Masturbation (shhhh). Does everyone do it?

I have to ask. I am interested. I always thought everyone did it (I do).
I have been with dh for 10 years and am still not convinced he does. It is the only topic that we have never discussed. I am sure (ok, I know) that he doesn't think I do!
Does he?
Do you?
(It was a PART of my previous relationship, but with dh it has never 'cropped up')

is there anyone who doesn't do it?

SPARKLER1 · 24/01/2005 22:20

you killed the thread Lou????

wog · 24/01/2005 22:21

Just wanted to say that someone in an earlier thread said they did it to help them get to sleep, couldnt beleive it because so do I because apparantly having an orgasm releases a sleep hormone so while dh is out or on nightshift I help myself and of course I know my dh masturbates the only thing was he is on night shift this week and when I came home tonight he told me he done it twice today so I gave him a bollocking as we are ttc and I told him he had wasted all the strong fast ones and left me the slow ones but he promised they are not like milk you dont get a fresh batch every day their always on tap but I dont know.........

lou33 · 24/01/2005 22:22

no it's just that there is noone who can say they don't!

SPARKLER1 · 24/01/2005 22:25

Birds do it.Bees do it and I suspect even educated fleas do it!
Great Fun.But agree can be tricky to talk about.Mumsnet a good place to ask stuff that would might be too shy to ask face to face iykwim.

hatstand · 24/01/2005 23:48

actually birds and bees don't do it. Monkeys do though

fefifofum · 25/01/2005 00:00

I know my dh does it in the shower, tho I've never actually seen and we've never actually spoken about where and when - I'm not that intrigued I must admit. He takes great interest in my solitary activities tho!

As my dh once said 'There are two types of men, wankers and liers'. They all do it

wheresmyfroggy · 25/01/2005 08:23

Well if he says so it must be true......................................

What two types of women are there then?

emkana · 25/01/2005 08:44

I really resent this "all men are wankers or liars" statement, which has been quoted on Mumsnet before. Where is the evidence for it? Why shouldn't there be men (and women) who don't do it? Even worse though when some people say that all men "do" porn - I know for a fact that my dh does not, and I don't appreciate it when he's being called a liar.

Sorry, but it really gets to me.

All the "research" (how do they research these things) suggests that most men do. I know my DH does cos he tells me so.
Not that he shouts "Darling, I'm off to the bathroom for a date with Mrs Hand and her five lovely daughters". But he does acknowledge that he does it occasionally.

There - now I've told all you lot - don't let him know will you. Shhhh!

FineFigureFio · 25/01/2005 09:43

I would think it is fairly obvious that EVERYONE masterbates even if it is mutually, heaven forbid what would foreplay be without it?

not into porn, neither is my husband..........is that unusual?

triceratops · 25/01/2005 10:09

I can remember my little sister doing it in the car when she was about five. I was sooooo embarrassed for her (she is 10 years younger than me). My mum had a terrible time trying to stop her doing it in public without messing her up for life by calling it dirty. My ds has just come out of nappies and now he wont stop holding his willy.

PlainFlum · 25/01/2005 10:14

He does, used to be twice a night he reckons before he met me. Now less, he like to lie in at the weekend and sometimes wander in to see if he's awake and catch a bit of furtive fumbling. Makes me laugh. And of course there are the long bathroom visits - who knows what he does in there!!!

As for me, very rarely on my own, IYSWIM , it just doesn't spring to mind as an activity. In the evening I would rather read a book and in the morning I jump out of bed too fast. I do still fancy bonking though so is not a libido thing.

Strangely I did do it a lot when I was pregnant, just felt randy I guess. Always wondered if bambino knew what was going on.

can't decide whether to offer a man's perspective or not
