My AirPods are where I thought they were. My husband isn’t!!

I’ve been reading mumsnet for years but not made an account until now. I can’t talk to anyone in RL and really need some advice please
My DH is on a golfing trip with a work friend in Portugal. I though I would do some housework today and was looking for my AirPods. I couldn’t find them so mentioned to DS that I didn’t want to spend time looking in case I’d left them at work.
He suggested I look on find my iPhone as that would show them. I’ve never used it before but once I reset the Apple ID I got in and saw they were in the house. ( I searched the kitchen and found them behind the pot I drop my keys and stuff in. )
I noticed that this app showed my husbands phone so clicked on it just for a nose
He’s not in Portugal. He’s in Spain!!!!!
Why the fuck would he lie about what country he he’s in unless there is something seriously dodgy going on. I watched him go from a hotel to a
Restaurant, then along the seafront, then back to the same hotel. It can’t be wrong. I can’t sleep. Is he with another woman?
Wtf do I do?????

Can't add much that hasn't been said already.

I do however hope you still manage to have a nice Mother's Day despite all this 💐

BuddhaAtSea · 27/03/2022 16:02

I went to Portugal and flew into Faro, my location definitely showed Faro, not Spain.

CandyLeBonBon · 27/03/2022 16:02

@bare

I wouldn't be able to stop myself asking, tbh. 'Are you having a good time in Portugal?' 'Yes' 'Are you actually in Portugal?' 'Yes' 'Well why are your f**king Airpods in Spain?'

Silence
Phone down

The AirPods were in the Op's kitchen. It's dh that's in Spain!

Mate. It’s her AirPods.

She found the “find my” thing looking for hers. Saw he’d said golfing in Portugal (unexceptional) was actually in Spain.

LynetteScavo · 27/03/2022 16:02

I'd be contacting the wife of the person he's supposed to be with - I'd make up something like I can't remember what flight they were getting, and see what she says.

It must be a quiet day in Trumptown.

Is this a detective spoof?
Gotta be 😆

Teeheehee1579 · 27/03/2022 16:03

@duvetdayforeveryone

If my DH did this, I would immediately be changing the locks and packing up all his stuff. No chance in hell he'd ever be allowed in the house again.
Presumably once you’d found out what was actually going on rather than guessing - yes?
Silverclocks · 27/03/2022 16:04

Technically it's his phone that's in Spain Wink

thebubbleteajunkie43 · 27/03/2022 16:05

I'd be driving myself mad needing to know the answer to this!

To me I think the logical answer to anyone with two brain cells to rub together who isn't incredibly naive is he is either cheating OR doing something else he feels the need to hide from you. Neither are great outcomes here.

Everyone disputing find my iPhone is confusing the situation further, yes it has its quirks but if it is set up correctly and you can see someone moving around as he is it is most definitely 100% accurate. He has obviously forgotten or he could easily toggle it off. Probably should be thankful for DS pointing it out as otherwise you'd have been none the wiser and how much longer would it have carried on...

Good luck I hope you get some answers soon.

mmarket · 27/03/2022 16:06

Presumably you can see the name of the hotel in his find my iPhone, OP? If you, Google that hotel. See if it has a golf course. See what the pool looks like vs the pic of the beer & pool he sent you?

LynetteScavo · 27/03/2022 16:07

Presumably you can tell exactly which hotel he's in. So phone him and ask the name of the hotel, and then say "what, in Portugal?"

Bravissima · 27/03/2022 16:08

I’ve never known flight details in any case

FurStories · 27/03/2022 16:09

Shouldn’t MNHQ be moving this to AIBU?!
Or perhaps set up a new Forum heading section entitled something like “Random Nonsense”, “DramaCity” or simply “Bored and Too much Wine

shinynewapple22 · 27/03/2022 16:09

@NdefH81

The notion of genuinely trusting someone Fully

And then seeing a discrepancy between where they say they are and where location services says they are

And my response being to immediately start a thread on mumsnet rather than just ask. Someone I supposedly trust, have had no issues before, I love, share children and a home with

Baffling

Well, yes.

LynetteScavo · 27/03/2022 16:12

I'm wondering if he's been going to Spain for years, thinking it's actually Portugal. I thought Santorini was in Italy (disclaimer; I've never been there).

Felicity42 · 27/03/2022 16:14

Just ask him the name of the hotel in a really casual way.

😂
cooldarkroom · 27/03/2022 16:19

Surely OP will be able to track his phone going to Faro, (or any alternative airport.
The ideal would be to then look at whatever flights there are to Bristol & wait for him at Arrivals.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 27/03/2022 16:19

Cut the cloak and dagger crap and just ask him .
I don't see how torturing yourself is better than asking a question

Bravissima · 27/03/2022 16:20

I was in Torino for a good few hours before I realised.

Because you think he will give an honest answer if he is up to know good? Confused
HopeIsNotAStrategy · 27/03/2022 16:21

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow

There are some very gullible people on Mumsnet.
This with knobs on. I am astonished by some of the responses on this thread.
Sagared · 27/03/2022 16:23

@SophieSoSo

You should do exactly what a PP said.

Save the photo he sent you to your camera roll, then click the i in a circle at the bottom of the photo. It will give you the exact location of where that photo was taken from including a map.

This! I had forgotten you could do this
SunflowerTed · 27/03/2022 16:23

I’m sure there is a simple explanation
