How could the lady walk into his house that cost her life?

Hello All,

Such a sad story. I can't understand. Was the house door open and not locked then?

We need to teach our children TO TALK, ASK QUESTIONS and NEVER to attack or fight without any need for it.

Perhaps she's his victim too.

Yep @OnaBegonia if he’s capable of kicking an elderly lady to death, I’d say the chances of him being a violent partner are pretty high.

But whether he is or not, his girlfriend didn’t commit murder and was not on trial. So let’s not blame a woman for a man’s crime,

LuckyPeonies · 29/03/2023 21:09

Absolutely shocking. I don’t think he would have behaved differently if it had been a man in his bed, unless the man would have been large enough to fight back.

Oh I do.

How did she get in? I don’t understand how people leave their door unlocked at any time never mind 11pm

Because I assumed DH had locked it when he went out and DH assumed I would lock it behind him obviously we have never assumed since.

I think is disgraceful people are putting any responsibility on his girlfriend. My DH is a good 5 stone lighter than this guy and there’s no way I could physically stop him doing anything even if I tried, he is so much stronger than me. The only one in the wrong here is this murderous thug.

And that's without the likelihood that she's a battered woman

Awful human. She was an elderly lady asleep. Hardly a heavily built man with a weapon. I too think she possibly had undiagnosed dementia.

She wasn’t asleep. She was sat in his bed drinking gin and tonic. He asked her to leave and she became argumentative.

I’m obviously not excusing his behaviour, but at least read the news report.

Her behaviour was extremely strange. I expect there is more than meets the eye here.

Zuffe · 29/03/2023 21:17

Kerfuffler · 29/03/2023 21:03

He wasn't on holiday @Zuffe , it was where he lived.

Was being the operative word......

Someone else will be living in it now. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

TennisWithDeborah · 29/03/2023 21:17

His fellow prisoners will make his life …. interesting. He will have a truly awful time in there.

Hopefully his girlfriend will find happiness knowing that he’s caged and cannot harm her (if that is what he has been doing).

Wait and read the Court Sentencing Report before you give judgment. Always worth doing as they are eye-opening.

Fuckitydoodah · 29/03/2023 21:24

This is absolutely horrendous. That poor woman.

Whilst it would be a shock to find someone in your bed, it would of soon become obvious that she posed no threat, and had got mixed up.

What a vile piece of shit he is. I hope karma creeps up on him.

Ktime · 29/03/2023 21:25

Another forum saying his house had ‘residents only’ signs on the wall outside from when it used to be a hotel.

I read that she was explaining she was meant to be there as she had booked the room, I suspect from her view it was scary having a bloke come into your locked room (it said he had fallen asleep downstairs and then when they went to bed found the room to be locked so unlocked it and saw her there)- can see why he phoned the police of course which was the appropriate course of action; still doesn't excuse anything further. I agree there are bits that seem strange and some of the timings seem strange, but I'm sure those that needed this info for their decision had it.

LuluBlakey1 · 29/03/2023 21:34

He sounds a disgusting human being. Right decision was guilty- He deserves life in solitary confinement in a cold dark cell 24 hours a day.

Genevieva · 29/03/2023 21:34

He is clearly a vicious thug and a killer, but from the confusing article I read I was left wondering why he was accused of murder and not manslaughter. I am sure there is a reason, but on the face of it his aim was to use force to remove her from his house, not to kill her. And she wasn't a gentle old lady, she was an alcoholic who arrived on the train and went to the pub, rather than finding her hotel. I can only assume that when she arrived at his house thinking it was a hotel she was too drunk to wonder why there was no reception to check her booking and giver her a key. None of this excuses his behaviour, but it does beg the question of why murder rather than manslaughter. I wouldn't be vicious and I would probably call the police, but I would be pretty furious if I went to my bedroom and found a stranger sitting in my bed with a gin in hand, who then refused to leave.

Guavafish1 · 29/03/2023 21:34

What would have been the outcome if it was a old man?

If he’d dragged her out and she’d happened to die as a result, maybe it would have been manslaughter. But he stamped on her :(

Genevieva · 29/03/2023 21:36

Ah - that is the missing link. The article I read described her torn liver but didn't explain what caused it to tear.

Nice bit of victim blaming.

Why not wait for the sentencing remarks before spouting this crap?

Dymaxion · 29/03/2023 21:37

And that somehow gave him a 'get out of jail' free card to drag her down the stairs by the ankles and stamp on her, rupturing her liver and breaking her ribs ?
That's a pretty low bar, and maybe that's acceptable to you ?, but most people have a little more restraint, bit of shouting in frustration maybe and a call to the Heddlu ( who seem to love a bit of blue light action in that part of the world and to be fair its a great road in from Dog if they need back up ) but beating the absolute shit out of a 70yr old woman.... ? He hasn't got a murdering leg to stand on !

IsaiditwasLighthearted · 29/03/2023 21:38

I hadn't heard of this case but reading that second link with more context made me feel sick to my stomach. What an evil, evil bastard he is.
I'm so sorry for her and her family.

Wow. Hardly takes Sherlock fucking Holmes to work that out does it. You're sailing pretty damn close to victim blaming you know? Hmm

Genevieva · 29/03/2023 21:42

Livers do tear more easily if enlarged from ARLD. That could happen from him dragging her down the stairs. Manslaughter is also a serious crime that commands a long prison sentence you know.

Merlo · 29/03/2023 21:48

I honestly can’t read about this awful case, as it just upsets me too much. So utterly senseless. Poor, poor woman.

She had injuries consisitent with a 'high speed car crash' and he was mocking her as she lay dying. The people who have seen all of the evidence saw murder as the correct charge.

Why are you so determined to paint her as an alcoholic? What is wrong with you?
