My AirPods are where I thought they were. My husband isn’t!!

I’ve been reading mumsnet for years but not made an account until now. I can’t talk to anyone in RL and really need some advice please
My DH is on a golfing trip with a work friend in Portugal. I though I would do some housework today and was looking for my AirPods. I couldn’t find them so mentioned to DS that I didn’t want to spend time looking in case I’d left them at work.
He suggested I look on find my iPhone as that would show them. I’ve never used it before but once I reset the Apple ID I got in and saw they were in the house. ( I searched the kitchen and found them behind the pot I drop my keys and stuff in. )
I noticed that this app showed my husbands phone so clicked on it just for a nose
He’s not in Portugal. He’s in Spain!!!!!
Why the fuck would he lie about what country he he’s in unless there is something seriously dodgy going on. I watched him go from a hotel to a
Restaurant, then along the seafront, then back to the same hotel. It can’t be wrong. I can’t sleep. Is he with another woman?
Wtf do I do?????

I’m more worried now. I went from the friends Facebook page to the friends wife’s page. She has changed her profile photo today. It’s of her sitting in bed with her 2 little girls. She has a tray with breakfast and a Mother’s Day card on it. Im wondering who has taken a photo of them in bed if the husband is away??

What an awful thing to say. Her mother perhaps? Auto timer perhaps? You're getting a bit paranoid now.

Jesus. It's not an 'awful thing to say' at all. How weird. She's not insinuating this bloke's wife has a lover, is she? She's realizing the bloke her husband is supposed to be with, is at home with his family, taking pictures of them. Much more likely than a timer or a grandmother 🙄

HailAdrian · 27/03/2022 15:09

Omg just do what normal people do and ask him.

Seraphinesupport · 27/03/2022 15:10

oh man this is heartbreaking. Im so sorry OP :( I hope its all a mistake but you sound smart and it does sound very suspicious

TabithaTittlemouse · 27/03/2022 15:11

@Silverclocks

I'm not sure poster's are taking the gullibility comment the way it was intended Grin
I’m not sure anyone is reading anything properly tbh.
Seraphinesupport · 27/03/2022 15:12

@cannibalqueen i think you have taken what she was saying the wrong way...

It looks as if the woman may still be with her husband... taking photos on mothers day ( today ) and YET that same husband is supposed to be with OPs husband.. in portugal meaning if the woman is with her husband then OPs husband cant also be with him....

LosingMyPancakes · 27/03/2022 15:13

I find this whole thread so strange. I know every relationship is different but I can't imagine my DH ever going aborad, without me knowing where he's staying, who he's flying with, when his plane lands etc. Those are normal details people asked their loved ones in case something happens, no?!

The amount of people asking OP to set him up or gather evidence, drive to the airport... Hmm Sanity should prevail and you should just call him.

quicklybeingdrivenmad · 27/03/2022 15:15

@ididntevennotice no according to departures from Faro airport there are two tomorrow to bristol easyjet at 12.45 (lunch time) and ryanair at 20.35 the luchtime one would tie in with him being back in the afternoon, so I am praying for op that this is his flight

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 27/03/2022 15:15

People are so invested in this thread they've launched their own investigations into how far away the different locations are, where the potential golf resorts might be, flight schedules for tomorrow. It's rather remarkable if not unhinged.

Don't forget the weather reports from Faro and Malaga. I'm wondering if my contribution will end up in the Daily Mail. I've never been quoted before.

TabithaTittlemouse · 27/03/2022 15:15

@Seraphinesupport unless the wife and dc are also in Spain/Portugal? Wink

Where are you getting this flight information from?

There is no scheduled flight at that time from Faro to Bristol.

Mediocrates · 27/03/2022 15:20

@Changingmyname123

As an experiment I just logged into find my phone. My iPad and phone were listed as here my AirPods Pro were listed as being at a specific address about 20 miles away, the house number, street and postcode were listed, they were in fact charging in the next room and are now on my lap. The find my function is clearly not totally accurate.
Benalmadena is c. 250 miles from the Portuguese border though, and if I've read correctly that's where the OPs husband's phone appears to be. That's a pretty big margin for error
Hopefullyoneday12 · 27/03/2022 15:22

I'd be turning up at the hotel tonight. See what's really going on.

What, in Spain????Grin
Rewis · 27/03/2022 15:23

@Rewis- I genuinely envy posters, including you, who think like this. Of course it should be ok to say you're going to Spain, but if you're trying to pull the wool over your wife's eyes, you want to keep everything as low risk as possible.

I think telling the truth about Spain would be less suspicious. If I was cheating I would be worried about my partner finding out creditors payments, operator messages "welcome to Spain" and slipping up "oh yeah. In Spain xxx" etc. Therefore tell the truth about the location would make sense since golfing trip to spain or Portugal is essentially the same thing. But maybe my cheating senses work differently.

Unbelievable!
LaraDeSalle · 27/03/2022 15:28

Are the golf clubs still in the garage?

Yes, that was the most shocking part. I've always given flight number, airline, hotel, and all the details when I am traveling and he did the same.

It's fun, if we or the kids have a bit of time watch the flight tracker for a few minutes.

3luckystars · 27/03/2022 15:30

Yes I would definitely check the golf clubs Grin

Rewis · 27/03/2022 15:30

*Ok, but what's unusual about saying they are going to try some different courses? That wouldnt raise and a red flag and takes away any worry about the OP seeing any flight confirmations or stray luggage tags or air traffic controller strikes in Spain

It seems an unnecessary lie to add to the mix especially when covid restrictions could change in either country while he's there.*

Exactly. Even if he is on a trip with Diane instead if Dave the lie about Portugal vs Spain. I mean It might be easier to husband and in his head Spain is suspicious. If I was lying to my partner I'd pick a different lie.

That’s arrivals in Faro. Not departures.

He wouldn't be much of a cheat if he didn't put the clubs in the car before leaving on a "golfing" holiday. Grin
Mynameisnew · 27/03/2022 15:34

I guess I've missed the point but why can't you ask him why he's in Spain?

3luckystars · 27/03/2022 15:35

That’s it. Go to the airport, find his car and check the boot for golf clubs.

Wideawakeandconfused · 27/03/2022 15:35

Not helping now but he’ll have to have his passport stamped when he returns so you’ll have firm evidence in it when he returns.

CellophaneFlower · 27/03/2022 15:36

@BadDayForMe What an awful thing to say?! Really? Is it awful to assume someone's husband has taken a mother's day pic of his wife in bed? Possibly it has been taken by other means, but it's hardly "awful" to assume it hasn't. It's not even far-fetched given the circumstances Hmm
