The Rules: 1. The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating. 2. Develop a thick skin. 3. Do not invest emotionally too soon. 4. It's all BS until it actually happens. 5. Trust your gut instinct. 6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault. 7. Know your worth. 8. If it's not fun, stop. 9. Loo update is mandatory. 10. No dating the thread. 11. Treat others as you'd like to be treated 12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with 13. The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future 14. OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy. Link to Info on Dating Websites & Apps click here ** Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item.

@@batshit well done for not accepting it, if it makes you feel shit ( as expected) don't do it. Let him think about it.

@Notcoolmum ooof re mr BC but you're so so right. @BatshitCrazyWoman it sounds a bit like the wife/SDC thing may need actually addressing soonish.

@Notcoolmum there may be a card in its way. And never forget, he's a man! Men (ime) are usually rubbish at all the trimmings, it just won't have occurred to him. (So am I for that matter...)

Jane1978xx · 14/02/2020 08:21

Is he just coming for sex is that the point ? Mr G passes mine more or less on the way home from work and sometimes he’ll pop for a brew and a chat for an hour

bangheadhere40 · 14/02/2020 08:25

@notcool thanks...if anything it's just useful to get these nonsical texts as it reaffirms how crappy he is, makes me laugh, and reminds me what not to accept, and I can hopefully post them to warn others about the standard ' textbook' phrases and lines to watch out for 🙂

So my date with Mr Repeat is on (although I know it doesn't happen until it happens!) he tx unprompted last night to check times and stuff and said he's looking forward to it.

I've got butterflies! It's the first date I've been on with someone other than STBXH in seven years so I'm a bit nervous I'm really out of practice.

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday whatever you're doing

Dazedandconfused10 · 14/02/2020 08:37

My plans (girls drinks) have fallen through for tonight. But I think I'll go to a bar for a couple after work as I have naff all on and see what happens. I'm away tomorrow and hopefully seeing Mr Confident on sunday but I feel like he might be backing away. Which is fine but I can be a bit all or nothing in life I dont like uncertainty.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/02/2020 08:38

All my friends are married so I doubt anyone will come out with me. I had been looking forward to a 'proper' Valentine's day as I actually don't remember the last time I was with someone on Valentine's day that cared about me - not even when I was married!

He's booked the cinema for tomorrow. It isn't really his fault - as I say SDC told him at about 7 am that they wouldn't be around to feed the animals, so he has to go home (an hour and a half from me). That's feeling like SDC did that deliberately knowing Mr BC would have plans with me Hmm

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/02/2020 08:40

We aren't anywhere near each other so you can't really 'pop in'. He will -say- we'll get food but that's not what happened last time ...

@BatshitCrazyWoman I agree this is going to keep happening until it's addressed. In normal circumstances you would go to his. I'd let him think about it tonight and miss you. Hopefully he will reach his own conclusions about what needs to change.

StealthNinjaMum · 14/02/2020 09:39

Sorry @BatshitCrazyWoman I totally understand how you feel about not wanting to be a bootycall and think you did the right thing saying no to tonight. I hope Mr BC can see what is stepchildren are doing.

Stuckinarut79 · 14/02/2020 09:45

@BatshitCrazyWoman I’m with you on stopping the inevitable, but if your miserable can you go out, meet halfway and just go for a drink? Agree with others giving him time to think about what he wants and you making and keeping boundaries is healthy and progress so good for you.

I’m way overthinking mr scenery again! He didn’t text at all last night other than a few words reply to a message from me, every other night there’s been a couple of texts and a goodnight signed off with a kiss!

Ant330 · 14/02/2020 10:03

I shall be spending Valentines Day evening with my son as he's always here Fri and finishing packing for our holiday tomorrow.
I'm going to dop some flowers and card over to MissH's later this afternoon when I drop dog at kennels, she may or may not be in.

Ant330 · 14/02/2020 10:06

Bats good on you for bot doing something that makes you feel shit. How has he taken your decision, does he understand? PP made a good point that if you felt comfortable at his house then perhaps that would have been an option? Might get him thinking about all the photos.

Menora · 14/02/2020 10:07

I think it might be a good opportunity Bat to bring this up, like a natural moment where it makes sense? I would feel the same re the booty call after a year, when feelings have evolved. When you are at the start of something it kind of feels normal and good for it to be all about having sex but further down the line feels weird. I would suggest meeting half way too actually and having a catch up

Dinner tonight for me is just a prelude to not much sleep later on but I’m ok with that as it’s exactly what I want. I already had some flowers as he ordered them online way too early then realised they would die by today 🙄😂

Mr M has chilled on the soppy catching feels initial buzz/rush which I think was just overwhelming to him (and no so much me as I am hardened or heart)

I don’t want anyone to feel rubbish, Valentine’s Day really is a load of wank TBH. I’ve never been married never had any celebrated anniversaries with someone so Valentine’s Day has never really stood for much either and I don’t think taken too seriously in terms of what you mean to someone, but I understand that it doesn’t feel like that when every bloody shop and all over SM it is everywhere!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/02/2020 10:09

Stuck I think dating was easier when we didn't have ways of instantly contacting each other!

I wouldn't have been able to go to Mr BCs and stay over as I have a 9am appointment tomorrow morning where I live. That's why he was coming to me .... I sent him a message saying I'm disappointed that we aren't going out but that I understood animals need feeding! And that I wondered if SDD guessed he had plans with me ...

EchoElephant · 14/02/2020 10:11

I've just had my first "Happy Valentines" message. From someone on Fab who haven't met yet 😂

Date tonight is with Mr Extremely Tall. Hopefully we've chosen somewhere that won't be full of couples being mushy.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/02/2020 10:13

Tbh I think he's just accepted that I didn't feel comfortable with all the photos so I won't be coming to his house Sad

I actually feel really rubbish now. I think Valentine's day is crap too but I thought I was going to have a good evening. Instead it'll be me, some beetroot falafel (lush) and Netflix ...

Menora · 14/02/2020 10:14

@purpleanorak

I quite like dates where you are doing something fun I don’t know where you live but there are a lot of those ping pong type places around, I quite like arcades/bowling/pool/air hockey as you can see more of people’s personalities when they are doing an activity... like are they overly competitive 😂 or born without any fun bones

bangheadhere40 · 14/02/2020 10:14

@bat - what animal is it that he has? if it's a dog that can't be left could he not bring it over to your house?

OP posts:
Menora · 14/02/2020 10:14

@BatshitCrazyWoman

Have you watched Sex Education? Also It’s always sunny in Philadelphia is a fun Netflix evening

Menora · 14/02/2020 10:18

@EchoElephant

I had a happy Valentine’s Day message that was a ridiculous photo of Mr M wearing my pants which I left at his house which have a see through mesh bum area. I was at work when I got it and nearly choked on my cereal bar. I don’t think it’s a fetish hopes and prays

Dazedandconfused10 · 14/02/2020 10:18

I love it's always sunny. Might be a good shout for this evening actually!

Menora · 14/02/2020 10:20

Dazedandconfused10

New series out too!

Dazedandconfused10 · 14/02/2020 10:22

@Menora I binged that on release day Grin
