My AirPods are where I thought they were. My husband isn’t!!

I’ve been reading mumsnet for years but not made an account until now. I can’t talk to anyone in RL and really need some advice please
My DH is on a golfing trip with a work friend in Portugal. I though I would do some housework today and was looking for my AirPods. I couldn’t find them so mentioned to DS that I didn’t want to spend time looking in case I’d left them at work.
He suggested I look on find my iPhone as that would show them. I’ve never used it before but once I reset the Apple ID I got in and saw they were in the house. ( I searched the kitchen and found them behind the pot I drop my keys and stuff in. )
I noticed that this app showed my husbands phone so clicked on it just for a nose
He’s not in Portugal. He’s in Spain!!!!!
Why the fuck would he lie about what country he he’s in unless there is something seriously dodgy going on. I watched him go from a hotel to a
Restaurant, then along the seafront, then back to the same hotel. It can’t be wrong. I can’t sleep. Is he with another woman?
Wtf do I do?????

Is he geographically challenged? Has his friend arranged the trip and for some reason he doesn't actually realize he's now in Spain, as they did fly in to Faro? Unlikely I guess, but I work with the general public, and I reckon some of them are that thick!

I asked how’s it going in sunny Portugal and he said there’s no danger of getting burnt
Did he definitely sound like himself, and not like some random person who's stolen a phone?

@coffeepot72 I'm not sure you can confuse flying into a completely different country and then believe you are still in that country your entire trip 🤣 the languages aren't even the same!!

If this has come as a total shock OP then I would like to think he is jotting around playing on different golf courses. I know my DP wouldn't think to say he had gone to Spain for the day if he was staying in Portugal as it's just now how his mind works. I am thinking and hoping that the innocent explanation is exactly that!

I mean I don't know if he's definitely cheated but if he's said he's in one place but at other then he's lied and I would be worried about what else he's lied about tbh

I'm a bit confused about the friend's "private" FB profile. Even if FB posts are limited to certain people, you can't just click on a FB profile and have it tell you "this profile is private". You might not see their friends list, but you aren't made aware of anything else they've hidden from you (as in, not made public) Perhaps it wasn't Facebook?

@PAFMO It's possible to protect your FB profile to the degree that all anyone who's not your friend can see is your profile picture / cover photo if you have one set.

I still think there may simply be some confusion around Spain and Portugal. I know people who going skiing in Europe and get all confused about France and Italy.

As others have mentioned, he have had to complete the Spanish Health Form to be allowed access to Spain, I'm a bit of an expert on the form and it's got 'Spain' written all over it.

He'd have to be very short on brain matter not to realise it meant he was going to Spain.

@mjf981 I’m quite geographically challenged but even I know which country I’m in when I’ve traveled to Spain and Portugal. (And Devon and Cornwall for the poster who suggested that as a comparison).

If he goes to a restaurant is that proof he’s cheating or just going to eat?
If he goes to various areas is that proof he’s cheating or just visiting different places?

I’m struggling to see how tracking him all day is going to prove anything when he’s already thousands of miles away.
It’s different if he said he’s going to Spain but he’s actually just around the corner at his ex’s house.
OP is already driving herself mad by going on to the friends wife’s Facebook page.

Sorry OP, but up to your latest update it felt like it could be an innocent explanation. However actually lying about being in Portugal, with the touch about remarking on the weather isn't a good sign at all.

My phone once sent me a Welcome to Ireland message but I have never been to Ireland, I was actually on the far west coast of wales at the time.

There's nothing wrong in the OP's posts about Facebook, she said she couldn't look at the Husbands friends' account because it was private. Assuming the OP and him are not Facebook friends already that's entirely possible.

I’ve also never had any problems with Find My iPhone, unless I’ve had some location services switched off.

@ImInStealthMode would you still have to do the forms if you flew to Portugal and drove into Spain? (I know it doesn’t make a difference to where op’s Dh is or what he’s doing, just curious).

The phone’s location settings are saying it is in the place it is in

Your phone simply pinged a cell tower a few miles away and your network assumed you were somewhere else

The fact that the op has messaged and asked ‘how is Portugal’ and he’s replied as if he is in the country when in fact he’s in Spain, and not just over the border but over 4 hours drive away, strongly suggests he’s a lying bastard and he’s up to no good.
