Hello All,

Such a sad story. I can't understand. Was the house door open and not locked then?

We need to teach our children TO TALK, ASK QUESTIONS and NEVER to attack or fight without any need for it.

It’s a terrible story. That poor woman

DustyLee123 · 29/03/2023 15:51

I wonder if she had a bit of memory loss or dementia, to end up in their house. Whatever, it’s terrible way to treat anyone. It would be obvious she wasn’t a burglar.

Londontoderby · 29/03/2023 16:06

So he came home and found a stranger in his bed. Surly the normal response is to tel them to get out and if they don’t call the police. An old woman isn’t going to attack anyone so it’s not like he was in danger. Sounds like he was just an absolute arsehole and had an opportunity to batter a woman and took it.

ddd20102010 · 29/03/2023 16:07

Awful human. She was an elderly lady asleep. Hardly a heavily built man with a weapon. I too think she possibly had undiagnosed dementia.

ChocSaltyBalls · 29/03/2023 16:10

I’m glad he’s been convicted, what a vile excuse for a human being. How could he do that?

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 29/03/2023 16:15

How sad!

billy1966 · 29/03/2023 16:17

Horrific story.

So glad he was convicted.

That poor woman and her family.

billy1966 · 29/03/2023 16:18

I wonder if other stories will emerge about him.

Such violence is hardly in isolation.

DustyLee123 · 29/03/2023 16:19

Let’s hope he doesn’t get into the wrong bed in prison 😉

RoseslnTheHospital · 29/03/2023 16:20

6ft 3 and 21 stone, he dragged her downstairs by her ankles and then stamped on her. I can hardly even bear to think about how she must have suffered.

The evidence from the pathologist was that her injuries were as bad as those from a serious car crash.

SallyWD · 29/03/2023 16:20

I think I'd heard she'd been drinking and that's why she was confused. Or was it dementia? Either way, his reaction was absolutely horrific. I don't understand it at all. If I'd been in that situation (even if it was a big bloke in my bed) I'd just ask them to leave and that's that. Poor woman.

Aaron95 · 29/03/2023 16:23

We don't know how she got into the house. Maybe she was drunk. Maybe she has dementia? Maybe there was some other reason. No matter the reason she didn't deserve to be attacked like that. It must have been very obvious she wa an old woman, not a threat.

I think this monster was beyond that. Awful, violent and completely disproportionate.

Dacadactyl · 29/03/2023 16:25

Yes what an awful story!

The only time I would ever have any sympathy for the aggressor in this situatuon, would be if the person who was mistakenly in the home, was a man of fighting age. I could understand that adrenalin might take over and act first, questions later might come into it.

However, the aggressor in this situation sounds like a piece of work even prior to this incident.

Suzi888 · 29/03/2023 16:25

I think I’d have called the police if I found someone in my bed.
His actions were totally disproportionate, he wasn’t scared of her clearly. All he had to do was wake her up and ask her to leave/call a taxi/escort her outside his house.

Despicable. He won’t get long I bet.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 29/03/2023 16:27

One of the articles said she had been out drinking, so it's possible that she was drunk, and if you're staying in an unfamiliar B&B, you could see how you might get it wrong after a few drinks. But whatever the reason was, he was monstrously out of line with his reaction, and the fact that he appears to be denying responsibility says as awful lot about him.

I hope his fiancee sees him for what he is and gets out.

BestBeforeDatex · 29/03/2023 16:31

I did read on one of the articles that he threw her suitcases out too, and was mocking her as she was trying to pick up her clothes :( its heartbreaking what she went through and he is absolutely disgusting.

Eightiesgirl · 29/03/2023 16:33

Many years ago, my elderly MIL (who was in the early stages of dementia but we didn't know it at the time) was staying at a B&B on holiday with FIL. She got out of bed in the night whilst FIL was asleep, wandered around the corridors then mistakenly went back into the wrong bedroom. She climbed into bed next to a stranger. The poor man must have had an awful shock at MIL suddenly climbing into his bed, but he realised she was a confused elderly lady and was kind enough to escort MIL downstairs and wake up the owner. She was then returned to the correct room. We actually laughed about this years later, but when I read the newspaper report of this monster murdering that poor lady, I realise how lucky MIL was that night and thank God that the stranger whose bed she got into was so understanding, he even made a joke about it with FIL and MIL the next morning to put them at their ease as they were so embarrassed.

vitahelp · 29/03/2023 16:36

Awful man, hopefully someone stamps on him in prison.
I'm still confused as to how she got into his house though, was the door left open? Who doesn't lock a door these days, surely she didn't smash windows and break in?

shearwater · 29/03/2023 16:38

This is the sort of crime where they should seriously consider whether the perpetrator should ever be released. There was no provocation or excuse for his totally disproportionate and gratuitous reaction. Anger issues, bloody hell, looks like he was on an absolute hair trigger looking for any excuse to batter someone.

RoseslnTheHospital · 29/03/2023 16:38

She didn't break in or smash anything. The door was not locked and she made a mistake. It should have been an embarrassing or even amusing anecdote, not a violent and lethal attack.

Clovacloud · 29/03/2023 16:41

I’m so pleased he’s been convicted, hopefully he’ll get life. If you find an old lady asleep in your house, you’d have concern for her, not drag her out of the house by her feet and stamp on her. He’s an utter psychopath.

loislovesstewie · 29/03/2023 16:41

Apparently all of the houses look the same, this one used to be a B&B and the door was open. The owner of the actual B&B said it was a very easy mistake to make.

I agree. I felt physically ill when I read this story and still do. I hope that he receives a very long sentence and doesn't know a moment's peace or happiness again in his life. This was a very deliberate act of savage cruelty. The furtherest thing possible from a mistake,
