How could the lady walk into his house that cost her life?

Hello All,

Such a sad story. I can't understand. Was the house door open and not locked then?

We need to teach our children TO TALK, ASK QUESTIONS and NEVER to attack or fight without any need for it.

Bless her, most other houses you'd get an initial shock then laugh it off. He is clearly unhinged and needs to be off the streets.

piedbeauty · 29/03/2023 16:44

This is horrific. His anger was completely out of all proportion to what had happened. There were a dozen other ways he could have handled the situation.

'Anger issues'? I'll say he has.

Hope he gets a massive sentence and is beaten up in prison every day. Bully.

I wonder if other stories will emerge about him.

Such violence is hardly in isolation.

From what I’ve read he does have a bad reputation as a bully and a thug. He also lied and tried to claim that the woman attacked his girlfriend. Im very glad to hear he was found guilty. Apparently the judge said he is facing a long sentence.

This is the sort of crime where they should seriously consider whether the perpetrator should ever be released. There was no provocation or excuse for his totally disproportionate and gratuitous reaction. Anger issues, bloody hell, looks like he was on an absolute hair trigger looking for any excuse to batter someone.

Yep.

LadyKenya · 29/03/2023 16:48

He displayed inexcusable behaviour towards that poor woman. He should be kept imprisoned indefinitely.

Awful human. She was an elderly lady asleep. Hardly a heavily built man with a weapon. I too think she possibly had undiagnosed dementia.

Numerous articles quote that she had been drinking and was a heavy drinker.

PrettyMaybug · 29/03/2023 16:55

He said 'I'm not a violent person' to the jury.

Errrr, yeah you are! Hmm

What a very sad story. As pps have said, if I saw a stranger in my house, particularly someone much older than me - 70/75+ I would ask them if they're OK!!! Not kick the life out of them!

R.I.P. Margaret Barnes. Sad

Confused Is there any need to mention this right now?

BreviloquentBastard · 29/03/2023 16:59

I wonder if he'd have reacted so appallingly if it was a big burly man in his bed who might have had a chance to fight back?

Poor woman, she must've been so scared and confused in her final moments. What a nightmare.

As a logical explanation other than dementia as to how she got confused about which house to go in?

The OP was wondering how she ended up in the wrong house.

LadyKenya · 29/03/2023 17:00

Regardless of whether she had a few drinks, or not. The fact is she was an elderly woman. She should have been asked if she was ok, and helped. No one would expect to come home and find a stranger in their bed, but the response this poor woman received was barbaric.

That ^^

I found an elderly woman in my house, she had dementia. I rang the police and made her a cup of tea, we watched Harry Potter. It was a slightly surreal night!

foxlover47 · 29/03/2023 17:04

The sheer cruelty of this man :(

AgathaMystery · 29/03/2023 17:04

I’m trying to think how I’d feel if I came home and a drunk, elderly woman was in my bedroom, surrounded by luggage, with her clothes scattered about, still drinking and with a lot cigarette (news reposts, not my own imaginings).

I would be absolutely livid. truly. Especially about the smoking. How foul.

And then, I’d ring the police. I’d pack up her stuff whilst I waited for them and I would be really angry.

It wouldn’t dawn on me to manhandle her. What was he thinking?!

Manichean · 29/03/2023 17:06

This violent man is just the sort of person who will manage to kill some poor innocent. This poor woman just happened to get in his way. I hope he goes down for life and serves life, disgusting bully.

LadyKenya · 29/03/2023 17:06

Right, and that is a kind, decent thing that you did@Rebel2

Absolutely nobody is saying she deserved what happened to her because she was drunk. The OP asked how she ended up in the wrong house. People explained that it was probably because she was drunk. What happened to her was shocking and barbaric and disgraceful. Nobody was victim blaming.

He already has.

TitterYeeNot · 29/03/2023 17:09

I hope his “fiancée” is no longer with him. How could she stay would a monster that would do that to an elderly lady - or anyone, really. He’s a danger to society and needs to be off the streets. He clearly shows no remorse.

FrostyFifi · 29/03/2023 17:10

Oh god that is absolutely horrible, it's really upset me. That poor woman. What sort of absolute psychopath treats an elderly woman like that? I hope he's never released from prison.

Heartbeat3 · 29/03/2023 17:11

Pure evil man

maranella · 29/03/2023 17:13

Agreed, he's an evil sod.

She was drunk after a night out with friends. Was staying in the BnB next door, but mistook his house for the BnB. She must've been pretty steaming to not realise she was in a different room from the one she'd checked into. But anyway, not an excuse to murder her. He should've called the police.

Let’s hope he doesn’t get into the wrong bed in prison 😉

@DustyLee123 if you mean what I think you mean that’s really not good. Rape isn’t funny.

His partner has had one lucky escape.
