How could the lady walk into his house that cost her life?

Hello All,

Such a sad story. I can't understand. Was the house door open and not locked then?

We need to teach our children TO TALK, ASK QUESTIONS and NEVER to attack or fight without any need for it.

Confused Is there any need to mention this right now?

Yes. It’s relevant to explain how the mix up element of the story happened. Widely reported. Amazed you can’t see that!

OnaBegonia · 29/03/2023 17:19

His partner was present and clearly did fuck all to stop him, not entirely blameless.

givemushypeasachance · 29/03/2023 17:21

I would be very freaked out to discover a stranger in my house, in my bed, whoever they were! But also not sure how she would have got in - either they were out and left the door unlocked, or were home and didn't notice a stranger coming into their house and going upstairs to bed, presumably not being quiet about it if she was drunk.

And no matter how freaked out I was, my reaction would be to panic and either run off back downstairs or outside and call the police. I wouldn't physically attack them.

tworedtomatoes · 29/03/2023 17:26

Can someone please explain why she had her suitcase with her?

It's not clear at all. She remonstrated with him. Hard to see what she could physically have done to prevent her big, thuggy, violent 6 foot partner from battering someone.

The photos in the DM make it slightly clearer how the lady managed to confuse the property (at the time being renovated) with a hotel. It wasn't your average bedroom.

tworedtomatoes · 29/03/2023 17:26

Can someone please explain why she had her suitcase with her?

Because she was booked into a hotel and had travelled down that afternoon.

Wheresthebeach · 29/03/2023 17:33

'Lock him up and throw away the key' springs to mind.

Nedmund · 29/03/2023 17:35

Am I right in thinking the partner was there but in police cam footage she quite clearly said to him that he needn't have done that?

It's possible she knew what he was like, perhaps she called the police herself?

Sapphire387 · 29/03/2023 17:37

I find the whole story quite confusing. She had a suitcase, hadn't checked in to her B&B yet but went into the house next door and into a random bedroom and got into bed because she was drunk? I'm not sure how that even happened.

Tbh, I would be pretty pissed off but then they probably should have locked their doors.

No excuse for beating her like that though - power dynamics in play here and he's a 6ft+ man attacking a vulnerable old woman. He's justified in being angry but nothing justifies his behaviour.

diddl · 29/03/2023 17:41

No excuse for beating her like that though

Well exactly.

It's hard to imagine how getting someone to leave your home-even if you physically remove them leads to their death!

I would have thought that her injuries will tell quite a tale.

RoseslnTheHospital · 29/03/2023 17:43

She just made a mistake, whilst being drunk. There's no big mystery. The house she went into used to be a hotel. It's a few doors down from the actual B&B she was booked into. She did nothing criminal or even wrong, it was just an error. It should have been cleared up easily with embarrassment or humour on either side.

Let’s hope he doesn’t get into the wrong bed in prison 😉

Agreed!

Heartless thug. What a terrible thing. That poor woman suffering and her family knowing she came to a brutal end.
If it were my Mum, or Gran I don't think I would ever come to terms with this.

From what I’ve read he does have a bad reputation as a bully and a thug. He also lied and tried to claim that the woman attacked his girlfriend. Im very glad to hear he was found guilty. Apparently the judge said he is facing a long sentence.

When people are in a strange place and are drinking, confusion can happen.

Years ago, pre marriage, I was in Paris with a few of the girls staying in a cheap hotel.

About 4am whilst we had only been asleep for a bit, the door hadn't been closed properly and two pissed young woman around our age noisily fell into our room.

We all got a fright, them included!

Their room was next door.

It can happen.

He could only be a thug.

I'm glad they didn't down grade it to manslaughter.

He absolutely murdered her in cold blood.

What a truly dreadful end for anyone.

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/03/2023 18:02

Brutal - totally gratuitous violence. He definitely murdered her, rather than killing her accidentally.

That poor woman - she made an innocent mistake and it cost her her life at the hands of this absolute bastard.

If her fiancee has any sense at all she will have washed her hands of him and will look on it as a lucky escape for her.

What a bastard.

Sassyfox · 29/03/2023 18:05

It’s more awful because there was two of them and she could have been escorted out or the police called after she was becoming aggressive.
There was no need to cause her such bad injuries.

I too have physically kicked a woman after she entered my home and attacked me and I kicked her out of the door in a fight or flight response as it was in the middle of the night and it was pure panic.
It turned out she was a drug addict and had MH issues which I didn’t think about at the time but I can see why someone who be more aggressive to a stranger in their home, however I was alone in my home and there was absolutely no need for him to resort to this when he was strong enough to move her out and there was 2 of them.

AliceMcK · 29/03/2023 18:12

I was reading about this last week, it’s totally disgusting, he is an absolute thug.

There are many reasons that poor woman could have got confused. My Dad once jumped into the wrong car once in the pouring rain, my Dad was shocked when he realised it wasn’t his workmate picking him up, but not as much as the poor woman in the drivers seat. I’ve knocked on the wrong door plenty of times trying to find the right address, these things could easily happen even without alcohol or dementia. But with dementia, we regularly had an old man turn up at our house thinking it was his daughters. We had to start locking our back door as he would just walk in, once I was resting on the sofa, baby in the bassinet and 6yo DD playing in the hall when she said mummy in a very strange way it made me look up to see this man standing in my hall. I didn’t freak out I could see he was clearly confused. After it had happened a few times I got as much info out of him as I could and started knocking on neighbours doors to see if they knew him or the naked he’d given me. I eventually found his DDs house and every time he turned up one of us would try and walk him down to her house.

The thought of a fully grown man beating an elderly lady makes me feel sick.

Numerous articles quote that she had been drinking and was a heavy drinker.

And the relevance to her senseless murder was...?

Even IF she was drunk, confused about a couple walking into "her" room and went for the fiance, the SIX FOOT TALL MAN DRAGGED HER DOWN THE STAIRS. Y HER ANKLES THEN KICKED /STAMPED ON HER AND LAUGHED AT HER AS SHE DIED. ffs.

This is what I would do also, I’d panic run outside and call the police. Beating someone to their death wouldn’t ever cross my mind.

This is just awful, she must have been so scared.

Or sufficiently beaten she was too scared to do much

So he came home and found a stranger in his bed. Surly the normal response is to tel them to get out and if they don’t call the police. An old woman isn’t going to attack anyone so it’s not like he was in danger. Sounds like he was just an absolute arsehole and had an opportunity to batter a woman and took it.

I agree. He knew he was never at risk from her

Sorry but this isn't about teaching kids to ask questions. Don't put this one back on "why didn't his Mom raise him properly!". He isn't a confused child, he's clearly a thug with a reputation for violence. This death has likely saved his fiancé's life. If she's any sense, she'll be taking a long look at her life choices right now.

Poor lady and her family too, to lose your wife, mother etc in such senseless violence.

Life should mean life.

Thesharkradar · 29/03/2023 18:20

he should be euthanized

Babyroobs · 29/03/2023 18:23

Disgusting man. WTF is wrong with people ?

Choconut · 29/03/2023 18:25

Awful, just awful. I hope he's put away for a long time.
