and irresponsible - especially the mother of your kids. As others have said you must see a solicitor first and foremost. Focus on practical things for now , grieve when you have time and space. 🌹

OpenScroller · 27/08/2026 18:12

I would get the divorce underway immediately OP and get an international forensic accountant to find all businesses/capital/assets he has moved abroad which will be taken into account for UK divorce settlement even if it can't be enforced now.

He may decide to come back to the UK at some point so it can be enforced then.

Not sure if there is a reciprocal agreement to freeze personal assets in Dubai but maybe knowing you are getting a forensic accountant and your Dad is helping you (hopefully) with engaging a shit hot international lawyer, may prompt him to come to an agreement in the knowledge if he ever does come back to the UK, he will have this hanging over him.

Use your anger productively.

Don't ever take him back. He's shown you exactly what he is and what he thinks of his own children who he's abandoned physically and financially.

Don't ever let the kids leave the country to visit him, if his conscience starts biting, either.

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 10:05

It wasn’t a romantic conversation. I was telling him he has no way back I’ll never forgive him & I’m filing divorce. He was saying that he wants to be free to move on and start a new life. It was basically a final argument/ phone call and then he blocked me. I hadn’t blocked him because I thought he would want to contact the kids but there’s no need for that now.

Sorry OP, my post was harsher than I intended. Probably because I am so flipping angry on your behalf, but that's no excuse, sorry. Hope you're okay.

Heretohelp1111 · 27/08/2026 18:44

I would love to believe he’s having a mental health crisis but my faith in men is just not there anymore. What a horrible human. I really hope you can find a lawyer and they have powers to act, to freeze his assets and recover what you’re owed. Thank god your children have such a resilient mother. They’ve very lucky to have you.

CarrieOakie · 27/08/2026 18:56

He has been planning this for a long time, the hope sale the moving the money - its all been prepared and suddenly you are finding out... which is fucking shit but you are also 3 pages behind

Sorry that this is happening but you need to catch up fast

the house rental - who has the name on the tenancy? both names for a change?

Blades2 · 27/08/2026 18:59

Seek legal advice re maintance and divorce asap.

Just keep going Op, that's all you have to do, nothing dramatic, just keep yourself and the children going. Eat whatever you all want, it won't harm.short term, stick to a basic routine, let the house be messy but make sure you get up everyday and keep buggering on. The pain will ease as you move through grief, and your feelings will change so you can start to regroup and move forward, honestly this WILL happen and you will get through..Sending hugd

Like hell he won't be supporting the kids, this is not how the law works, although I'm aware it's another thing actually getting the money from him. He's likely got someone else and can't face telling you so he's trying to erase you from his life, what a cowardly excuse for a man

Chilly80 · 27/08/2026 19:12

Stop being upset and get angry. He has abandoned his family. Get a solicitor. File for divorce. Put a claim in for child maintenance ASAP.

MMUmum · 27/08/2026 19:18

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 08:30

Thanks everyone. We’re currently renting and he has left me to pay the rent. We recently sold our house (it was a large amount) and I have now found out he has put the money from that in an account abroad. He had told me we would be repurchasing a house but that turned out to be a lie. I have a feeling he’s planning to move abroad and he has made it clear he won’t be helping at all financially. I do work and I have some savings and as he rudely said I’ll be fine because I can always go to my father if I need help according to him 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have only spoken to my mother about this at the moment as my father lives abroad and she is as shocked as I am. He’s 5 years older than I am but mature enough to know better

Get a solicitor quickly, you need to start the legals to get that account frozen so he can't get access to funds, and then get back what's yours. He's extremely naiive to think it's all so simple, selling the house and moving the money is part of his well thought out plan, he's in for a rude awakening.

Sounds like excellent advice.

Flailingaroundatlife · 27/08/2026 19:33

You are amazing. You're thinking so clearly even though it is all so fresh.

Just a thought I had, be careful how much you tell his family after that initial phone all
You don't want them reporting back to him (even if they are supportive of you and trying to help), it would give him a heads up on your plans and who knows what he could hide.

Best of luck to you, I hope you crush his little plans (/penis) to dust.

So he told you HE'S leaving, how HE feels, what HE wants, and how HE won't be paying maintenance, and then blocked you, what a prince! I'd suggest that last one is not up to him and I'd get onto the CSA straight away. Right now, you're devastated, and probably can't think straight, but its not your Dads responsibility to step up because their actual Dad doesn't feel like it and is dictating how he wants things to pan out for him. He sounds like a selfish arsehole, I'm so sorry this I happening to you and your daughters.

Annabel20 · 27/08/2026 08:03

Thank you so much. They’re 6 and 8

It's incredibly childish and selfish for him to block you when you have children together. Assuming he wants to see them, you will need to be amicable until they're at least 18, so he needs to get a grip and suck it up! Of course, you'd both need to agree not to text about anything other than the children, but that's easy enough.

And if he won't unblock you, he doesn't have access to the children. No way would I send my children off to someone who I couldn't contact in an emergency.

NeatPinkFinch · 27/08/2026 19:52

Go and see your GP. Get diazepam (for panic/anxiety) and antidepressants prescribed, These saved my life when my husband left me with a baby and a toddler.

BeGutsyGoldMoose · 27/08/2026 20:12

Firstly you need to get legal advice especially as the money from the sale of the house needs to be addressed quickly.
File a claim with the CMS. I assume you know where he works? I had to serve divorce papers to my ex at his work address. Once I had a home address for him I sent paperwork there to which his bit on the side had to sign for. Let everyone know that he has abandoned you and your children.
Good luck. I am sure you are a fighter.
