  1. The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. Know your worth.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Treat others as you'd like to be treated 12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with 13. The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future

OP posts:
StealthNinjaMum · 16/10/2019 23:45

@peanuthedz I'm so sorry to hear about you and Mr Unsuitable. I'd always hoped it would work out. Take some time off and don't go back to old until you feel ready.

Peanuthedz · 16/10/2019 23:58

Yeah so did I over the last few months. You find someone who doesn't play games or fuck with your head, who treats you with respect. You have great sex. You love each other. And it still turns to shit. I mean what does it take? What's the point?

Bluezoo123 · 17/10/2019 04:42

Sending hugs peanut sorry you're hurting.

Thanks simon for the info. 1 or 2 days at Disneyland a definite must on my list! I shall check out the other things you've recommended.

lifegoes · 17/10/2019 09:03

So sorry to hear this news @Peanuthedz you were just talking about him yesterday. So I can imagine it's a shock. Keep yourself busy and we are hear if you need us.

Jane1978xx · 17/10/2019 09:09

I’ve been putting together a list of things that are an automatic no on OLD and it literally rules out about 95% of men 😂
Semi clothes in any pic
Lying in bed in any pic
Kids in the pictures
Mountain bikes (been there done that)
Names inc : big boy, 69, lover, etc
Men in football shirts unless playing football
Fish
Wedding pic with wife scrubbed out
Pics with mum
Bio includes anything about princess, queen, special lady etc etc
Bad house decor
Old pics
Bad spelling and grammar

Sunshineandflipflops · 17/10/2019 09:17

@Peanuthedz I'm sorry to hear about you and MrU. Even knowing it's not going to last forever doesn't make the end any easier. Take some time to grieve and heal before you think about going back to OLD for more headf*ckery xx

Sunshineandflipflops · 17/10/2019 09:18

@Jane1978xx Yes...my pool of potential 'yes's' is always very low due to a similar list of automatic no's. I managed to find a few but most of them still had issues, they were just hidden!

Jane1978xx · 17/10/2019 09:23

@sunshine and flipflops yes it’s a struggle ! The other one is men with no kids who want kids and I’m too old for that 🤦‍♀️.

MoreNiceCereal · 17/10/2019 09:24

Ah @Peanuthedz I'm sorry to hear this. Flowers

Very good list, @Jane1978xx, I'm in agreement with all those automatic no's. I also swipe left on any sign of grumpiness or outright nastiness. (What's the point of this place, chat or I unmatch you, etc. Some of those comments are very entitled and off-putting)

Jane1978xx · 17/10/2019 09:28

@MoreNiceCereal. Yes that too !

Sunshineandflipflops · 17/10/2019 09:28

Yes @Jane1978xx...the amount of men i saw who were my age or older (I'm 41) who said they would like to have children! FFS!

Notcoolmum · 17/10/2019 09:35

So sorry @Peanuthedz especially as it seemed to come so out of the blue for you. Will he be moving back home?

StealthNinjaMum · 17/10/2019 09:36

@Jane1987xx I agree with your list, I also hated men in their 40s who stipulate they want a girlfriend who is 3 to 15 years younger than them and men who stipulate they want a woman who weighs less than 10 stone especially if they weigh 15 stone!

Jane1978xx · 17/10/2019 09:39

Yes I’m 40 and there’s a lot of men want kids or maybe they just put that so younger women aren’t put off 🤷🏼‍♀️. I suppose if they approach you and have seen the age then it mustn’t be a deal breaker. I’m also unsure if I could go out with someone without their own kids as otherwise do they really understand the struggle 😂.

Jane1978xx · 17/10/2019 09:41

@StealthNinjaMum. I looked on match.com where you can see the age they are looking for and pretty much all the men I looked at who were around 40 had 25-30/32 as looking for age 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ant330 · 17/10/2019 09:46

Peanut sorry to hear your news Flowers

MoreNiceCereal · 17/10/2019 09:46

Yes, men without children don't understand the complexities of my life at all.

StealthNinjaMum · 17/10/2019 09:59

Yes @Jane1978xx that's where I met my boyfriend. Fortunately he didn't have an age or weight preference. I wonder if 30 year old women are interested in a 45 year old man with an ex wife and children. I wouldn't have been.

Sunshineandflipflops · 17/10/2019 11:15

@StealthNinjaMum Unfortunately I can confirm that some are. My Ex h had an affair with a woman at work. He was 40 with two pre-teen kids (and a wife) and she was 27 with no kids, never married. They are still together almost 2 years later and I have no idea what the attraction is for her but she's going to lose her child bearing years with him (if she wants kids) as he had the snip after we had completed our family.

@Jane1978xx I dated one guy who didn't have kids (he was 3 years younger than me) and although he said it wasn't a problem, he just didn't understand that I wasn't free at the drop of a hat and had to plan my child free time in advance. It's a different world.
