I'm chatting to a man on line.

In a sea of sleaze and creeps , he has been Interesting , witty and comes across as clever.
We'll chat again later but in the meantime I'm trying to figure out what he does for work! Lightheartedly !

He is very cagey about his work but Has said, in context, that he is well used to 'nasty people' all the time in his work, he works at weekends, his bio says professional and has a masters degree. His bio also says that he's happy to share photos but not on the actual dating app, due to his job.

His job can be very busy , very quickly or very quiet.

He's recently moved from one major city to another for this job and is waiting for an apartment to be ready. The apartment is in a very expensive area of that city , in a city where there is a huge scarcity of any rented accomodation and he is staying in a hotel for the last few months.

His job also involves night work.
Any ideas?

Deliveroo rider?
It could explain the evening and weekend work, with sudden calls to deliver a KFC, a pint of milk or some emergency Wagon Wheels.
The hotel may be autocorrect for hostel.

Winner!

Thanks.
I'm not going to meet him until I know his surname and his job so I can do some research.
I've had something like this before except he was married.
Instead of his job, he was cagey with his surname so he got annoyed with me when I pushed saying he wanted to leave it as I didn't trust him...😂
Found him on a Facebook page for athletes ... dodged a serious bullet there plus he was obviously filtered out of his mind in the original photo he sent me as he was not what I had swiped on !!!

Sorry don’t know how to just quote the relevant part of your post. The part about saying he wanted to leave it as you didn’t trust him? MASSIVE RED FLAG.

VioletViolets · 01/04/2023 17:18

PS anyone with a genuinely covert job would have a cover story!

RosesAndHellebores · 01/04/2023 17:19

Probably married but could be ex military and now involved in chartering yachts, planes and/or helicopters for the very very rich. I know people who do that and they are cautious about giving away their whereabouts at any time because it gives clues to where their clients are.

TheMatriarchy · 01/04/2023 17:21

Criminal barrister, but my moneys on married.

2cubed · 01/04/2023 17:22

I don't believe it's a high end covert job.
In my profile I had said nearly the exact same thing because I work in child protection and family law and know loads of people on there .. mainly married/ attached men, so that's why I didn't reveal myself either in photos

I'm dying to know now ...
Undercover police are often redeployed due to threats and the nature of their work in border areas here so my money sticks with that.

Copper, or married. (Or both. IME, coppers are horrendous for shagging around!)

Zola1 · 01/04/2023 17:33

He's a detective in the Police i think

2cubed · 01/04/2023 17:34

I think so too @Zola1

He’s either a prison officer or security guard or he’s full of shit and is trying to sound like a mysterious high-roller.

Quite.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 01/04/2023 17:40

James Bond 007
MI6
Married
Full of shit

My friend went out with someone who claimed to be loaded, drive a Porsche, had several houses and was in the SAS

He went to his house and his 'camo gear' was laid out strategically on the bed, what he didn't know is that her brother was in the army and his 'kit' was fake, his Porsche was in the garage for repairs and his 'apartment' was a small 1 bed as he rented out his houses. His stories got more and more bizarre. He couldn't tell her what he was doing, would disappear (I presume to his wife) but would tell her he was on secret missions etc. so full of shit.

Magnoliainbloom · 01/04/2023 18:05

Definitely not in a high security job - they’d know well enough not to disclose this info.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 01/04/2023 18:17

A policeman
A bouncer
A married man 🤷‍♀️

winterbegone · 01/04/2023 18:27

A barman of no fixed abode

FordCreek · 01/04/2023 18:35

He’s either married or attached but is conveniently covering all bases in case “his job” has to quickly put him out of action for nights/days etc.

sounds like a lying POS, sorry.

applebee33 · 01/04/2023 18:54

Op you sound really naive, you haven't seen him , don't know his last name and are readily believing what he is telling you ? Like it didn't even enter your mind ? That is worrying , please mind yourself you sound gullible and these men prey on that

Rega26 · 01/04/2023 19:01

@2cubed a solicitor?

2cubed · 01/04/2023 19:04

Thanks for the concern but there really is no need! This is lighthearted.

I'm not stupid enough to meet a man whose name I dot know, whose job I don't know and who I haven't seen.
Ireland is so small... everyone knows everyone else and if he is untraceable , which is highly unlikely, I won't be going anywhere !!
I do promise to update though.
I wonder if he could be an EMT either ?

He's been working all day long, today , by how own account .

queensonia · 01/04/2023 19:09

Sounds like he could work in the film business

PonyPatter44 · 01/04/2023 19:11

Thing is, if he really was an undercover detective, he'd be a total imbecile to instantly go on a dating site, and then give a random woman a load of "hints" about his job. He'd have a completely plausible and boring story about relocating for work...

So I also think married!
