Samsung Secure Folder

Hello MN I need some advice.
I was going through my husband phone, looking at pictures on his gallery (with his permission). Then I pressed the recent app, something came up as secure folder, I couldn't get into it as it needed a pin to go in. I asked him about it and denied installing it and said that it came with the Samsung phone. I insisted and then he tried a few pins which he says he uses and said it was not working. He later said to me that he managed to unlock it and gave me access t o eh secure folder. I didn't even bother looking as I am thinking, if there was anything incriminating, then he would have deleted it before giving me the phone.
Should I be worried? does anyone know anything about secure folders?

I have a Samsung s9. You have to set it up first with a pin, so on mine anyone can access it as I've never set it up. It looks like he has I'm sorry to say

Very suspicious behaviour on his part. Did he give you the pin so you can access it at your leisure at a future date?

Any other signs of inappropriate behaviour on his part?

I'm Samsung s10+ but even on my other Samsung's I've had secure folder which you set up a pin for

i had a secret folder on my last phone for pics, it was just there. No PIN required but you could show it in the albums list or not.

I don't know if my new phone has that ...i am off to look!

No he didn't give me the pin. it is a pattern. HE said 'oh it was a square'. When was in the shower, I tried the square, all types of square but couldn't get it to open

I have a Samsung s8 and always had the secure folder ( it comes pre installed), never even used it, and I've just opened it for the first time and it asked for a pin. No idea what it is, or whether itll just let me set on cos I thought I'd come straight back over and report :)

I have that folder on my phone. The pin is the same as the one I use to turn on my phone. I have no memory of setting it up but assume I did.

I came across it as a recently used app at the bottom of the phone when you press the 3 little lines (sorry am not a very technical person). So am assuming he must have used it recently. I do not know what to do

I've just tried on this phone, because I've not set it up it asked for my biometrics but then takes you through a whole set up procedure

It's really odd that it showed up on recently used because the secured folders are designed to not do that. I have the Samsung one on my phone as it came with the phone. I've just gone into it and then looked at my recent apps and it doesn't show up.

@baileys6904 that's what he said but then he miraculously remembered the pattern and it was a different one to the one that he uses to unlock the phone. I quickly looked over my shoulder and saw few apps like Gallery, email, notes etc.
Does anyone know how quickly he could have deleted stuff from the secure app.
The whole thing between me asking him and him 'forgetting' and remembering the pattern too about 15 mins max.

Just tried mine and it's not set up, and didn't show in the recently used apps.

to be precise when I went on the recently used app, it came up as the gallery so when I clicked on it (as I was going through photos anyway) it came up as requesting a pattern to the secure folder. Then I did a search on the top and secure folder comes up, I click on it and it again asks for the pattern

I just checked mine and it was set up with a pattern lock, though I don't remember doing it. It does come automatically with the phone.

Sometimes I type in the first few letters of an app to find it and then click on the wrong thing. It could be that?

It doesn't sound like much on its own to me, and I'm usually the first one to call out suspicious behaviour. Is there anything else that's making you worry?

after this whole thing, I created a secure folder on my S9 and moved some photos to it.
I just looked through some pictures that I had and left the phone and then went back to recently used app, it appears as gallery, click on it and Bang, its asking for pattern for secure folder. So if anything, he must have pics on there that he wants to hide

Should I ask him for the phone tonight and the pattern to the secure folder or did I miss my chance to find out if there was anything on there. He must have deleted everything by now. I am having a bad feeling and I do not know what to do.

Tbh I only use my secure folder for pics or anything I have been sent that people wouldn't find if they lost my phone. Also me an my ex set it up when there was a case of Samsung sending pics from your phone Blush

Also you can save other things like files and downloads etc. I use it to store some details or numbers etc.

It is making me question things. When I found that, he went out with mates (boys night) on Friday night so I am wondering whether there were females as well and whether there may have been some inappropriate photos. If there was nothing to hide, he could have just opened it and let me see. The whole forgetting the pin etc is suspicious to me.

just had a look on my galaxy s8.

it's asking me to go through a specific set-up process, and input a password/patter/pin, specifically for the app.

it's not just automatically your normal one.

I have this folder and you have to set it up with a pin to ensure it's private. It's NOT set up like that.

Also it only comes up in recent if you use the folder a lot. So for instance I've been in it three times now and it's still not showing in my recent

I use it, I keep pictures of my passport, credit cards etc in there, encrypted. Mine shows in my recently used apps. Don't remember whether I specifically set it up. But I use a different pass code than the one to unlock my phone.

And I've actually just remembered about it coming up as gallery in recently used, used to confuse me a lot until I twigged it was my secure folder as i used to put a fair few pics in there

As for digging, as you say he most likely will be wary now, but then what is your husband like? Is he likely to forget, if I'm making sense?
