How long until you got engaged?

So just curious to know as I'm hoping soon I'll be engaged.

how long after your relationships started did you get engaged and are you still happily married?

Engaged after 10 years together. We've been married 8 years now (mostly happily!)

Engaged after 9 years married after 10 divorced after 21.

Engaged after 7 years, now married for 3.

I was only 20 when we met though, so felt the right time for us to agree to get married.

2 1/2 years. Then married 18 months later, with pfb

Engaged after 5, married after 7, divorced after 11

We got engaged after about 18 months and married a few months later. We did things on a slightly accelerated timetable as already in our 30s when we met and wanted children. Married 5 years now and 2 kids. So far so good.

5 weeks and married within the year. It’s worked out brilliantly for us. Been married v happily for 15 years. I wouldn’t be happy if one of our DC did it though! It’s a high risk strategy!

I think it can depend how old people are and if they want to be married before having children.

We were together 7 years before getting engaged, but I was only 17 when we got together. Still going strong 22 years since we met.

Decided to marry after about 9 years, no engagement such, together around 23 years all in.

Engaged after 9 months, married 5 months later & now married 18 years. Not always happily but great now 🙂

Erm.... about 3 or 4 months after we started dating. Got married 9 months after that. Been happily married nearly 19 years, 3 DC.

Engaged after 4 years, married at 5.5 years and still together now after 14 years.

Engaged after 5 years, have been married for 21 years

Engaged after 9 years, married 2 years later. We've been together 14 years.

We got engaged after 3 months and married a year after we met. When you know you know :)

We met in 1968. Him 18 me 15
Engaged in 1971.
Married in 1975.
2 DC , 3 DGC.
Still together.
Still very much in love despite isolating since March 9th, 2 days after DH's 70th birthday.

My family:
Grandparents 2 weeks, married in 6 weeks happily married for 58 years
Parents: 2 weeks before engagement happily married 2 years later
Me: engaged after 2-years happily married 20 years
Sister: 11 years before they got engaged. Been married another 20 on top of that!

I don't think there is necessarily a correct pattern

Engaged after 9 years, when I got pregnant with DD1. It was done in a romantic way but with a prior conversation and agreement that I would not enter motherhood without any protection as I am currently a SAHM.

Married after 11, coming up to 15 years altogether now

Met in 2009, started dating April 2020. Moved in together September 2011. Got engaged in October 2017 and married May 2019. Still together and happily married!

Never got engaged. Bought a house after three months, married at eleven months, just celebrated 27th anniversary. Still no diamond ring!

Proposal after dating 3 months, married a further 8 months later. Been married 12 years.
It felt so "right". I knew he would ask me to marry him but I didn't think it would be so soon. Absolutely no regrets.

With my ex, together 7 years before deciding to marry, only one month from decision to marriage (civil in judges chamber) it was just the paperwork, together another 20 years before we split. Haven't quite got around to the divorce paperwork despite us both having new dp's we live with, (still good friends). At some point I'll sort it as dp and will want to marry for practical reasons eg pensions.

Together 2006, engaged 2011, married 2012. 3 DCs and still together

Dated for 3 years, engaged 2 years, we've been happily married for just over a year, have 1 DD born 9 months into our marriage and happily expecting our second baby next August 😁

Engaged after 11 years together, planned to be married in 2021 which will
Make it 13 years but as it’s an overseas weddings we are postponing until 2022 because of covid
