How to meet nice 40s to 50s women

GeorgeA12 · 26/04/2026 11:55

Been a single dad for 15 years, worked hard and juggled to keep everything together. Daughter is going off to uni this year.

Thought it would be nice to meet someone again as will have more time for a relationship now. Looking for something meaningful. I'm 51, fit, tall, in good shape, good job but where do you start? I've tried OLD but it's always a nightmare! Any advice appreciated!

Thread title updated by MNHQ on OP's request

they’re women, not ‘females’.

FeistyFrankie · 26/04/2026 11:58

I mean you could start by saying women instrad of females, seriously wtf?!

Anyway if your datinf profile comes across as sexist as your thread title, that probably explains why OLD was such a nightmare for you. And I doubt anyone on here will be able to help you much either.

Shrinkhole · 26/04/2026 11:58

The usual advice is to take up some hobbies and meet like minded people that way. Book club, walking/ running/ cycling group, whatever you are genuinely interested in.

ToadRage · 26/04/2026 12:00

Do you have any hobbies? Join a club/gym or take up a sport, for your age range i would probably suggest bowls or golf. Do you have many friends who could introduce you to something or someone?

Oleoreoleo · 26/04/2026 12:03

In what way has OLD been a nightmare?

GeorgeA12 · 26/04/2026 12:03

Well a woman posted a thread about where to meet nice 50 something males recently and there was no backlash about using the term 'male' so I thought this would be ok!

Well recently met a woman from OLD and unfortunately her pics where misrepresentative. Spent time and money to meet so was a dussapointment.

So sad he’s died. 😥

Ignore the posters who find any reason to have a dig just because you’re a man.
Hobbies is a good suggestion as you’re male (all my hobby groups are predominantly female) and I’d try OLD again.
If you’re in the South East / north London area, I’m a 50s single lady …

So you went on one date that didn’t work out? And you’re dismissing all of OLD as a ‘nightmare? Diddums.

GeorgeA12 · 26/04/2026 12:09

Here is the thread not one remark about the poster being sexist

Pedantic much? It’s common for people to say female, no underlying misogyny necessary, just what they’ve been raised to hear. You just look tedious.

I was just thinking the same thing. That expression really irritates me. Irrational maybe but there's something about it that has me grinding my teeth.

No I've been on a few. People are not genuine. The one before was a smoker when she said she wasn't as an example.

I was just looking for advice and not go be slatted.

Well, welcome to the world of OLD!

GeorgeA12 · 26/04/2026 12:24

Ok I can't edit the title. My apologies for the terminology. I was not trying to cause any offence, just followed another female posters title.

Why so mean? I am a woman and a female. There are so many posts where men and males are commonly used.
