Would you date a man shorter than you?

Just that really - was having a discussion around a dinner party tonight and the issue seemed v. contentious, so I said I would post on here to gauge other opinions!

That was in reply to the post about single mothers

LaLuz7 · 06/01/2023 21:58

I wouldn't want to date a vegan or a single dad either. Where's my portion of outrage?

my standards are not shallow

Well, they are a bit. But that's OK. You're allowed.

I'm just struck by all the things covered by veganism!

So....hang on a minute.....vegan equals bisexual? Since when? And why would that be a thing?
I could possibly see vegan = lesbian as both dislike " meat " but why bi?😁😁

And yet here you are with us old, fatty mamas on a Friday night...

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 06/01/2023 22:08

I'm 5'1". I wouldn't have many to pick from. Mini Me? Danny de Vito? Peter Dinklage? I can't think of any guys I actually know who are shorter than me.

It makes sense to me that short women often care more. They are used to associating feeling short with feeling feminine/cared for etc

Feeling cared for? What on earth do you mean?

Not in my experience.

onyttig · 06/01/2023 22:13

I married one. He’s in denial about it. He thinks he’s 5’6 and taller than me. I’m 5’5 and he’s definitely shorter than me.

The height isn’t an issue. The chip he has on his shoulder about it… that’s irritating.

whumpthereitis · 06/01/2023 22:56

Nope. Also wouldn’t have dated a fat man or a single dad. I’m sure there are many lovely men that this applies to, but then I found there were also plenty of lovely men I was willing to date. I have zero issue with being considered shallow. Wanting to date a man that I found attractive as well as liked is neither a controversial nor shameful notion.

a romantic relationship isn’t an equal opportunity venture.

Definitely a higher percentage on OLD, if you were to believe them. So far, I've managed to stop myself blurting out, "that is definitely not 8 inches" when presented with the reality - but it's a good thing. I don't want my cervix bashed up. And length is irrelevant, if they don't know what they're doing with it.

What?! Do some put their imagined penis size on OLD?!

I knew height was given on it (and generally, like the DH's heights on MN, exaggerated) but penis size, really!!! That's got to be even an even more unbelievable stat 🤣

EBearhug · 07/01/2023 10:14

Some have it on their profiles. Others feel the need to mention it if you start chatting. Obviously they never mention being 5" and struggle to maintain an erection without Viagra.

(Actually, one guy did mention his micropenis when we started chatting. I said it's fine if he knew what he was doing. But no, he wanted to be humiliated for it, and wsnted to know what he could humiliate me about. I said I'd rather have a relationship based on respect. He wouldn't shut up about his tiny penis, even when I suggested going on about it constantly a little dull, so maybe he could talk about the weather or me or something interesting. But no. He got blocked.)

The majority probably don't mention the sixe of their penis at all, to be fair, but there are certainly some. (And the rest will still proudly send you a photo of it anyway.)

So height isn't a big deal, really.

CosmicGirlie · 07/01/2023 11:47

I’m 5ft 6ins. I won’t date anyone below 5ft 8ins or above 6ft 3ins.

CosmicGirlie · 07/01/2023 11:48

I dated a 5ft 8ins man who was very well endowed. The 6ft 3ins man was small! Height is no reflection on penis size 😁.

You are well within the realms of average. Do you think if you're 5'8 you're short suddenly? Your three inches above average. That is average. Many men are 6'.

Also you use 7 inches as if it's huge, that's also fairly standard😂

Anyway, your entitled to your preference but please remember being 6' is not an achievement

Your three inches above average. That is average

Completely off topic, but I had not realised the definition of average had been rewritten since I was as school.
I seem to remember average being the central or typical number in a given dataset,
so three inches above average would be above average, or is maths different these days?

huniepop · 07/01/2023 16:12

If the average weight is 8 stone and you're 8.5 stone are you overweight or average?

Average is a range.

Just out of interest, do you whip out an imperial tape measure and present them with a real life example of what 8 inches really looks like?

Errr, in maths Average is never a range..

a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data

I think I'd become asexual and take up drugs if I went out with someone so judgemental.

Nope. Not in the scientifical/mathematical sense. Average is a single value.
