How often do men wash!?!

It’s really starting to bother me how often my partner has a shower! I have mentioned this to him a few times now but we are now on day 4 of him having no wash at all! I shower everyday however I realise a daily shower isn’t needed for everyone. But am I being unreasonable to think he should be washing at least every other day? All I can think about is that his body hasn’t been washed in 4 days and as much as I love him it’s really off putting. I haven’t even wanted to sit near him tonight. He seems to see it as a bit of a joke, or says “that’s boys for you!” He’s in his 40s by the way so he’s not a teenager! I would be interested to hear from men too as to how often they hit the shower! Thanks in advance.

Every day, sometimes twice

He also washing his penis everytime he has a wee, he hates felling dirty.

"Washes" Hmm

Sorry buts that’s a bit extreme. So he dunks his nob in the sink after every piss?

My ex was a bit like this and it was tiresome.
He also kept wearing the same shirt or T-shirt for days on end. He also didn't change his underpants and socks everyday yet I was to blame when he got a bad case of athlete's foot
His issue stemmed from the fact as a child he was not allowed to wash regularly (I think the parents didn't want to pay for the hot water - they weren't poor btw). His mother also made him wear the same clothes day in and day out. He said that teachers at school had spoken to him about his hygiene.

When he moved in with me he just didn't seem to be able to get into a habit of washing daily and wearing fresh clothes unless constantly reminded by me.
I had to speak to him very firmly a few times as he was going out to various music groups smelling. It's just not on.

In the end (and for other reasons) I got thoroughly sick of him. I'm not his mother and shouldn't need to be policing his showering.

If a grown man can't/doesn't wash themselves regularly, for whatever reason, then they shouldn't expect anyone else to put up with them sitting around stinking.

Quite frankly, you should have one final discussion with him and tell him that basic hygiene standards are non-negotiable.
Showering every couple of days is the minimum, plus fresh underwear, socks and T-shirt every day.
If he is not able to do this then he should fuck off somewhere else.

That is gross. My DP showers every morning and has a freshen up when he comes home from work plus def has a freshen up before sex. It’s just considerate... it says a lot about his lack of concern for your feelings I think. Sadly.

Popcornbetty · 24/05/2021 13:11

Op on MN everyone showers 3 times a day with copious amounts of soap! I think it's one extreme to another.
IMO it depends on the weather, what we've been doing, usually once a day but have gone 2 days before and ao had dh.

Popcornbetty · 24/05/2021 13:11

so has*

Rave2thegrave · 24/05/2021 13:13

Dh showers everyday. I shower every other day.

Grin just laughed out loud at that one!

Rave2thegrave · 24/05/2021 13:15

Only positive is its better for the planet🤷‍♀️

Ispini · 24/05/2021 13:20

Everyday sometimes twice if doing sport/garden. He would be sleeping in the dog kennel otherwise!

deydododatdodontdeydo · 24/05/2021 14:40

Not normal, and skanky.
Never been with a man that hasn't showered daily at least.

Outbutnotoutout · 24/05/2021 15:02

@Regularsizedrudy

Yep, no worse than having a strip wash at the sink, like all our great grandparents did.

joystir59 · 24/05/2021 15:37

Do these non showering men expect to have sex? Yuck.

joystir59 · 24/05/2021 15:38

"strip wash" is a horrible phrase.

Tigertalk · 24/05/2021 15:40

Do they not shower and then put on fresh clothes?? Gross

PixelatedLunchbox · 24/05/2021 15:44

My DH showers or washes daily and most days freshens up before dinner, changing into a clean shirt. He smells good all the time.

me4real · 24/05/2021 16:00

@joystir59 I once heard someone call it a 'w's bath.' Shock

wobblywinelover · 24/05/2021 16:14

What is the point of having a 'strip wash' and washing out of a sink when it's just easier to jump into a shower for 5 minutes and far less messy. I've never understood that.

I hope the person doesn't have to 'strip wash' from a sink where her husband's knob has been every time he has a wee. Lol

Sakura7 · 24/05/2021 16:19

DP showers every morning. He'll skip the odd one if we're having a lazy day at home, but that's about it.

Going 4 days is not ok, and definitely not normal.

notacooldad · 24/05/2021 16:21

DH and 2x adult sons shower morning and straight after work. One lad has a full on sweaty smelly job so definitely needs to shower and change as soon as he comes in! They may shower more if they go running, gym or cycling.

That's their normal. DS1 can't stand the thought of being slightly dirty and has always been that way since being a small child.

eurovisionsparkles · 24/05/2021 17:05

My oldest baths twice a day (after and before work)
My youngest showers once a day (before school)

What is a w's?

The people I know who strip wash do so for mobility reasons. Not everyone has an accessible shower, and a strip wash is definitely quicker and easier than trying to get into a bath.

MN is weird about strip washes, but if done properly they are just as clean as a shower. I’m sure nobody on here would want to shame disabled people for not being able to get into a bath or shower safely.

me4real · 24/05/2021 19:20

@joystir59 The one that's a derogatory term for a prostitute etc.
