Do you think having cats is a relationship dealbreaker/guys would find it weird? And how many cats is too many cats?

Why would having a cat be weird???? It’s like having a dog.

Maybe having four or more cats would be weird but I’m sure anyone who likes cats would be fine with more than one.

And it would only be a dealbreaker for someone who is allergic or doesn’t like cats. I’m allergic so it would be a dealbreaker for me.

walkingbaby · 11/03/2022 00:05

I'm not a fan of pets at all so I wouldn't even be interested in someone who had one cat😂 that's just my preference tho, not a pet person at all. I'm sure if anyone actually liked pets then no amount wouls be a problem no? Maybe no more than 3/4 or it could be a bit much

Suprima · 11/03/2022 00:07

Men who vocally hate cats should be avoided
They can’t deal with things that don’t need their approval and validation constantly

Kanaloa · 11/03/2022 00:13

Hmm I’m not sure. For me one or two cats (maybe three) would be fine and just normal having a pet. If someone had four or more (I once knew a lady with 8!!) I wouldn’t be keen. Personally I would wonder if they had the cats best interests at heart, how much it cost them in insurance/vets et all. But that’s just me, and you’re not looking to date me! So if you have 10 cats you’ll find someone who’s into that.

AHungryCaterpillar · 11/03/2022 00:15

I’ve never had a man be put off because I had cats 😕 I had 3 at one point...

WhoppingBigBackside · 11/03/2022 00:21

I know someone with 4 cats. He's good-looking and pleasant but it does seem a lot of cats.
He wouldn;t be interested in me anyway.

ElIie · 11/03/2022 00:22

2 cats before it starts to get “crowded”

hotpinkkettle · 11/03/2022 00:27

It certainly wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me. Somebody who doesn’t like cats on the other hand might be.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 11/03/2022 01:06

More than four if they are indoor cats. If you have a farm and a barn or stable, up to ten.

RedWingBoots · 11/03/2022 01:37

Depends how big your house is as cats need their own space.

In the 4-5 bedroom houses people I know live in they tend to have 2-3. However it's common to have other pets as well.

There are plenty of men who like cats - I'm related to some and have a DP who does - however the ones I know never have more than 2 cats at a time.

Never trust anyone who doesn’t like cats
I was given that advice when I was a child by my favourite great aunt and it’s never been proved wrong yet. I’m nearly 50
Generally I’ve found in life, people who have cats are less controlling than people who don’t like cats
all my 3 cats are rescues
2 of them were about to be drowned in a canal by their owner (male) he obviously didn’t like them much
So there’s a difference between liking cats and having one
But when I saw how much my partner loved his cat - he went up in my estimation
I foster for CPL so we often go up to 5 on a temporary basis
Cats are like chocolate
It’s hard to just have one

If a guy doesn't like cats, then don't date them.

Create your own deal breakers.

beingsunny · 11/03/2022 02:11

I'm curious just how many cats you have now Grin

JaceLancs · 11/03/2022 02:18

I have had a cat or multiple cats in my life since I was in my teens - I’m now 57
Most ever was 6, but I generally stick with 2
It’s never affected my relationships

SelkieQualia · 11/03/2022 03:24

How is it there are no pictures on this thread?

PiperPosey · 11/03/2022 03:28

I have been dumped due to too many pets, One dog and two cats apparently is a step too far.

Bringsexyback · 11/03/2022 08:14

But then apparently I also have to have too many children as well even though three of them don’t live with me and are adults.

violetbunny · 11/03/2022 08:22

No such thing as too many cats.
I'd love to get a third but DP says there isn't room for it to sleep on the bed with the other two. I may have told DP he could move to the spare room.

LaurenKelsey · 11/03/2022 08:26

I wouldn’t be thinking about whether my cats are a dealbreaker for a man. I would be be thinking about how a man not liking q my cats is an absolute dealbreaker for me.

NCForThis2022 · 11/03/2022 08:27

I have five, and for me, it was a case of telling dp exactly where he came in the list of priorities (under the cats). It was up to him if he was okay with that. At the time, I think I said something like even if this doesn't work out with us, I'd still have them.

I agree with pp, there's no such thing as too many. But it depends on how much time someone has to devote themselves to a lifetime of service.

Mylittlepixie · 11/03/2022 08:28

I guess for me it would depend how big the house is and how clean. How well the animals are taken care of etc. if you have one cat and its not well cared for in a filthy apartment, then the cat is too much. You can have 10 pets and care for them/clean after them properly and its fine.

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 11/03/2022 08:30

I want to see the half dcat
