Men in their 40s

whitebunnies · 29/04/2022 13:33

I am in my late 30s. I don't know why but men in their late 40s ask me out. This is in real life and not from dating sites. Why would they not date a woman their age? Some of these men have children so it's not like they want to start a family.

Most older men age far worse than older women simply because they don’t use skin care

that’s a fair comment . Those serums and factor 50 I get told to use by the magazines , well they were right !

Loveisallweneed · 01/05/2022 23:46

@greasyshoes

maybe you can also comment on the fact women do more hours of work than men when paid AND unpaid work is included , considering that women do the lions share of unpaid work even when in full time employment . Work is work , the way people provide their labour isn’t a measure of who works ‘ ‘harder ‘ . I know plenty of men who work in offices and plenty of women who work jobs where they are on their feet all day .
in many if not most situations the man sits on his ads when he gets home whilst the woman cooks cleans and looks after the kids
I guess as a single guy that’s hard for you to comment on

NRRK28 · 01/05/2022 23:54

I’m 33 and my husband is 44. Yes 11 years different. Age is a number. Love is love.

greasyshoes · 01/05/2022 23:57

it’s interesting g that a single guy ( which you r stated before ) comes on a mothers forum to claim that theirs no manual labour involved in womens lives .
continue trolling . All you are doing is showing your complete ignorance

My original comment was about how men's labour leads to sickness, ill-health, and premature ageing, which is why men appear older than women.

I'm still waiting for your research article which shows that childcare results in premature ageing or premature death in women.

greasyshoes · 01/05/2022 23:59

@pixie5121 Or the Peter Pans who had travelled the world and were now 'ready to settle down' at 42, looking for a younger woman to have kids with asap. So they got to travel and experience the world but I get a life of domestic drudgery and don't get to follow my own dreams, just listen to them regale me with tales of their trip to Cambodia. Yeah, no thanks.

Don't delude yourself; having a family and children doesn't make you more adult, or more grown-up, than anyone else. I know plenty of man-children and woman-children who have families.

arethereanyleftatall · 02/05/2022 00:00

Cos their age single women are too wise and generally loving life having been there and broken free. These women don't tolerate their nonsense and would prefer to be single. So the men have no choice.

Lol in some cases it clearly does and it shows

"Some cases" means nothing, because then there could be no statistical association. There are "some cases" of childless people who demonstrate much better character, stronger ethics, and stronger integrity than people with children.

I’ll send it ad soon as you send the research showing that mens labour is what leads to their sickness , I’ll health and early death

yoy ckearly don’t know dot about why men tend to get sick and die earlier . Try researching the edge ts of testosterone
also go look up the statistics on how men are far less likely to look after their health , visit doctors and look after their emotional health thus impacting their physical health
all mens responsibilities btw and NOTHING to do with labour
honestly , greasy yoy need to read and learn about things before you speak on things you clearly don’t understand

‘The fact that men have lower estrogen levels than women may be part of the reason. But medical risks, such as poorly treated high blood pressure or unfavorable cholesterol levels, may contribute as well. be larger than women. Across many species, larger animals tend to die younger than smaller ones.’

go look up the Harvard health study which clearly states the reason . Work STRESS is only one fact and women ALSO experience work stress but are far more likely to talk it out , create networks and seek help !!!!

Table 2: Why do men lag?
Biological factors
Sex chromosomes
Hormones
Reproductive anatomy (?)
Metabolism
Social factors
Work stress
Lack of social networks and supports
Behavioral factors
Risky behavior
Aggression and violence
Smoking
Alcohol and substance abuse
Diet
Lack of exercise
Lack of routine medical care

far far cry from your claim that men are doing all this hard labour and women are living longer because we all sit back and eat bon bons all day

several women I know work labour jobs . According to your silly theory they will die younger .according to Harvard they have the same protective factors most women have because of hormones , taking care of their health and having networks for mental health

Oh but all men do labour jobs whilst women all work in warm cozy offices huh lol
yoyre double standards are simply amazing

First article says nothing about women not experiencing the exact same thing
second article says nothing about a direct link between those workplace issues and why men die earlier than women
you made the claim that men are dying earlier and getting sicker ( actually false as women experience more Ill health despite men dying earlier ) and claimed it’s because men do hard labour and women don’t
you’ve provided nothing to link the two .
You’ve been directed to clear research by Harvard ad to why men die earlier yet somehow think you know better than harvard
theres no discussing facts with someone who creates his own
good luck greasy …

You have shown you don’t realise the importance of correlation with gich shows mr you don’t understand what your claiming
unless you can clearly show something that says men die earlier because they do labour and women don’t then you really have nothing
The fact is you won’t find one thing that says labour equals direct cause of mens earlier death because the factors are multiple and ad outlined by Harvard . Work stress was ONE factor and is not exclusive to men !

Organictangerine · 02/05/2022 00:37

It’s because they’ve put off settling down but now want a woman young enough to be fertile

despite me having never made any claim about womens labour leading to earlier death !

strange

he seems to have a problem with reading what people actually say so I’m not surprised he didn’t read what you wrote

They don’t care about you wanting a family. It’s all about them.

This, plus they think women have to.do the vast majority of kid stuff so they don't really worry about having a couple more.

Yup.

I'm younger than you but I have to say, there are a ton of late 40s men who used to contact me on dating sites.

It was that age specifically. Mid life crisis? Who knows!

The age lots of people start getting divorced.

Hrpuffnstuff1 · 02/05/2022 09:00

I've only ever dated 2 women older than me, all the others are and continue to be younger.
Maybe I have a young outlook and young features.
Current Dp is 12 yrs younger.
Just how it's happened.

Love the comparison between working in a nursery and manual labor for instance construction.😂😂😂
Running round after kids all day.😂😂

TimBoothseyes · 02/05/2022 09:08

Gowithme · 29/04/2022 13:54

Funny that you don't see any men in their late 40's with women in their late 50's though (for those saying a ten year age gap isn't much at that age) - it's all about wanting something young and pretty.

I'm mid fifties DP is late 40's...not quite 10 year gap but not far off it. I guess you're not looking in the right places if you don't see them.

anotherdisaster · 02/05/2022 09:18

Yep, I have found on dating apps that men my age (46) and older have their age ranges set much younger than I am. A lot of them seem to think they can bag a younger woman to make them look good. And then there is the darker side in that they do it because younger women 'may' be easier to manipulate.

anotherdisaster · 02/05/2022 09:23

To those saying 'age is just a number'. This is true but why are some men actively seeking out younger women then? if age is just a number then surely they would be happy to date women older too. Those are the men we are talking about here. Nothing wrong with age gaps at all if it happens naturally and you just happen to meet someone and fall for them. Actively seeking out much younger women is a red flag to me.

5128gap · 02/05/2022 09:25

Eight hours a day of manual labour does wonders to keep a man in good shape, toned and youthful in physique. Its the very thing some sedentary men try to emulate artificially in the gym. Where it goes wrong for some is in their failure to look after diet, moderate alcohol, not smoke. I think its widely accepted now that too much sitting around is linked to a lot of health problems.
