How could the lady walk into his house that cost her life?

Hello All,

Such a sad story. I can't understand. Was the house door open and not locked then?

We need to teach our children TO TALK, ASK QUESTIONS and NEVER to attack or fight without any need for it.

Hope they throw the book at the absolutely vile pig

It really upset me this story and I'm usually as hard as they come

So he came home and found a stranger in his bed. Surly the normal response is to tel them to get out and if they don’t call the police. An old woman isn’t going to attack anyone so it’s not like he was in danger. Sounds like he was just an absolute arsehole and had an opportunity to batter a woman and took it.

I can’t help but think you are right.

Horrific.

ArcaneWireless · 29/03/2023 18:35

Numerous articles quote that she had been drinking and was a heavy drinker.

And yet the numerous people round here who have a bother with the drink have all avoided being kicked to death.

I8toys · 29/03/2023 18:37

Even if she was a heavy drinker she doesn't deserve to be dragged down the stairs and stamped on. Such a strange set of circumstances.

OnlyheretovoteonAIBU · 29/03/2023 18:41

Absolute scum (which is ironically what he apparently called the woman he beat to death…) plenty of men his own size or bigger to pick on in prison but bet he won’t be feeling so full of bravado then.

Even if she was a heavy drinker she doesn't deserve to be dragged down the stairs and stamped on. Such a strange set of circumstances.

Exactly. It's completely irrelevant whether she was intoxicated or not. I don't think anyone feels she deserved it, apart from the man himself perhaps.

Chowtime · 29/03/2023 18:58

I am so so glad that he was convicted of murder instead of manslaughter because thats exactly what he did. Murdered her.

I've seen a picture online of the street including that man's house and the B and B she was supposed to be staying at a few doors down and they do look very similar. I'm in my 50's and I can hand on heart say that I could have easily made that mistake, even without a drink.

Will he get life do you think?

Awful human. She was an elderly lady asleep. Hardly a heavily built man with a weapon. I too think she possibly had undiagnosed dementia.

She might have just had a bit too much to drink. I can't believe he did this to the poor woman. Yes, he would have had a shock, even got angry, but a big man like that didn't need to use force on her. She would have been shocked too as she would have thought they had broken into her bedroom. As his fiancé said why didn't he just escort her out?

Chowtime · 29/03/2023 19:04

And another thing - he lied and lied and said she tried to attack his fiance.

He didn't even show her any mercy when she was dying in the gutter outside his house 😥

His partner was present and clearly did fuck all to stop him, not entirely blameless.

That's what I was thinking...

What did the fiancée say in court? Did she defend him?

His lies were despicable. He tried to claim that he was scared of her and he was protecting his fiancée. She was heard to say “lying” as she was dying in the street.

Perhaps she's his victim too.

I'm not sure if his fiancee gave evidence.

I just remembered there's a difference between fiance and fiancee - people don't use that word much anymore but it is lovely.

Yes, he will get life, because that’s the mandatory sentence for murder in the UK. There’s no other option.

He will get the chance to apply for parole and early release, though.

SpookyBlackCat · 29/03/2023 19:23

Thanks! I tried googling what his fiancée said but I couldn’t find it.

I was genuinely shocked to hear he had a partner. His behavior was so horrific it shows what his character is. Anyway I won’t speculate on her character. It’s hard to know. He’s the one who did this and he’s the one who will get punished for it.

She was drunk. I live in this town. She had been out drinking and wondered into the wrong house

Ktime · 29/03/2023 19:24

The poor woman. I think I read the properties all look the same.

Stories like these make me want to move my mum in with me asap.

Read the thread title

Apricotjoy · 29/03/2023 19:28

That's she didn't have dementia. She had a few too many and walked into a house that is almost identical to the b&b she was staying in. He came home and savagely murdered her. He refused to call the ambulance and when one was called it took over an hour to arrive. She was dead by that time.

Hellocatshome · 29/03/2023 19:29

I had a similar situation in that a drunk lady possibly in her 60s came in to our house after 11pm at night and was half way up our stairs to where the children were sleeping before I had realised what had happened.

I was home alone and quite scared despite her being older than me because she was obviously drunk and not behaving rationally. I managed to get passed her on the stairs blocking her way to getting any further and asked her to leave. She wouldn't leave and was becoming quite aggressive (because she thought I was in her house).

BUT do you know what I didnt do? I didnt kill her. This man had multiple options available to him but he chose to kill her. I hope he isnt up for parole anytime soon.

Chowtime · 29/03/2023 19:30

I guess it's possible she had undiagnosed early stage dementia.

shearwater · 29/03/2023 19:30

I've read the title and the entire thread, thanks. I wondered if @Apricotjoy was trying to make a point or just repeating what has already been said a moment before.

Apricotjoy · 29/03/2023 19:33

Would you like me to repeat the point for a third time?
